By the way, I missed the beginning of the MNF game. Anyone who watched it, did they bring up the Miami possibility at all with Gruden?

Follow me on twitter. Or don't @Adam_Vaccaro

You need to watch more of the Giants than because Pierre-Paul has done some good things. And how many players are Michael Strahan right out the gates? Come on Desides, you're better than this.

I’m allowed to exaggerate comparisons to make a point. Maybe I do need to watch more Giants games, but the networks would rather force-feed me “treasures” like Cowboys and Vikings games.

Uhm, Nate Allen has started every game in Philadelphia.

Has he? He’s listed as the backup on depth charts.

Allen Bailey is probably going to be a top 20 pick this year.

Then a team is going to waste their first round pick. He and Hankerson should be 2nd round picks at best.

Like when Saban said he wasn't going to coach Alabama?

Anyway we can hire Gary Patterson as HC and then Dana Holgorsen at OC?

Yes I went there with Patterson again.

Gruden's fine too but convince Holgorsen somehow to come to Miami.

I just don't see Patterson moving, especially when they'll be moving to a AQ conference.

So has he signed yet?

This is a great job...with very lucrative business contacts attached that will keep him earning LONG after he is gone....(if he wins of course)..

Ask Jimmy....

Harbaugh works for me.

Gary Patterson won't leave TCU. He's been contacted for other jobs and he isn't interested. Not so much because of his career but because of the christian part in TCU. His family is happy and he doesn't want to leave Texas. He'd leave MAYBE to coach the Longhorns, but even THAT job is a stretch. He's not going to a Pro-team in a University that is the Hurricanes.

Miami needs someone that's willing to accept the pressures of being a pro-level coach, or someone that's interested in going to the league. People are now saying that Harbaugh is waiting for what happens to the Michigan (alma mater) job. That's not going to change until after the bowl game, so cross out Harbaugh. Miami wants to sign someone ASAP to keep the few recruits they've received commitments from. They can't lose Teddy Bridgewater or Anthony Chickillo.

Mike Leach actually, and I won't ever happen because of a previous bad interview, is the best fit IMO for this team. He's desperate for this job. I don't think for any other reason he's in Key West chilling. He's even friends with Jimmy Johnson. He's brilliant and for some reason Uncle Luke gave him his blessing. He'd have to be plan Z for him to get hired, unfortunately.

Look for Miami to contact Dan Mullen next if the Gruden think is a final "NO" from the Gruden camp. Hocutt is a fan (according to people who know people who know people). After that, no one knows. I don't buy the Leavitt rumors, nor do I buy the Venables rumors. Those are names being tossed around, but no one knows really. Might as well say Cristobal at FIU is a candidate, LOL. Its, as of this morning, Gruden first, then Mullen, then the field.

That’s disappointing. Harbaugh would be perfect.

That said, I wouldn’t consider Gruden dead until Friday at the least. His work week is over and he now has a chance to actually focus on this opening.

I'm going to say this, but please don't hold me to it...

I had a conversation with a person this morning, and the only person(s) discussed had a last name that started with a 'G'.

ETA: I would also advise against anyone buying anything a SoFla beat reporter has to say regarding this. I wouldn't really trust much of anything the school says about this either. If a story breaks with a high profile coach, it will be broken by the national media.

National media who happens to currently employ this person whose last name starts with G?

Their donuts suck, but I've heard good things about their coffee. Too bad they're from Massachusetts.

Canes wise, I do hope the comments Gruden made this past weekend were to merely put his possible hiring at UM on the back burner for the MNF game.:theu:

Ironically, I love their Boston Kreme donuts. Buy their bagged coffee, brew it yourself. Great stuff.

I’d actually be surprised if Gruden and Hocutt have even spoken directly to one another yet. Shannon was fired at the worst time for Gruden to be available for an interview. The talks and salary figures being batted around were probably between Hocutt and Gruden’s agent. It’ll be interesting to see how the process changes, if at all, now that Gruden has a couple of free days to devote.

I get the feeling that there might be an agenda behind the leaks. Like this one:

The latest information that we have is based on our sources that are placed high up in the University of Miami decision making process.

Gruden will formally accept the position of head coach at the University of Miami, as early as Wednesday. The terms of the deal have obviously not been disclosed, but one tip that we received late last night stated it would be for four years, $15.1 million.

Miami has never paid a coach what Gruden would receive. Though the $3.77 million (approx) per year would be significantly lower than what he could receive at the NFL level, the level of power and authority that Gruden would have at the University would rival that of Pete Carroll’s heyday at the University of Southern California.

Gruden is expected to bring his brother, Jay Gruden, on as the offensive coordinator.

Further, it is said that Jon Gruden has already picked out a house in Coral Gables, Florida. He is traveling back from Arizona to Tampa today, and any further news or updates will be posted as we get them.

As of 11:00 a.m., that is what we have.

To make UM look like a more desirable position, and to help Gruden leverage other jobs. Miami does this every time the job is open. The question is, is this the time where they're not blowing smoke up our asses?
