This should be an easy win for the Dolphins. The Titans just aren't a good team right now. Of course the Phins never seem to make it easy for their fans. So the game will probably be closer than expected and I see the Dolphins winning by a score of 24-21.

Just crawling out of last night's drunken stupor. Still waiting on them to call even one ****ing holding call on A&M. If I learned anything from starting the don't re-sign Jake Long thread last week it's that people are going to blindly defend him no matter how much his play goes south. So, you know, just be aware.

 

Any real shot at playoff relevancy is going to require a 6-4 record five days from now. Here's hoping for a dominant performance.

With regards to Jake, I wonder if his recent knee injuries that he's played through may have affected his ability to bend and maintain the wide base he once had. I need to take a look at that and see what he's doing now as opposed to what he did before.

They may have , but what to me is relevant is that his production and efficiency has declined noticeably , is this a blip in his career ? Or is this a downward slope he is on? Half a season to get clearer on it but if the season ends with production in the same vein as the first , then no way do I sign him for 12 plus a year.

 

I'll tell you what, juts watched the first drive from last week via game rewind, and two things stood out to me:

1). His knees are an issue right now, if you watch him, he's tall more often than not and subsequently he's leaning. When you lean along the Oline you'll be thrown off, or simply out maneuvered more often than not. At this moment, Jake's a bit of a waist bender.

2). His feet look fine in terms of general speed. However watch him in the open field and you'll see a guy who looks a little ginger at times. Quick change of direction in the open field is a bit of an issue as well.

Very, very, very small sample, but that's what it looked like on that drive. Didn't look like the same bullish player. That knee is bothering him more than you might think IMO.

 

In the Miami Herald this morning, it was noted that on the latest ESPN poll of the top 50 players in the NFL, Cameron Wake was the only Dolphin on the list. Conspicuous by his absence was Jake Long, who has been ranked in the top fifty players in the NFL since his first season with the Dolphins. I think people around the league have seen the drop in his play, while some Dolphin fans just look at him with rose colored glasses.

I heard many comments on locale radio this week and many former Dolphin players stated that unless he improves his play over the next eight games. The Dolphins would be wise to not sign him to a big contract after this season. They also noted as you did, that his play is well off what it was just two years ago. I hope his play improves dramatically over the next two months, or the Dolphins should just let him go in free agency after the season.

 

He came back from that preseason injury very fast.

Yep. Two separate knee injuries in two years. He really needs to get healthy AND stay healthy next year.

 

Time to get back to the happy side of .500
