Primarily defense in the draft. need pretty much every single position, LB is the most glaringly obvious. a stud MLB would be the single biggest upgrade this team could get.
Fix the holes on on defense. Get the o-line settled. Get Jones, IAQ, Maxwell and Tannehill back healthy and ready to go.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Just a list of **** id like to see happen.
Sign Martellus Bennett. Would be a great signing for the red zone and run blocking and shouldnt be overly expensive. A quality, threat of a TE, would help Tannehill and this offense tremendously.
Draft an OLB in the 1st round. Our Lb's are ****in horrific. Sorry to say so. but they are horrific. Not only need a 1st round pick, but a huge signing as well.
Sign/draft 2 guards. Yet again. This position, idk if you guys realize this, has been the problem for years now. Bushrod was quietly a horrific liability and i didnt see anyone post about it the entire year. And albert was horrific according to PFF. So Pouncey healthy, Tunsil to LT, and we are right back to where we were last summer. We need 2 guards, and we ****ed up, and obviously ****ed up, when we didnt draft lael collins that offseason, 2 years ago. That has been desperately obvious for years now and our front office is incapable of finding the right solution. And pressure directly up the middle is impossible to overcome as it has been for years now.
Get quality depth all over. this is easy to say, but it is even easier to do if it is a focus. Im sorry, but just follow PFF, for a few years and sign quality depth. We sign way to many guys who are just so clearly unanimously terrible according to all these sites, and it isnt as hard as this team makes it out to be.number21 and cuchulainn like this. -
I know if starters come back that were injured, the rebuilding is not that bad. But OL and Linebackers, w an emphasis on stopping the rush is needed.

Here are my thoughts:
1) Get healthy. lets not forget we were missing 7 starters from our original lineup including 2 pro bowlers and our Qb
2) We were a young team, especially with so many injuries. Offensively, 5 of our starters have 3 years or less starting experience in the NFL.
3) Upgrade LB. Draft a LB in the 1st or 2nd round and then bring in a vet to compete
4) Develop CB's. Our CB's were young and it showed. They showed some promise although they have a ways to go
5) Draft a G/C. We need more reliability from the C and T spot. If we draft G, move Tunsil to LT and save money on Albert's contract
6) Draft a TE in the first couple rounds. We need a viable red zone threat
Develop CB's. Our CB's were young and it showed. They showed some promise although they have a ways to goP h i N s A N i T y and gunn34 like this. -
Need to be able to stop the run. This bleeding is now a whopping 2 1/2 seasons. It is a snow ball effect. And puts the offense also out of place. It is obvious it is LBs.

He said anything about this?

Wake will never retire they will have to carry him off the field to retirement! I wish the rest of the team played with his passion!

I doubt it. I dont see him not playing the last year of his contract after the monster season he just had. id be shocked.

1.Chandler Jones 3-4 OLB ARI 27

Wake seems to be healthy and playing at a high level. But we have to get younger at DE

Yeah, we need a franchise linebacker. It's that simple. A quarterback of the defense. A Zach Thomas, a Ray Lewis. Add another linebacker while we're at it. Let the injured guys get healthy and let's just keep building and improving while moving forward.
-
1. Get a REAL DC!
2. LB
3. More LBs
4. CB
5. DE
6. OL
The best thing that could happen at this point is if some team is crazy enough to take a chance on VJ. I hope Denver gets him. I would give it 3 years and Elway will fire VJ. Maybe VJ can get another DB coaching position after that.djphinfan likes this. -
You guys criticizing VJ, while i dont think he is the best thing since sliced bread, need to lighten up. We literally have 0 personnel to be a good defense. Our S's, after Jones and Quddus who got injured, are complete trash. Healthy, they were great. But we need quality depth. Our Lb's? Complete and utter trash. Including Alonso. He might be Ok or acceptable, but he stinks as a lead LB. and anyone who isnt a home or who actually watches tape of him would agree. Our Cb's? Solid, but need to improve still. If Maxwell couldcome back and be the same, that would be awesome, but, we need to keep adding to our Cb's, As far as DE, we miss a guy like Odrick who was solid but he is more of a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DT, but we need to add to our Dl. Dion Jordan being solid would be a huge help.

I'm not sure it was a dig at Moore. MM is a free agent.
-
Linebacker and defensive end are the two biggest needs as of now. Need offensive line help and maybe more if Pouncey is gone. Another corner.
-
Bring in chandler jones... but we still need another linebacker, a safety, and a defensive end
-
It seems that every year we find good players we end up losing some of them while improving in other areas, creating new needs for the following year. Would love to see positive progression in the off season and actually get better for a change.

I think Matt Moore played well enough to earn himself a job starting somewhere else as one of those stop gap QBs.

Draft one MLB. Moving Kiko to outside and draft another outside linebacker
Draft a TE. Jordan Cameron is done here and Simms is just okay at best.
O-line stills need some work. Need to replace Bushrod and maybe think about moving on from Albert/Pouncey. I'm more willing to give Pouncey another year and just move Tunsil to LT and work on improving the guard postion.
Maybe draft or sign a decent DB in free agency. Lippett was just awful today.
Re-Sign Stills if we can. If we can't we gotta start working on Caroo.
Draft a DE. Wake is getting up there in age and Mario Williams was a total bust.Last edited: Jan 8, 2017 -
Here are a few ideas that I have:
Sign:
G - Ronald Leary and/or TJ Lang
DT - Nick Fairley
LB - Jamie Collins
TE - Inquire about Martellus Bennet (depending on the price)
Re-sign/Extend
Kiko
Stills (I would really like to bring him back. I worry he may be expensive)
Denney
Landry
Players I'd be willing to re-sign at the right price
Branch
Simms
Paysinger
Cut -
Mario Williams
Dion Jordan
Koa Misi
Earl Mitchell
Keep -
Byron Maxwell
Brandon Albert (unless we get Leary AND Lang - if so, kick Tunsil back to LT)
Draft (almost certainly gonna go heavily on defense) -

Hopefully Pouncey will be able to overcome his constant hip problems and we won't need to use a high draft pick on the OL position. We should try to add a couple of quality backups for the OL in free agency and maybe draft a TE somewhere in the latter part of the draft.
Otherwise the draft should be used to upgrade the defensive side of the ball. At least wo starting caliber LB's are needed before next season. One of these should be an impact MLB, because Alonso needs to be moved outside. He just isn't powerful enough to play the MLB position in the NFL.
Help is also needed in the secondary and an upgrade along the DL to stop the run would be nice. Unfortunately for a team that went to the playoffs, the Dolphins are going to need at last two more off seasons before they can fill most of their needs on defense, but hopefully they will be able to start building a much better defense once free agency and the draft is over.
Right now they have a schedule next year which is rated the 6th hardest schedule in the league based on their opponents record this past season. So they are going to need a vastly improved defense next year if they expect make the playoffs for the second year in a row.dolphin25 likes this. -
Who are the big name LBs hitting FA?
-
Agreed. This is why I really like Ohio State's Pat Elflein in the 2nd or 3rd round. He could've declared last year and been the first interior offensive lineman selected, but he opted to remain in school and had a bit of a down year - something that's common with a lot of players on the cusp of going pro - and now I see him as a potentially huge steal. He's extremely versatile at 6-3, 300 lbs., and projects equally as a center and a guard. That kind of flexibility is hard to find, so he could serve as a starting guard unless (until?) Pouncey goes down again, and then simply hold down the fort at center.gunn34 likes this.

DeMarcus Ware, Lawrence Timmons, Robert Mathis, Julius Peppers, Nick Perry, Trent Cole, Rolando McClain, Melvin Ingram, Chandler Jones, Dont'a Hightower, Junior Galette, James Harrison, Manti Te'o, Courtney Upshaw, Dwight Freeney, and Jamie Collins. Projects as a really good class.
But the best of them all? Kelvin Sheppard and Philip Wheeler. Total sleepers. :whistling: -
I moreso meant who is hitting FA with the intent to shop around. I'm sure half of those guys are getting locked up, no?
-
A few of them should, but most are over the age of 30 and/or aren't good fits with the current regime. Hard to tell this early, though.
