We didnt need this, what was looking like a big offseason for us all the sudden aint looking that way anymore. Im probably jumpin too early but i had no faith in ireland going into this thing and lets just say things arent exactly gettin any better.
2 valuable pieces to this team sean smith and starks arent even in negotiations yet, instead we turn our attention to 2 players that on there best day cant even be called an average player. Lets evaluate
Hartline - Clumsy, slow, 1 td in a 1000 yard season! but because he played a year with tannehill and developed this so called chemistry he is worth #1 wr money....
Clemons - Non existant, didnt even know he was still on the team, i could replace him with a undrafted free agent, give me a freaking break already. Jeff ireland is trollin all of us, seriously.
I would prefer we go with matthews at #2 than waste money on hartline which will eventually cost us a chance at mike wallace. Hartline is not worth anything more than what jordan nelson makes, which is around 3.5 to 4 mil and thats me bending, hes not half the player nelson is but for some reason our gm is about to offer him more than nelson. I just dont get it. All this cap space means nothing if were making terrible decisions like this. I dont mind us going after hartline and trying to sign him back, but when you call it "must resign" you gave him all the leverage to demand whatever the hect he wants. Not looking good at all... Mike wallace is the only thing ireland should be focused on, not hartline type players.

I wouldn't worry much. He's a must resign... at the price Ireland wants to pay.
-
So you think giving mike Wallace 10 mill a year is the right move?
Who exactly would you retain amongst our free agents?
I think your a bit premature in some of your stress but come march we should know a lot more how this offseason is shaping up.
Who knows, maybe Long and Hart don't get what has been speculated, maybe Jake realizes that because of the way he's played the last two years, all his injuries, and most importantly missed games , that he will reflect in an appropriate manner and sign for 8 mill a year..seabass0795 likes this. -
My disbelief is based on losing all of those starters, having little depth behind them and then being sold that "we need playmakers" by Davie
Basically, Ireland will have to have the greatest offseason of all time to make this work without the "rebuild" word being used.oakelmpine and Bpk like this. -
Guffaw. -
Offseason is off to a start. However since the Dolphins have a whole month before their free agents are free agents, I don't see what the problem is.
I do see how people love to whine and moan and create mountains out of molehills.toto, El Hefe, CANDolphan and 6 others like this. -

Another year of the same old guys saying the same ole BS.
"You're jumping to conclusions" "We haven't had a (season, offseason, preseason) yet, how can you judge"
We have been in this lame *** stalemate for too long, one way or the other we need to get out of it, as a fan ofcourse you are frustrated and you have every right to be.
We need more fans pissed instead of the guys who constantly apologize for a franchise that has been mediocre the past 10 years.

Niether type of fans would change anything that happens during this coming offseason. Being pissed off and crying about something that hasn't happened yet doesn't do anything.ToddPhin likes this. -

At least with blind confidence you are not wasting your time.
I am wary as anyone, however I have been through enough offseasons to give very small grains of salt to offseason reports. I have seen too many times when a signing was about to happen when there hasn't been talks and when the complete opposite has happened.unluckyluciano and gunn34 like this. -
By who? Show me another 26 yr old Wr, coming off of a 1k/15ypc season in the NFL to replace him with?
Honestly, the problem here is Ireland SHOULD have signed Bline prior to 2012, clearing the field to add talent, ditto Smith, Clemons etc Egnew SHOULD have played in 2012 to make losing Fasano easier.
As it sits now, 9 starters are in line to leave, 1 month to go until FA begins.oakelmpine and Ludacris like this. -

But by all means let us all sit around and hold hands and say, THIS will be our year!!

All I am saying is wait for them to do something stupid until saying they are doing something stupid.
If they sign Hartline to 6 million a year, yes call them idiots.
If they sign Hartline to 4 million a year and then turn their attention to Stark, calling them idiots was a bit premature.Bpk likes this. -

And so it begins.
The cascading descent into abject negativity which begins each offseason, and usually makes the political elections season look like Christmas time in comparision.
Some of the postings in this time of the year make Eeyore look like a bloomin' optimist!

The most recent example was Philly. But remember Shula's last year. With Shula coaching and Dan Marino at QB, the Dolphins didn't win **** with every big name FA that year.
Flip over the goddamn record, we've heard this side 100 times and its been stupid all 100. -
Just another reason to trash our GM. GMs are in a no win situation with this fan base. If he didn't set up the roster to have all the options we do have, people would complain that he should have. -
I like Wallace but don't want to pay him $12 million hell noes. -
Nothing's really happened yet. Should withhold judgment for now.

None of them have departed yet.
I remember last offseason when there was zero chance Miami would retain Paul Solia.
