We didnt need this, what was looking like a big offseason for us all the sudden aint looking that way anymore. Im probably jumpin too early but i had no faith in ireland going into this thing and lets just say things arent exactly gettin any better.
2 valuable pieces to this team sean smith and starks arent even in negotiations yet, instead we turn our attention to 2 players that on there best day cant even be called an average player. Lets evaluate
Hartline - Clumsy, slow, 1 td in a 1000 yard season! but because he played a year with tannehill and developed this so called chemistry he is worth #1 wr money....
Clemons - Non existant, didnt even know he was still on the team, i could replace him with a undrafted free agent, give me a freaking break already. Jeff ireland is trollin all of us, seriously.
I would prefer we go with matthews at #2 than waste money on hartline which will eventually cost us a chance at mike wallace. Hartline is not worth anything more than what jordan nelson makes, which is around 3.5 to 4 mil and thats me bending, hes not half the player nelson is but for some reason our gm is about to offer him more than nelson. I just dont get it. All this cap space means nothing if were making terrible decisions like this. I dont mind us going after hartline and trying to sign him back, but when you call it "must resign" you gave him all the leverage to demand whatever the hect he wants. Not looking good at all... Mike wallace is the only thing ireland should be focused on, not hartline type players.

Offseason is off to a start. However since the Dolphins have a whole month before their free agents are free agents, I don't see what the problem is.

If u want mike wallace your going to have to pony up more than 10, you are going to get in a bidding war with someone and the highest bidder is getting him. Im thinking some where along the lines of 12.5 mil per, beggars cant be choosers, we have to give him what he wants and letting go of hartline gives us more money to use. We dont need hartline, he is easily replaceable but mike wallace type player u aint finding nowhere but free agency. I never said anything about jake, i hope he comes back but that depends on him and his asking price.

Blind confidence does make more sense then claiming that Ireland has signed Hartline to a 7 million dollar a year deal and given up all ideas of even trying to sign Randy Stark.
At least with blind confidence you are not wasting your time.
I am wary as anyone, however I have been through enough offseasons to give very small grains of salt to offseason reports. I have seen too many times when a signing was about to happen when there hasn't been talks and when the complete opposite has happened.unluckyluciano and gunn34 like this. -

Honestly, the problem here is Ireland SHOULD have signed Bline prior to 2012, clearing the field to add talent, ditto Smith, Clemons etc Egnew SHOULD have played in 2012 to make losing Fasano easier.

Free agency not the answer u say ireland?? well make sure u dont tell to pat riley and mickey arison cause they be laughing at u all the way to the bank. We already got 1 ship with bron and wade and we are about to compete for our 2nd now, 3 straights years in the finals, how about you ireland, how much playoffs win have your miami dolphins built teams won? 0, none , nada. we all need to face reality, this team stinks, and it starts at the top, the ppl running things are all book smart ppl, they have no feel for anything football related outside of pens and papers.

DDupree, I've watched the NFL since plan B free agency, and the last time I can recall a team having this many starters set to depart as FA was Baltimore in the early 00's and maybe Tampa, normally when you head into an offseason with that many questions it means Rebuilding.

The most recent example was Philly. But remember Shula's last year. With Shula coaching and Dan Marino at QB, the Dolphins didn't win **** with every big name FA that year.

Agreed. FA splurging doesn't work. One or two superstars or marquee players do however. See Anquan Boldin in Balt. Any pick of Bowe, Jennings and Wallace works. WR is a humongous gigantic hole, and if Hartline leaves it's even bigger. One of those plus a draft pick would be quite nice.
I like Wallace but don't want to pay him $12 million hell noes. -
