OLB/DE Justin Houston failed drug test

padre31luxury_boxOPHouston, an early-entry junior, is projected in some mock drafts as a late first-round draft choice. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Houston had 67 tackles and 10 sacks last season for the Bulldogs as a rush linebacker.
Houston's athleticism and pass-rush skills make him especially appealing as an outside linebacker for NFL teams that use a 3-4 defensive scheme.
I'd heard he was a dark horse for mid Rd 1 but always thought of him as a Rd #2 #45-#57 type of pick as he is a conversion DE to OLB type.

He's less of a DE to OLB convert than most players if you can even consider him one. He played OLB in Georgia's 3-4 last season.

Paul 13moderatorYou can add Christian Ballard to the list of failed drug tests. This is bad news for our Dolphins as this makes the list of possible second / third round picks smaller. Not that these two guys were on our list, but you'd have to think other teams who pass will end up taking our guys...

ToddsPhinsNew MemberThis won't affect these guys as badly as some might think. GM's know that pot use is much more prevalent nowadays. They can overlook a little marijuana usage as long as the player's character checks out otherwise. I'm not saying you take a positive-tester at #5, but if he falls to 15, then swing away.

Since he has already been playing at OLB, he isn't a conversion type like where he played one position in college and pro teams project him at another. Those are the kind who may drop a little as their performance at their future position is more of an unknown. Houston started 13 games last year at OLB.
