Unless one or more of them are coming back after Week 1, it seems crazy. And even then I don't get it. Either these guys were terrible in practice or the coaches think Buffalo is a sure thing.
Ethan said the players weren't surprised at Martin being released, as he was battling injuries. -
Unless it has to do with the guaranteed money than this is just stupid. Grant is a good player and Douglass has also played well. I really hope it's not just about saving money.
-
Im fine with douglas but I thought Grant played well enough to make the team.
-
Some of these cuts just seem so bad. :/
More bummed about Will Allen than anything though :( -
LOL Reitz was the Olineman who tried to dunk it over the crossbar. I like this kid, Murtha may be getting a bus ticket go bye bye.

FWIW I really liked Clifton Geathers coming out of South Carolina, I suspect they maybe see him as a Tweener type, but physically he is 6'6 290 and runs a sub 5.0 40, but what role could he have this year?
:dunno:
I suspect those newbies had better not get to comfortable as the Roster Churning has only just begun. -
Douglas at least was a solid run stopper, no matter heading into Buffalo they just jettisoned him..heck no, we don't want that, better to sign some scrubini Rook who could not cut it in woeful Seattle or Cleveland.
You should read the Bravo Sierra about why they drafted Pat White. -

What strikes me is this is basically a rebuilt team, with new starters everywhere.
That belies that "fast start" stuff as no matter how skilled the Rook, or young player, it takes time to learn the job, with all of those playoff teams on tap Sparano apparently feels now is a great time for On the Job Training.
You kinda can see the trainwreck from here..hopefully not..FinFan316 likes this. -

I feel like the Dolphins are a ship that is taking on water, and the captain knows that he needs to dump weight to avoid sinking...but decides to dump the motor overboard...
Hopefully there is a method to the madness, but picking up a rookie defender and apparently an unathletic o-line leads me to believe that we are grasping at straws to try and bolster the tail end of both lines.
Douglas was interviewed on Sirius NFL Radio a few weeks back and said that if he hadn't signed with Miami, that he was going back to the Jets...it wouldn't surprise me if he winds up there or in New England to be honest.Section126 likes this. -
That's odd, we cut our two most experienced linemen and locker room presences on defense. I've got a real bad feeling about this season.

yeh, I gotta be honest, Im not feeling like
we are on the verge of being a losin team or anything, but I have lost any feeling of momentum headin into this season. The Red Sox used to have a GM named Dan Duquette, made some great moves early in his Sox career, and then after that it seemed like he was more interested in uncovering a hidden gem for his own good... not for the team -
The Marques Douglas release is the only move that really surprises me. Feel like their may be some serious overreactions due to cutting 3rd and 4th string defensive linemen.

To me this is a huge vote of confidence for Odrick, Soliai. Means they think Odrick is the real deal and Starks may be splitting time at NT and DE.

This is just ridiculously stupid.... I'm not supporting any of this. I really don't believe in these guys and the decisions they make.
-
You know I think if they turn out to be a fairly good team this year with limitations (I don't know say a 8-8 to 10-6 team, I hope they're better honestly), there may be a couple of coaches who could take this team over the top. They're talented now, no question. Just bizarre **** going on with this over-obsession with youth. I hate when they just kick veterans in the face for younger guys that can't perform.
Bill Cowher anyone? This team could perform much like his Steeler's teams on defense. They have the athletic personnel in the front seven and plenty of tough tackling CBs. On offense they do have road graders and a much better version of Hines Ward in Marshall.
Cowher is only 53 too.Da 'Fins, DolfanJake, jetssuck and 1 other person like this. -

To infinity..and beyoooonnnddddd!!!!!
Eh, Nolan's defense has to perform, the Stars have to shine on offense and we'll be fine.
Put it this way, the only "shocking" development concerning a Starter is Sean Smith being benched, other than that we are discussing Depth players.Anonymous, adamprez2003 and gandalfin like this. -

You'd think we'd have played a ****ing regular season game by now the way dolphins fans ***** and moan. I don't mind releasing Douglas and Grant because for two reasons. 1. I was a big fan of Clifton Geathers in the draft. And 2. Perhaps this means Soliai has been so impressive that Soliai plays more NT, and Starks plays more DE.
