If all goes well disgruntled Dallas Cowboy WR Patrick Crayton will be a Miami Dolphin very soon. This will reunite Crayton, a six year veteran, with both Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano.
Hold your breath, this is developing..............

Did you hear this on TV? I don't see anything in print media yet.
In fact, this just posted 30 minutes ago:

This would make me very happy.
We could run Five Wide Sets, stretch the field out of the gun and have a legit KR.
For the record, not crediting the source is a rather unfortunate trend of today's social media that irks the hell outta me. -
Post a link or say its your opinion please.

Patrick Crayton is not much better, if at all, than Cam, Bess, or Hartline. If he were to start above any of them, i would be angry. We need these young guys to keep playing and improving.
SICK, Ronnie Bass, Hellweed and 4 others like this. -
Crayfish is a sure thing, they know what they can expect from him, he's not terrible, not great, can return punts, but unless he can handle kickoffs he really should not be in Miami imvho.
-
I have yet to hear anything about this.

'Sides, Competition is the elixir of success. That's somebody's quote on here.
23rd I think? :up:MikeHoncho likes this. -

From what I've seen of Crayton, he doesn't think every route is an out route and actually has a working set of hands, which makes him +2 over TGJ.SICK, Larryfinfan, Phins28 and 1 other person like this. -
Crayton had just 36 returns and fumbled 3 times.
Ginn had a total of 57 returns and fumbed 2 times. -
I'm surprised TGJ managed to catch his flight to SF.miamiron likes this. -
This is pretty random Cobra.
Since I don't see any peep about this in any sports news source I'm assuming you're quoting something from a supposed source? -
-
-
Are you high!?
-
CJ was pretty quick to predict some moves around the draft. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one as i'm assuming it's from his source.
If it is true and it does come to fruition, i would be pleased, another solid receiver for Henne and competition would be a great thing heading into camp. -

Ok, I'm not the biggest proponent of adding Crayton, we have some talent at the position beyond the top 4, but he's faster than any of our guys (including Marshall). He's as shifty as Bess and a decent route runner with good hands. He also does something better than our other three guys and that is return kicks and punts. Bess is maxed out. He will never be any faster or quicker than he is now. He's a good slot or short route runner but the lack of speed is damning as he continues to develop. He's our PR, but that is simply out of necessity, not because he's what this regime wants or needs at PR. Cammy has reached his prime. He's a technician on the field, but again his speed is suspect. Hartline has some 'potential' as well. None of us know where Turner or RGM will fit into this picture either. The bottom line is that Crayton is as good or better than the guys you mentioned and certainly better than anyone else we have listed on the depth charts behind Marshall, Cammy, Bess, and Hartline...
If we add him, it'll likely be due to our pressing need at the returner position, with a chance he can take some plays away from the others at WR.
I don't know the huge fascination with Bess. He's a great story. UDFA makes good and all that. He's a good slot receiver but tends to develop the drops occasionally. He is a tough guy, but tends to go down with the first bump or hit after catching the ball. He's a good route runner but can't always take advantage of that due to his unmistakable lack of speed, which in turn makes him a liability at the position. He's limited as to what he can do. He's a good PR, but again, is not a threat to take it to the house. He's Wes Welker with two less steps in speed. Crayton could very well unseat Bess as our #3 guy if he came in.
My only dislike of Crayton is his age. At 31 yrs old, he's not a piece of the puzzle for very long here. I don't know if they think our return game is that desperate that we need to dislodge a younger guy for him...padre31 likes this. -

Yeah you're probably right. We'd already signed Ryan Grice-Mustache.

Just a moment..
Some of y'all are getting a little... ah.... boisterous... with the criticism of the OP... But, I found this little blurb yesterday...
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b4hFp
Now, I grant you this is not one of the most noted authorities on the net, if there really is such a thing, but...it was on the net - yesterday.
So there is some smoke out there. It may all be balloon juice, but it's still there.
Just sayin', y'all. -
It's pretty clear to me that the reason they didn't keep Ginn was that he didn't fit the toughness profile and just hasn't developed enough as a WR. Bringing in a guy like Crayton who can be a role player and just do his job without the distraction of fans and media riding his *** and calling him a bust is probably a plus for this coaching staff and front office. -

Im Not A big Fan of bringing People in and putting a lock on their starting position *just an assumption* Dont really like Crayton
Id Rather one of our Young Dolphin Breeded Players to be a KR. -
My one quibble is "yes" he is 31, but he has only been in the NFL for 4 seasons, he doesn't have the mileage that a typical 31 yr old NFL wr would have.Larryfinfan likes this. -

To me, a Phil Merling for Marcus Spears/Pat Crayton trade makes sense. -

could happen, but not that big a deal. our Receiving Corp is strong & we remain a run-first offense.
