This should clear up some things.

Your team doesnt make money so they cant play road games...that's kind of sad...
-
Please Don. They make plenty of money....enough to support all those other sports. See through the hate and see the point

Question for Big 10 fans.
Do all the teams carry similar schedules as OSU? I'm assuming that would have to be the case since the conference still hasn't fixed its problem of having 11 teams. I'm assuming if they had 10 or 12, then they could alleviate this problem.
In the end I don't think OSU truly cares about any perceptions about a soft schedule. Their bottom line is covered and their post season is relatively easy to assure.
BTW, Maj, can you give us a link? -

I want the Big Ten to add another school. I wish ND would just jump on board, or get Pitt.
See They don't have the luxury USC has, Ohio St has to put the Akrons, youngtowns St, because they have to schedule teams that will not ask for a return trip. It says it pretty clear in the article. -
I can't wait for the Big 10 to fix this stupid problem for the sake of all college fans, including the Big 10 and OSU. It just sticks out like a sore thumb. No championship game, can't play everyone in the conference, and still can't schedule better opponents.
It's lose, lose.BuckeyeKing likes this. -
I hear you on that, it can't be helped though. America wants to see top teams clash every week it seems. Ohio ST just needs silence some of the critics with a win in Southern California.
I would love to have a Conference title game. It CAN'T happen unless they add a team. -
So critical. -

I would guess basketball (male) and football make money. Obviously football makes the bulk though.
I would guess baseball, softball, women's b-ball, and both soccers break even or come close (on one side or the other).
But what about the rest?
That is a lot of traveling, scholarships, equipment, for 28ish sports that likely lose money.
I do bet plenty of bigger schools would do a home and home with OSU though, and losing that one home game (over two seasons) would not hurt OSU's finances much. -
sounds to me like they need to reign in their spending so they don't have to be whinning about schedules... If 147 other schools manage their money good enough to have a normal schedule, why can't osu.. are they just too stupid to figure out what everone else knows?

I know Ohio St should make it their goal to please the other College football fans and play the best from every conference but they wont, you know they wont. If the Big Ten wasn't in bad shape no one would have a problem with Ohio St playing the Akrons and Youngstown ect.
I know Ohio St has asked Florida and LSU for return trip games but they have declined in the past.
And I'm not ducking you Skeet I'll be on either tonight or tomorrow with my Mic. -

Give me a break. The SEC has only been on a roll the last 5-7 years. Before that it was Miami, FSU, or Nebraska from 1984-2002 you had to go through every year. Florida never even won an SEC title until 1991. Never finished ranked in the top 10 until 1983.
LSU? Went from 1987 until 2001 without a top 10 finish. It goes on and on the SEC of the 90's was not very good at all. It all cycles.
On to Ohio St. Miami plays there in 2010. Return game down the road. We played at OU last year. At UF and A&M this year. We would have played Florida more but they refused to play us for 13 years. Notre Dame won't play us. Anybody, anytime, anywhere.
Not to mention the bottom of the SEC (Miss St, Ole Miss, Vandy and Arkansas are about as bad as bad gets over the last 15 years. -

It's one thing to bring up a salient point (I'll let you figure out which ONE it was), it's another to ramble on with such obvious hate for one school that you have to brag about your own school to "make" your point.Cuban Dave 9 likes this. -
The big 3 IMO Florida, California, and Texas in terms of football talent.finswin56, HardKoreXXX and Skeet84 like this. -
Exactly their Schedule is already crazy! The Gators play #1 Georgia, #7 LSU, and #18 Tennessee. That also does not include Miami, FSU, and a possible game in the SEC title game. The Georgia game is always on neutral field too. Also it does not matter how long the SEC has been good because the fact of the matter is that the only thing that matters is the present.HardKoreXXX likes this. -

Terry Bowden took Auburn from undefeated to unemployed in 4 short years. Do you think people that scheduled South Florida or Rutgers 5 years ago were expecting them to be decent teams now?
Look around at the other BCS schools and see which ones are willing to play other quality non con games and which ones aren't. -
You keep mentioning this like Florida plays in the same kind of conference as the Big 10 or ACC. Florida plays FSU the amount on the road. Its not like FSU comes to the Swamp everyyear. Also the Gators went and played the Hurricanes when they were #1. Florida won the national title while playing one of the toughest schedules in the country but they did not play anyone like USC on the road. Also some teams dont have a Championship game in there conference either.finswin56 likes this. -
GR82BACANE,
Love the hate. Do you realize that FSU is from the ACC and not in the SEC? I mean, FSU is on the same conference as your Canes, I would hope you know. Well that's a team that is always on the Gators schedule and they rotate home games every year. You say they should schedule better teams, well this year they start off against Hawaii, then your beloved Canes. 3 years from now, they will face the U at the U. You said that they schedule 5 years in advanced, these face offs were scheduled when the U was a top ranked team (above Florida even) and Hawaii was a top WAC team. This year's non-conference games are against Hawaii, UM, some scrub college and FSU. May not be away games...nor outside the state of Florida, but if you want to call your team scrubs then go ahead. But if you want to continue your hate mongering, go right on ahead, too. I REALLY love the hatefinswin56 likes this. -

I think this game is much bigger to the Florida fans since they haven't beaten us since 1985. Hopefully we will continue playing each other a few times a decade.
