Pat White...the name that causes problems, let your opinion be heard on the dimunitive Pat White's future in Miami.
For me, I'm still a touch psyched over Pat White, and think he will show major improvements this year.
Pat White, prospect or suspect?

Even if he makes some things happen out of the wildcat or pistol I will still ponder if he was worth picking in the 2nd round

Is it possible expectations were set to high for him? -

Or our FO that misjudged him and how his talent would or could help us?
To me, it's not us fans that are guilty.... it wasn't our plan to play mad scientist and re-invent the wheel.Eop05 likes this. -
PW had 50 plays last yr, 3 Td's, as a Rb that is amazing production, White was the triggerman for that sort of running attack, but the stats go elsewhere.
Meahwhile, White was immune to pressure packed situations, from the wk 5 Jest win to the Titans game, why ignore his positive contributions?dolfan7171 and Fin Fan In Cali like this. -

If he could break off some plays like he did at New England last season, I'd be happy.

As for stats, not only are they useless as White is meant to be the Qb in command of the running game/Wild Cat, but Henne played in 1 game in 08..
Comparing Rook stats between the two would embarrass Henne, as a Rook he never was in on 2pt conversions, never was in on WC plays... -

padre your tenacious zeal for patrick white is overwhelming and by now we get it. if for some odd reason you have taken charge of dan henning's playbook and designed a white wildcat play stop saying it. he wasn't involved in that formation in '09. I wanted to see it. They drew up a third package for white and I was baffled.. cringed when we saw it.
yeah i know i blame henning again it is true :lol:MrClean likes this. -
letting roth walk and burning a second on white two glaring mistakes by the FO  -
Pads is just stirring some debate, adding some content while we twittle our thumbs and wait for camp to start.... and regardless of whether I agree or not, I appreciate his time and effort.
Some club guys stay in club mostly and aren't all that interested in adding anything to the main.... can't say that about Padre. Again, I appreciate his effort..Puka-head, Bpk, padre31 and 1 other person like this. -
Let Pat White play. IMO, if Thigpen is our #2, then my question has now become, what's the point of Pennington? Pennington's got one year left, and if we're putting Thigpen in if the unfortunate ever happens to Henne, what's the point of Pennington?
White, as a prospect, has more value than Pennington does as an insurance policy.padre31 likes this. -

I myself voted suspect. I watched alot of WV football and never swayed on my thoughts of PW. The guy is 1 helluva athlete. A QB in the NFL he is not. Now if we would have drafted him and immediately moved him into a RB for the future (by adding some weight and toughness) I would have been ok. But I think the part of drafting him at second was a big reach. Even bigger than Ginn. I think PW coulda been had in the 6th round. I hope he pans out to be a Jim Jenson kinda player.

He's had 1 year and 50 plays, to me that is just not enough of a sample to say one way or another with him.felly smarts likes this. -
His one negative play was a botched pitch when the patriots blitzed a wishbone formation, no dropped TD passes, no half hearted blocking down field, White to me played like he was a Rookie.
Soon enough the Vets come to mini camp, it's been a looonnnnggg offseason coming off of 7-9, at 11-5 it seemed to fly bye..jetssuck likes this. -

I'll go right on record of saying it's time to drop the Pat White experience (I know, as if that is some secret I've been keeping). It didn't work. The reasons are clear. He is a very good athlete, but he can't catch. He can't run routes. He can't run the ball. He isn't very accurate as a drop back passer nor is he accurate on the run (you know, as in WC style). He has trouble reading D's. He was drafted #44 overall and had every opportunity to jump into both the QB and WCxQB fray and couldn't. He's not a RB. He's not a WR. He's not a return guy. He's not a QB. What is he ?? IMHO, gone.....or at least should be.
EDIT: And I say gone, because I don't want him to keep an RGM or Ivey or or Tsoumpas or some other lower round draft pick or UDFA off the roster.miamiron likes this. -
I think the Pat White experiment is on hiatus... not so much because of him, but I think the FO is happy with Henne and don't want to pull him off the field for Pat.
The team barely used the wildcat after Ronnie went down and Henne got better. The offense will be solid this year without it. I can see some Wildcat plays with Ronnie, Ricky and Marshal, but not White.
I can see the FO keeping White to develop around Pennington and be the future backup to Henne.
