But it’s only a mistake. We didn’t mean to tape someone 3 times inadvertently.
Against the Bengals.
THE BENGALS.

Can we just banish them to the XFL already? This is pathetic. I dont believe for one second these guys are "unrelated" to football operations are are filming for a documentary/series for the team. Even if they were, if it's for YOUR team, why are you filming your upcoming opponents sidelines?!?!
It's a god damn joke. The absurdity of continuing a practice that they were already disciplined for but now doing it right within the stadium on gamedays while claiming it's for something legit is just a slap in the face to everyone in the NFL in my opinion.
I dont care if it's an isolated incident, or the explanation is "true", where there's smoke there's fire and the story and excuses already coming out of NE on this story this early into the investigation just reek of a lame cover story for being caught yet again. As long as Ernie Acorsi is there & there's a phone on the sidelines with his name on it as a direct line up to his little video lair every Sunday should tell you all you need to know. Combine that with the fact they've already been punished for video issues, you'd think that if you hired a film crew to legit produce a video production you'd make them aware of every rule possible to prevent something exactly like this from happening if it was indeed legit. Just another reason I don't believe this BS cover up story of theirs.
ZERO respect from me for Belichik, Brady, or that scumbag Kraft. Sad thing is, the NFL won't do anything, Belichik will eventually retire and his son will step into his shoes and keep the cheating traditions alive. It's all they know.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 10, 2019 -

Sure the Pats do it, but it gives them no benefit.
And in spite of the fact that they risk so much by doing something that gives them no benefit, Belichick is a genius because he gets caught doing that thing that gives him no benefit that everyone else does but never get caught doing.Last edited: Dec 9, 2019Tin Indian, hitman8, RGF and 3 others like this. -
Take away the Pats first rounder for 2020 and ban Belicheat from coaching for 4 games, starting with the Bengals game this coming week.

It almost sounds like a sting. Apparently the Bengals were watching the Pats’ guys the whole time, and let them video proceedings for a whole quarter before calling security.
Bengals: “How much more rope would you like sir?”
Patsies: “If you’ve got some more we’ll take it”
Sotto voice from off stage: “Pssst boss, we’ve already got enough to hang ‘em”
Bengals [aside] “I know, but I want to hang ‘em twice”.

Browns confirmed Patriots asked them for permission to film. Content exists on their webpage.
The Patriots clearly don't need to film the Bengals.
More likely it's arrogance or laziness that allowed the staff to forget about asking permission and just assume they could? -
It doesn't matter how much this can help their team, they do whatever they can to get even a little edge. Every bit of data on the other team can be used. They go as far as they can, bending or even breaking rules and if they get caught? So what? They lose a draft pick or two a year after another Super Bowl appearance. Worth it. Its all part of the planning and game play to Belichick.

But, but Brady is the G.O.A.T. so they dont need to cheat. And Belichick is the best HC the NFL has ever seen so that's why they have been successful for an utterly impossible amount of time. They don't need to tape the 1-12 Bengals, that is just silly to think of. The camera crew was caught taping the Bengals sideline coaches for 8 minutes which is obviously a mere coincidence that the Patriots next opponent just happens to be the said Bengals. In fact, if the Patriots were playing the Browns this week I'm sure the camera crews focus would be "coincidentally" on Clevelands sideline coaches instead. But get any thought of Patriot wrongdoing right out of your collective heads. They don't need to cheat, therefore they don't cheat. It's that simple. Brady/Belichick? Cheaters? Don't make me laugh, they're the greatest that ever lived.

• According to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., who cited sources who have seen the footage, "it shows about eight minutes of footage focusing on recording the Bengals’ sideline. It’s a direct view of the sideline as coaches make signals for plays. This isn’t an over-the-shoulder of the advanced scout who is doing his job stuff. This is shooting the sideline. For an extended period of time. The egregious nature of the video is why it set off the firestorm it did during the game with the Bengals executives in the press box." -
Its groundhogs day in foxborough.. when things start to look bad, belichick looks at his shadow and resorts to this nonsense again.
this has been a NIGHTMARE 100th anniversary for the NFL and Goodell..

Let's just demote these scumbags down to the XFL and all move on with our lives.
8 minutes, focused straight on coaches and they're going to deny "football operations" had nothing to do with it?! Give me a break. Anyone buying that story needs to have their head checked. -
If you've ever coached football on any level, you know this is very normal behavior. You obtain any and every advantage and leverage you can to defeat your opponent. If, as a HC, you're dumb enough to continue to keep using the same signals for formation changes or substitutions, you're going down with your ignorance. Assistants sit on the oppositions sidelines of an upcoming opponent and you film every perspective you can manage. I know for a fact this even happens at the city league level in S. FL. High school, absolutely. College and NFL, it's a no-brainer. I know the majority hates the Patriots, but the outcry over this incident from the media and fans alike is ridiculous.

I’ve been saying the Pats are still stealing signals for years and it’s obvious watching them play when they have been successful in that endeavor and when they haven’t. I’ve been laughed at, called a conspiracy nut, etc.
It’s a big reason why I’ve lost so much interest in the NFL. This gives the patriots such an advantage over every opponent, the league knows about it and has known about it and still allows it to happen. It’s criminal and it defrauds every other team in the league and their fans. I’ll continue to ignore the NFL until the Patriots are properly punished or the tell all book that fully exposes the depth of their cheating is released and everyone involved is banished from Canton. I’m not holding my breath...hitman8, danmarino and GARDENHEAD like this. -

But But we never actually got the video and used the info we stole so technically it's not cheating! It's a hoax! A witch hunt! I mean yeah we did it but every body does it right? I don't even know those guys, they don't work for us. So what if we got caught doing it before, it was worth it we won! Now blow me.

If you pick up on things DURING a game by paying attention to the opposition that's fair game IMO. To have hidden staff members visit upcoming opponents to film them simply with the intent on stealing signals or getting some other advantage from it that's definitely out of bounds IMO. Especially when the league has rules against it. Whether it happens anywhere else or another level, I dont give a flying you know what (because apparently we can't say naughty words anymore) about that. The fact of the matter is the league has rules against it. One particular team has already been caught once and fined/penalized for it, and yet here they are doing it again with another convenient cover up and more lies. Regardless of which team it is, under the circumstances the media and fans have every right to complain IMO. It's detrimental to the integrity of the game. It's poor sportsmanship. It's almost as ridiculous as you thinking anyone who doesn't share your opinion is ridiculous.
If there were no rules against it, nobody would care. The fact the NFL doesn't allow it, they've done it & been caught & gone and done it again while trying pretty hard again to not get caught tells you all you should need to know about the organization involved. That's why it's being met with outcry from fans and media. It's not supposed to be happening. They were disciplined for doing it. They're doing it again with another clever cover up... if it was "common place" and accepted, they would just blatantly do it and not try and cover it up with some BS documentary excuse. Instead they try and hide it because guess what... there's still rules against it. That's why there is an outcry from fans and media on this issue.GARDENHEAD and AGuyNamedAlex like this. -

Could the Patriots have been as successful without the cheating? Maybe, but most likely not, or why else would they keep doing it?
The Patriots have cheated and are still cheating to this day. 20 years of cheating. Not one of their accomplishments are legit. None.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 12, 2019hitman8, Fin D, AGuyNamedAlex and 1 other person like this. -
Having sex with women who are too drunk to give consent is rape. It is against the law. It happens a lot. The fact that it happens a lot doesn't make it less wrong.
The Saints got busted for Bounty-gate, a practice that is clearly wrong, but probably prevalent. Should they not have been punished?

The video is unbelievable...
And then to hear all the talking heads go on about it. “Bill Belichick is too smart to have done this. He’s too good a coach!!”
I guess it shouldn’t be surprised that the meatheads that cover this sport aren’t sharp enough to correlate the cheating with the success. Everyone keeps asking like an idiot, “why would they keep doing it?” BECAUSE THEY CANT WIN WITHOUT IT. Bill Belichick is successful because of the cheating not irrespective of it. And they will never stop because the benefit outweighs the punishment. Lose a couple draft picks? Who cares we suck at drafting anyway. Fine a couple mil? Please...
For this reason, Anything short of barred from playoffs this year and harsh penalties for next season is not enough. I have no delusions that will happen but if Roger Goodell actually intends to put an end to it that’s what it would take.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 16, 2019GARDENHEAD, danmarino and Fin D like this. -
Cheaters gonna cheat...
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...triots-recording-as-team-suspend-videographer -
As an organization the Patriots haven't had a problem with cheating long before Belicheck. Remember the snow plow game? It's systemic and part of their culture. You have to wonder how much of their success is attributable to this. What really is troubling is they clearly have no problem with doing these sort of things. It's just business as usual to them.
What also troubles me is if you ran one of these teams, such as the Browns, and the Patriots asked if they could film in your stadium why would you agree to let them do it? You know their history. You know they have been caught before doing this kind of crap, so again why would you agree to it? -
I’ve finally had a chance to watch the Bengal”s security tape.
In a former career I investigated insurance fraud and there are a couple of things about the Patsy’s guy that struck me ad huge red flags.
1) There was no apparent confusion in his responses. He smoothly slid from position to position when confronted. Genuine people tend to stumble around and be lost for words when confronted with evidence that what they did was wrong.
2) He assured the guy that “I’m being honest with you”. Honest people rarely say this because it does not occur to them that the other persons would assume they are dishonest. But every person I sent to jail made a point of telling me how honest they were. Every. Single. One.
This is of course proof of nothing as individual responses to stress vary widely. I’ve been fooled and played like a drum more times than I care to remember and I’ve also put a bunch of genuine people through the wringer.danmarino and AGuyNamedAlex like this. -
I dont necessarily say the exact words "I'm being honest" but I think its instinctual to say something along those lines of you feel the person is being skeptical of you. I've done it many times myself in honest situations.
I think its a terrible misconception that is widely spread and probably has lost a lot of innocent people the belief of others.
I could just as easily say it doesnt occur to me that those words would lead another to doubt me. So the logic of it not occurring to honest people just doesnt hold up under scrutiny.
I think it depends in their context of saying it. For example if you've gone over the same question before it may cause the person to feel you distrust them or dont believe their initial answer.
If they just blurt out that they are telling the truth in the middle of the story I'd be more skeptical.Last edited: Dec 26, 2019 -
If it is in response to skepticism then that’s a natural honest thing to say.
But if its said in situations where the person’s honesty isn’t being questioned is when it’s a tell. The Bengal’s security wasn’t questioning his honesty or the technical capacity of the how to delete things. He was saying it’s too late for that to be an option.AGuyNamedAlex likes this. -
I just dont like when people use it as some sort of hard rule but it seems like you dont and use other context clues.
