Some interesting ones.

I generally like PFF, but some of their grades are real head scratchers. Moreno's grade seems really low and Tannehill's seems really high.
I'm not even going to address OV being the lowest rated defender. I don't remember him getting beat on a run play all game. -
All I know is that the Dolphins beat the crap out of the Patriots in the second half of the game yesterday. So some of these low ratings for some players make no sense at all.
Of course I only care about the end results on the field and rating systems are subjective, not objective, no matter what they want you to believe. -
Worst PFF eval I have ever seen. I think they are trying to get these out to soon. It appears they need to take more time.

If I'm not mistaken, these grades are on a play-by-play basis. So if you, say, sucked it up in the first half but got better in the second, your grade could still be low because you were playing catch up. Also, if the plays are graded up or down by the magnitude of how good or bad that play was rather than a standard good, bad, great, poor, rating, then if you had some egregiously bad plays they could possibly outweigh the grade you received for good ones.
With Tannehill at least, I suspect his positive grades have to do with the plays he didn't try to make rather than the ones he made or failed on. -
Heres some fun info: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/09/08/refo-patriots-dophins-week-1/
Miami pressured Brady on 40% of his dropbacks
Gronkowski was a target on 44% of his routes (more relevant for fellow fantasy ballers )
Jordan Devey was beaten like a drum for 7 hurries/pressures/sacks. -
Interesting that PFF would be ok with letting a beat writer use those numbers in a blog.

Also, Cameron Wake, Earl Mitchell, Jimmy Wilson, Samson Satele and Brandon Albert all made their Team of the Week list.
That's some high praise.CrunchTime likes this. -
I was happy they retained Starks over Paul Soliai. He is underated IMO.
The signing of Earl Mitchell was inspired. He fits this defense very well.:up:77FinFan, Da 'Fins, Bpk and 1 other person like this. -

IMHO, PFF is better than any other site that "evaluates" and scores performances. They're not perfect, or even close to it, but they're definitely fairly reliable. They have a trainload of testimonials from execs, coaches, players, etc, so they can't be "that" bad.
One thing that they take into account that may make their numbers seem off, is they grade all plays...whether it was negated by penalty or whatever, they grade it. Things like penalties and turnovers, balls defensed/blocked carry a LOT of weight also. -
I don't get Tannehill's grade at all. As Trent Green pointed out, you can complete passes and be inaccurate. Tannehill played better in the second half, but that first half, including the post route INT wad awful.

how many missed tackles did Moreno have yesterday?

Can't see that Moreno grade.
I think there is some benefit to the grades at times but I don't think they are as accurate as ppl think. Not really a fan.
The Moreno grade is nonsense. No telling how many plays he made purely because he made a great cut.
On the final TD run, he broke five tackles on his own. Five. In fact, on that play, basically two blocks were made on the run side (there were a couple on the back side that were not as significant - but still made). The two key blocks were Colledge and Jarvis Landry. Both made huge blocks that gave Moreno a chance. But, Satele was horrific on that play. Ran straight forward watching the DT go right past him and then never touched another person; got to the goal line and turned around to see what Moreno was doing - with players to block in front of him. Just a terrible effort and bad play. -

I'll still say I'm nervous about this game though. We've lost, what, 3 of the last 4 against these guys?
The three guys that give me a reason to think we'll win a tough one are Lazor, Benton, and Moreno. -
-
The thing is their rating scale is from -2.0 to + 2.0.
They rarely ever give the extreme grade so even his best plays were probably only worth 1.0 -

Jimmy Wilson surprised me, I thought he was horse **** yesterday.

I'm so happy for Samson. I was watching him throughout the game. He was great. This is the first time in his career he's gotten this kind of respect.
