Oh boy how badly would that suck if it played out like that?
Beck barely behind Henne per PFF's projections?

Ouch. Well, can't say Henne has really had a performance that should make him be higher on the list. Hopefully he proves he can be a top QB this year.
-
wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth if Beck does start for Washington and out performs Henne
-
-
I'm a big fan of PFF but some of the names ahead of Henne on that list are pure comedy:
12- Stafford, more like 12 games missed due to injury
16- Tebow
17- Fitzpatrick
19- Campbell
21- Garrard
22- McCoy
23- Ponder
Only Tebow & McCoy will throw more INTs? Wow, even w/ a non existent run game Henne was in the mid 80's until his WR and OL fell apart late last year. I dont see the logic behind these rankings at all. -
-
Anyway, as pointed out, these are fantasy football projections... -
IMO Henne will end up between 15 and 25. I don't think he has any area of his game that is elite enough to get him into the top 5 or 10 over the course of the whole season. I think that with better play calling and a run based attack, that he will be closer to 15 than 25.

What interests me more is Henne's number of passing attempts, close to 600 or 38 or so per game which is too high imho.
That and with Daboll's new offense we have no idea what it will look like, which is way different from 2008 when what Henning did was well known, in 2011 will DThomas have his projected 259 carries, or will he have a a hillis like 270 carries? -

As for the projections, keep in mind folks, people pay money to subscribe to such services and we are only seeing the most basic of projections, personally I think Henne does better in 2011 if he wins the starting job.Fin-Omenal likes this. -
And, they include QB's rushing yardage and TD's, Not a strength of Henne's. The first number (598) DB, is Drop Backs. they have him for 538 attempts. -

They project Henne with 539 passing attempts or 33 per game, to me Henne should be under 30 per game and running the ball those extra 50 times? -
I like the fact that Henne is rated ahead of Sanchez, but in fairness to the Jets princess how in the hell is Beck rated ahead of him??
-
I happen to think if Henne does hit that mid 80's mark and the running game re-establishes itself, we will have a successful season on offense. -
-
Manning/Brady/Brees/Rivers?
Imho more efficiency is needed out of the Qb position rather than go snipe hunting for a Franchise Qb.
"If" Henne can hit his level, a sort of Jim Kelly, then we can look elsewhere to fill some holes imho.
I love Henne's toughness, he reminds me very much of Kelly in that regard. -
A lot is going to depend on who we add to the running game, and how Thomas pans out. -
And keep in mind not only were things such as rushing TD's down in 2010, so were rushing attempts, from 509 in 2009 to 445 in 2010, what I'm thinking is if those 74 more plays were running plays that averaged 4.5 or more per carry the offense would have performed much better, in 2011 we have to rekindle the running game imo.

I would definitely add Roethlisburger and ofc the Super Bowl winning QB Aaron Rodgers to that list. These are the established guys.
You could also argue for Ryan, Flacco, Freeman, Vick, Romo, Schaub and Manning the Younger as well. The "Sanchize" is borderline imo, not very impressive stats, but still quite young, and he has been to back to back Conference Championships. While those certainly were not all or even mostly due to him, he did have a rather torrid stretch of late game heroics, and frankly I seriously doubt they would have gone to the champ game with, say, Kellen Clemmons or Mark Brunnell starting.
Bradford (youth) and Stafford (injuries) are 2 guys who could also become elite quite quickly.
If you are looking for Hall of Fame, you are looking at Manning/Brady, with Big Ben and Rodgers having potential.
Franchise QB is just a guy you feel good going to war with, a guy who can steal wins (like manning against us last year), make the most of their surrounding cast, overcome adversity and consistently put points on the board.
I do not think the concept of a franchise QB is a mirage or unattainable. -
Which beggars the question, what is a "franchise" Qb? What does that mean..exactly?
That is one of the issues here imo, so and so is a "franchise" Qb..by what measurement? Didn't Matt Flynn step in and play well when Rodgers went down? Kolb did well enough in philly to have a first rd pick asked for him, what does "franchise qb" mean..exactly?
Potential? What does that mean? Potential to do what? -
If Ponder out performs Henne we can all wonder "What If"....I hope he doesnt but would it really shock anyone if he did?

That is interesting:
Henne is terrible in the 4th qtr 3 Td's and 8 int's
Henne is a good Qb when playing catchup:
9 Td's 7 int's
Henne is bad when playing with a lead:
2 TD's and 5 int's
Henne is good in the 3rd qtr:
4 td's 0 int's
Seems to me we really, really, do not want Chad Henne throwing the football in the 4th Qtr when we have a lead... -
Chad Henne at QB; Tony Sparano at HC.

Dang I wish this lockout was over with!:pity:DolfanJake and padre31 like this. -
IIRC you were a Beck fan and I thought you'd get a kick out of seeing his name as the starter in DC and what sort of numbers he would be projected to put up? -
Romo:1 playoff win
Rodgers: 2-3 in the playoffs (could be wrong on that one though)
That is the metric for a "franchise qb"? -

What with the Skins playing us in November I can't wait to see THAT game and really hope John will be the starter there. At the very least Shanny has not thrown him under the bus like Cam Cameron did both here and at the Ravens.
By all accounts the Shanny's like him alot and they sat him the whole year to let him learn Kiles offensive playbook. He was named the Backup when they sat McNabb. Gross was not resigned yet both Gross and John are holding lockout meetings for the team which includes the draftees. I see no reason for John to not be given every chance to do well and am pulling for him, as you well know!:lol:padre31 likes this. -
3,500 yds
25 tds
18 int's
Henne's 2010 season:
3,301
15 td's
18 int's -

10 more TD's in a full season is less then 1 additional TD per game, the Int's are the difference, Henne needs to add 10 Td's or so, and delete 3 int's while throwing them.
Possible, who knows though? -
I always liked Beck, thought he had tools that just did not show on the field or in practices, but that was 4 yrs ago..4!!!!gafinfan likes this. -
