Ouch. Well, can't say Henne has really had a performance that should make him be higher on the list. Hopefully he proves he can be a top QB this year.

I'm a big fan of PFF but some of the names ahead of Henne on that list are pure comedy:

12- Stafford, more like 12 games missed due to injury
16- Tebow
17- Fitzpatrick
19- Campbell
21- Garrard
22- McCoy
23- Ponder

Only Tebow & McCoy will throw more INTs? Wow, even w/ a non existent run game Henne was in the mid 80's until his WR and OL fell apart late last year. I dont see the logic behind these rankings at all.

Hasselbeck? Daboll hated Holmgren’s WCO influence in Cleveland, he’s not going to advocate for a WCO quarterback. And Daniel Thomas isn’t getting 300 carries, nor would that particularly help Chad Henne become a top 10 QB.

Anyway, as pointed out, these are fantasy football projections...

 

IMO Henne will end up between 15 and 25. I don't think he has any area of his game that is elite enough to get him into the top 5 or 10 over the course of the whole season. I think that with better play calling and a run based attack, that he will be closer to 15 than 25.

 

I highly doubt Fantasy Football projections are mathematical.

And, they include QB's rushing yardage and TD's, Not a strength of Henne's. The first number (598) DB, is Drop Backs. they have him for 538 attempts.

 

Thats not entirely accurate. I'd be willing to make a rather large bet we'll see zone blocking + stretch plays, outside zone runs, belly plays and counters from Daboll. Also, IIRC Daboll likes to run those deep digs, which is one route Henne actually does well to hit with accuracy IMO. We may not know exactly everything he's going to do, but we have a good idea of some of the stuff he'll do. :up:

 

I don't think it's year 3 for QBs. I think that the better number to look at is 1000 pass attempts. At that point the game generally starts to slow down or doesn't. Of course that often happens after about three years of playing. I just think people get confused and say year 3 even if the QB sat one or two years. He's just under that 1000 attempt mark now so this will be a an incredibly telling year for him. If he manages that mid 80s level, then he will be a nice place holder while we look for the guy with franchise potential. If not, we'll be looking for anything to fill the spot.

 

I like the fact that Henne is rated ahead of Sanchez, but in fairness to the Jets princess how in the hell is Beck rated ahead of him??

 

I agree that that would most likely result in a successful offensive season. Our overall success would depend on the development of the D. We'll still be looking for that franchise QB, but at least our QB wouldn't be costing us games and even winning a few for us.

 

I don't know. Henne had 490 last year, with 3 games of 15,16, and 18. He should have better weapons, being more familiar with Marshall, hopefully no injuries, and Gates and Clay should add something.

A lot is going to depend on who we add to the running game, and how Thomas pans out.

I would definitely add Roethlisburger and ofc the Super Bowl winning QB Aaron Rodgers to that list. These are the established guys.

You could also argue for Ryan, Flacco, Freeman, Vick, Romo, Schaub and Manning the Younger as well. The "Sanchize" is borderline imo, not very impressive stats, but still quite young, and he has been to back to back Conference Championships. While those certainly were not all or even mostly due to him, he did have a rather torrid stretch of late game heroics, and frankly I seriously doubt they would have gone to the champ game with, say, Kellen Clemmons or Mark Brunnell starting.

Bradford (youth) and Stafford (injuries) are 2 guys who could also become elite quite quickly.

If you are looking for Hall of Fame, you are looking at Manning/Brady, with Big Ben and Rodgers having potential.

Franchise QB is just a guy you feel good going to war with, a guy who can steal wins (like manning against us last year), make the most of their surrounding cast, overcome adversity and consistently put points on the board.

I do not think the concept of a franchise QB is a mirage or unattainable.

 

If Ponder out performs Henne we can all wonder "What If"....I hope he doesnt but would it really shock anyone if he did?

Franchise QB is simple for me. It's what the organization is willing to invest in the player. If the organization is willing to dole out long term, big dollar contracts, then they view that player as a franchise player.

Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Schaub, Tony Romo, and Ben Roethlisberger are franchise players. They're not hitting the FA market any time soon.

So if Henne hits a sort of Jim Kelly level.....a guy that made the HOF we can look elsewhere....I agree but this is a extremely high level to aim for isn't it?

Far be it for me to disappoint you padre. Johnny will do much better than that imo. The word in most of the Redskin forums is that He will do no worse than Gross out and more than likely better. IPOF those guys seem more than willing to give him a chance. Plus THEY think that Miami will be jumping all over McNabb, I laugh at that thought!

What with the Skins playing us in November I can't wait to see THAT game and really hope John will be the starter there. At the very least Shanny has not thrown him under the bus like Cam Cameron did both here and at the Ravens.

By all accounts the Shanny's like him alot and they sat him the whole year to let him learn Kiles offensive playbook. He was named the Backup when they sat McNabb. Gross was not resigned yet both Gross and John are holding lockout meetings for the team which includes the draftees. I see no reason for John to not be given every chance to do well and am pulling for him, as you well know!:lol:

 

A 10 td difference is huge, thats the separation between elite Qbs and good Qbs, big difference. Not sure if you watched Kelly perform against us for years but he's lightyears ahead of Henne, I mean its not even close enough to talk about it. I would settle for Henne being 70% as good as Kelly, I think we could win a lot of games with him if he was that good. He made the HOF off of 4 Superbowl appearance.....um yeah thats kind of the way it works.

 

Thomas was awesome, god knows he lived off screen passes against our defense but Kelly ran one of the all time best NFL offenses in the no huddle for years at a pro bowl level. He deservedly got elected to the HOF and there simply hasn't been a single indicator that Henne possesses his level of talent. A little less than 1 TD more per game last year and we'd have contended for the Superbowl Padre. I was a big Henne supporter and always hope for the best for our Qbs but I have to say I'm not that optimistic about Henne next year.
