Good analysis and it echoes my own thoughts- Suh will really be the only one missed. But for Suh, we got a starting guard, a starting DE and a starting WR...plus enough left over to sign a couple of draft picks. The math just didn't work in Suh's favor.

Weird. A couple of weeks ago I thought Hurst would be good for us too, but I have since changed my mind. I didn't see the suddenness I expected to see after reading his write-ups. I know they actually watch film and know a lot more than I do, but I am surprised that they would think he would be better for us than Vea or Payne. I must be missing something.

I haven't studied Payne or Hurst much so I can't comment there (yet), but I'll be disappointed if we take Vea at 11.djphinfan, DolfanR, Surfs Up 99 and 1 other person like this. -

Vea top 15
Payne top 20
Bryan top 25
Hurst Phillips bj Hill top 50
Hurst ideal 3 tech fit. Not as explosive as I’d prefer with a top 25 pick
Phillips great hand use and leverage play. Best leverage play in the class
Bryan initial get off and gap quickness not good at the poa gets washed out when double teamed and awareness needs work. Runs himself out of things at times. Needs more hand use also. Most pass rush upside and potential especially as he learns to use his hands
I like this dt class for Miami. Pick 42 considerations hurst, phillips bj Hill
I’d take any of these dts at 42 over a Malik Jefferson or a Justin reidRedwine4all likes this. -

Only va tech kids I’ve looked at are Edmunds and the guard who has stone feet and I’m a hard pass on.
I’ve heard this before over the years but vea comp seems to be haloti gnata except more polished coming out. Which is a mouth full. If he hits that level he will well be worth the 11 pick. Gnata was a monster in his prime. I don’t see 2 gap plugger with vea. If I did he wouldn’t be on my list.
Payne is damn good too we are talking about a difference of 5 slots grade wise for medanmarino likes this. -

I like Hurst over either of them.

Please check out tim settle. Would be a great pick at 42. Much better than phillips.Redwine4all likes this. -
Notice how they only talked about our defensive live for our offense. This is because of the turnover. I think we need to full invest in defense the whole draft. I would be satisfied with no offensive players picked except maybe a project tight end that we think is decent. Our defense is so bad the way it stands now especially at linebacker.

Oh you mean backing up a dump truck full of money for the best DT in the game ended up not being worth it? DTs don't have a huge impact on wins and losses? You mean all that stuff I said when Suh was signed 3 years ago and everyone told me I was wrong?

I have Payne over Vea..
I see a bit more upside in pass rushing tools, and Payne shows excellent technique in playing the run, very good at it..strong and stout as well, body and frame is perfect..
What does Vea do better besides being bigger?
