Everyone already knows that Henning said some fans don't know what they are talking about. Now, Sparano says he could care less of what fans think
about the QB situation.
To me, this is somewhat refreshing to see coaches say what they really think. They are entitled to their opinions, same as we are.

good, cause if the fans knew anything about the qb situation, that tony and the FO didnt know, then the fans wouldnt be fans.....they'd be in the nfl

love it. that was one of my favorite things about parcells when he was coach in new york. i really think players and coaches should avoid the media as much as possible. i'm glad we got a bit of a bunker mentality going on. i hate the miami media with a passion. honestly its worse than the new york media. miami media just looks to find problems where problems dont exist

Maybe Henning wouldn't have to fire back at detractors if he actually called a good game for once. Yeah Dan, we don't know what we are talking about. We aren't smart enough to come away with 3 points after having 2nd and goal from the 2.

Tony Sparano not interested in fans’ opinions on quarterback situation
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?sl...ted_in_fans_opinions_on_quarterback_situation
I like our coaches but they shouldn't get cocky. Public opinion buys tickets and replaces coaches. Shula got replaced many years ago due to fan and media outrage. Instead of "firing back" they should prove us wrong and fix what needs to be fixed. It is always best to do the talking on the field.
Henne will be a great QB but he has 18 interceptions in 10 games. If they want to shut the fans up they can start by fixing this. If they piss off the fans they won't be there very long when no one buys tickets. Pretty simple math, and math that Ross will surely understand.
If I were our coaches I would shut my mouth and do my talking on the field. It is the path of least resistance.djphinfan likes this. -
I am glad our coaching staff has balls but the underlying message could be a tricky one if it goes wrong (and I said "IF", because it may be fine). Anything you say in the media ALWAYS get twisted. It's the medias job to twist things.
I admire our balls but this was not a smart move. It speaks to frustration and a loss of control. You must always have control or at least give the illusion of having total control. You need to look no farther than government to learn that lesson.
I hope I am wrong, but this could make things worse (just saying......)Pandarilla likes this. -

Yea, well I'm a fan of the Miami Dolphins and I could care less what the coaches have to say. Especially an offensive coordinator who managed to have Ricky throw a pick and a head coach who called a timeout right after an INT. I never cared for Sparano and I still don't.
-
I fully understand, and commend, coaches taking a few shots back at fans after COUNTLESS THOUSANDS going the other way.
However, as a fan, I would really appreciate more info coming from the coaches after reviewing game films. I watch a game 2-3 times but, still cannot see most of what is going on.
There are many very knowledgeable fans here who, I believe with more info, may have different opinions on play calls and Henne. JMOcobrajet likes this. -
Now Henning is just wrong for his part, and should be fired. -
Everyone in today's society has a 2 minute mentality; from microwave ovens to cell phones. Henning had better get used to the fans demanding immediate satisfaction. Building a winner takes a long time, but the fans will not be as patient as the coaching staff.
I feel bad for the coaches, they are working as hard as they can....Southbeach and adamprez2003 like this. -
What pissed me off about what Hennong said is that instead of owning up to it and saying it was a bad call, he pretty much said "Yeah, well what the **** do you know?"
Granted, Dolphins fans are for the most part pretty damn stupid. -
Henning had said that when the D makes a good/great play, it's coaching. When the O makes a good/great play, it is the players.
I tend to agree. Nolan, at this point, appears to be the "Chosen One." -

IDK if ignoring the fans is right or not, but it will hurt ticket sales and make Ross panic. Tuna has one foot out the door which speaks volumes already. ouch.....adamprez2003 likes this. -

Television contracts pay for those.

We see so little on the networks as to what's going on over the rest of the field. Why did Henne throw there? Why did we run that play against that D? What was the D doing, etc, etc.? -
WEll, the way I see it Sparano was backing his guy Henne, now it is up to Henne to produce..not yds..TD's..that is what he is there for.

Do you see many television contracts given to teams with empty seats and losing records? Without fans buying merchandising, tickets and hot dogs this ship has no sails.
The coaches get paid the big bucks to handle the pressure and it looks like they are doing a poor job of it. They should shut up and do their job. Everyone likes a winner, no one likes a wiener.
All is not lost but no good can come from what TS said to the media. -
and as far as that douche henning goes, he better keep his mouth shut because the last time i checked, he hasn't been doing too hot lately. wildcat schmildcat. -
Lets not hyperventilate. After we beat GB and PT all of this infighting will be moot and the sky will be blue again. Have faith!

I believe that once our Phins wine is aged a bit, there will be much fewer whines from everyone. -
CBS, FOX, NBC, and ESPN/ABC sign contracts with the NFL front office giving them the rights to broadcast certain games in exchange for a price. CBS gets AFC road games, FOX gets NFC road games, etc. The broadcasters then sell advertising to make the money to pay those contracts. The money from those contracts gets distributed to the 32 teams, and we’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars.
Unsold tickets are irrelevant. Blackouts are irrelevant. The teams get paid regardless of whether or not we the fans buy tickets. Ticket revenue doesn’t even come close to the annual costs of player and coach contracts. Nowhere near close.
Here, I’ll prove it with math. Forbes lists Sun Life Stadium’s seating capacity at 75,540, and the average ticket price at $66.
$66 x 75,540 = $4,985,640 in ticket revenue per game.
$4,985,640 x 8 home games = $39,885,120 in ticket revenue per season.
The 2009 NFL salary cap was ~$120 million. Please explain how ~$40 million in ticket revenue can pay for ~$120 million in player contracts, let alone the additional ~$10 million or so in coaching salaries.
So yes, your premise is flawed. Sparano can disregard fan opinion at his will. We don’t pay him, he’s not bound to follow our dictates. The only two people he has to listen to are Jeff Ireland and Stephen Ross. Ireland is his boss, and Ross’ signature is on the paychecks, not “Miami Dolphins fans”.
When you buy the Miami Dolphins, then Sparano will listen to your opinion about the quarterback situation.BlameItOnTheHenne, Phins28, padre31 and 3 others like this. -

All of this stuff is nonsense Deej, the only thing that matters is wins and losses, if we win tomorrow, no one will care, if Henne screws the pooch then this will linger, you can see that from here.djphinfan likes this. -

They are obviously held in higher regard than fans saying the same. So, they re-enforce the feelings of some, and not others.
Sounds like forum stuff. -
Experience says when coaches and managers start making a fuss over fans statements its not a good sign. Being a Dolphins and Orioles fan I've gone through a lot of firings this past decade.

Remember, the context of this discussion is whether or not Sparano should be disregarding fan opinion based on the fact that fans buy tickets. My point is that fans don’t pay Sparano’s salary, so that argument is null. -
Well, **** you too, Tony. I'm going to boo your *** next week.
That is all.
I look forward to watching us run the Wildcat on 3rd & 6 tomorrow, or better yet, how about a quadruple reverse to Joe Berger?
Maybe another Ricky Williams redzone INT?Pandarilla likes this. -
I don't care about what Sparano says concerning the QB situation. I agree with him on his decision there. But if he's seriously defending Dan Henning then there is a SERIOUS PROBLEM with him and perhaps he needs to be replaced as well. Actually, forget about "perhaps".... I'm kind of tired of these averages head coaches that have the potential to be decent on a good day. I want greatness. This current coaching staff (aside from Nolan) is incapable of greatness from top to bottom and there is no doubt about that in my mind.Pandarilla likes this. -

Poor performance, yes. Blackouts, no. And no, one doesn’t necessarily dictate the other. The Raiders have been god-awful for years and they still routinely sell out. -
But, hypothetically speaking, if the Miami Dolphins fans managed to organize a boycott of the stadium unless Sparano gets fired, it wouldn't take more than a home game or two to get it done.
