The Dolphins have had numerous injuries which impacted the team over the past two seasons. Some, like Marshall and Dansby, were for a matter of games. Others, like Allen and Odrick, were for the season. And a few, like Penny and Grove, were for their careers.
How did these injuries affect the team's past, present, and future as far as our records, player development, drafts, FA, trades, depth, fans, etc.? Any silver linings created by them?
For example, Odrick starts and gets hurt, missing almost the entire year. Starks moves over and plays very well. Soliai moves in and plays great. We don't have to draft or sign a NT. Mc D plays more and well. And we likely won a game or so due to Odrick's injury.

I see Odrick as being a bust honestly because of the injuries. -
How about the injuries to Grove and Smiley. IF they stayed healthy we could have Cog with them, and no need to pick Jerry or Pouncey. That would have made a big difference.

As for the injuries, hate the excuse virus SB, Sparano and his staff did a better job of coaching up guys, and Ireland found better players, this is not an issue and really should never really be an issue. -
No excuse or issue Padre. Just looking at the domino effects of injuries, both good and bad. How Ireland and Sparano handled them is a part of it.

That situation means we have no proven depth..by design, that is how they do things, for example 50% of the linebacking corps from 09 moving into 10 was released, 5 guys, those guys played ST as well the Andersons and Ayodele's, ST cost us games in 2010.
We have no veteran depth on any unit, on this team, nowhere, maybe Will Allen if he comes back or Sapp, that is about it, look at the Te corps, we have Fasano and unknowns, Fasano goes down and the offense suffers as Shuler and Co are not up to speed, that is squarely on Ireland and Sparano. -

So Hartline goes down, we look to the bench and find not Greg C, but Marlon Moore, Greg C produces and you know what you are getting, MM not so much, Sparano went with MM. -

No offseason, not even OTA reports, no FA signings, nothing, we are sort of grinding metal on metal.
Think you are incorrect about Odrick, but the great thing about the NFL is we all find out one way or another. -
Time to take a look at an injury impact which will not cause any controversy or bashing.
Henne was expected to take over the team, and to be our future. However, Penny's injury forced the timing of the takeover. Was Henne ready at that time? Did the timing help or hurt his development, and the QB he is now? Or, did it not matter? -

Don't forget all the other injuries to the OL that we had the last season...by the end of the year it was difficult just to get warm bodies along that OL. McQ, Berger, Feinga, Murtha all saw some playing time and I'm sure they were not the first choice, but the only choice.
Attrition during the season has been an ongoing issue with this team...not just during this regimes' tenure either... -

As I remember, Penne was not allowed around the team after his injury. Was that for games only or practice as well?
