Wow, that's interesting.

My one question would be whether he's healthy or not.

This is the nail in the coffin for John Jerry.

Eric Steinbach has been a bad player for a long time, and I don't understand why they would sign him over Jake Scott or even like maybe a rusty old-school style aluminum garbage can.

Jeff Ireland making questionable offensive line roster moves? Say it ain't so.

Back surgery is always a fickle thing...a 80% Steinbach at RG is still much better than Jerry I think.

I'd really strenuously disagree with that. John Jerry last year was better than Eric Steinbach has been in a very long time. I don't think I've seen many linemen who have stuck around as awful, highly paid starters since maybe Alan Faneca.

there was a report some days ago that stated he is healthy

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports free agent OG Eric Steinbach is "recovered" from his back problems, and will work out for the Ravens on Tuesday.
Per La Canfora, there are also "other AFC teams interested" in the former Brown's services. Steinbach would likely battle fellow veteran Bobbie Williams for left guard duties in Baltimore. Jul 23 - 9:39 PM

My opinion of John Jerry is so low that I would perfer YOU play RG than him...I will not discount that having the worst starting RT next to him didnt hurt his play though.

6 mill was his salary at the Browns, wonder what his current value will be.

He might be a bad player, or maybe he was just unhealthy, I don't really know...but you have to look at the timing of this. The players just weighed in this morning. Eric Steinbach gets signed by afternoon.

Someone came in overweight and my guess is it's John Jerry.

Thing to note also is Joe Philbin coached Steinbach in college.

I think Miami still had one roster spot available...not 100% sure on that.

He used to be good. You never know with these vet guards though. One season they can be ****ty and the next good. So doesn't hurt to bring him in. Not holding my breath though

I don't think he would be expected to start over Artis Hicks, IMO.

On the PFF grading, have to take it with a grain of salt. I reviewed Artis Hicks' games in Washington as a Guard in 2010 and came out totally disagreeing with their grading, not just the season long -9.0 grade but the individual game grades.

Jake Scott must have a serious defect or be holding out for way too much money.

If Jerry is gone, then Hicks moves from the "top backup" (as the team reported viewed him to be) to the de facto starting RG. Steinbach becomes camp depth.

The latter, IMO.

That pretty much already happened. Hicks has been the starter for a while now.

Definitely, but I'm more addressing the media angle. I don't doubt that Hicks has been penciled in as the starter ever since the Jake Scott visit ended.
