Garcon just turned down an offer from the colts and it looks like he will hit the market.
I know he drops some balls but he would sure keep the safety honest and open up the underneath stuff for marshall and bess as long as the price is right.

I wonder why he turned down the contract. Free agency is deep at WR and the draft is even deeper. Unless the offer was pure crap I doubt he gets better.

Id like Garcon opposite Marshall, but I think he will demand more than he is worth.

It might be about money but I would not be overly surprised to learn it was about an internal conflict inside the organazation. That team is really in a mess right now. New GM, new Coach, their better playes are looking like they are opting to test the FA market as opposed to resigning. Andrew Luck may have even less of a team and staff around him then Manning had. -
I would be really excited to pick him up. I think he would be a perfect compliment to Marshall and a good upgrade to Hartline. A 1-2-3-4 of Marshall, Garcon, Bess, Hartline could cause some damage.
I never really brought up before because the pundits all seemed pretty sure Indy would resign him. If he is looking for #1 money that would probably be a deal breaker, but for a decent price if we can get him, we should not hesitate.
Add a TE like maybe Fleener or Allen in the draft, drop some $ on Flynn ... sounds like a plan to me! -
Well, I was gonna say he's another WR made to look better than he is because of Peyton Manning, but I see he had his best year ever while Peyton was out. Granted they were playing from behind every game. If he could be had at a reasonable price, might make sense.

with our cap situation , he is a luxury we cant afford
-
I would like Miami to grab him and Peyton combo. But my bet is that he winds up in Arizona. They are looking for a reasonably priced number two opposite fitz and my gut says they'll target garcon now. Well see.

Maybe he's waiting to see where Manning winds up?

I don't see the Dolphins spending a lot of money on the wide receiver position in free agency. Yet if they decide to open their wallets and go after a free agent WR, I would rather see them spend the money on Vincent Jackson instead of spending it on Garcon. With Marshall on one side and Jackson on the other side, this would certainly create problems for defenses around the league if the Dolphins can actually sign a quality QB.

While I certainly feel that the wide receiver position needs an upgrade at the #2 spot. With QB, offensive line, safety, TE, LB, and a pass rushing defensive lineman being bigger needs, I would be extremely surprised if the Dolphins spend any of their cap money in free agency on the WR position. -

I'm with ya' on this one, jw....we could spend enough to get a safety or two and a 2nd tier pass rushing DE/OLB and better this team for the same money as signing Jackson or Garcon (guessing he want's #1 WR money)...
We just need someone who can stretch the field a bit more than the stable of WRs we have...Gates might be that guy, but it's too early to tell yet. I think Philbin and Sherman figure a way to get things from Bess, Hartline and Gates that we haven't seen yet with this offense. Now, if they expect Manning to be the guy here, then they will need to spend enough to upgrade the position of WR without a doubt... -
He's a playmaker who is about to hit the prime of his career. He managed a good season with Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky playing for god's sake. I am not concerned about hit YPC - who else was threatening the defense? That he put up a decent year at all indicates the kind of season he had. An under the radar guy and if he can come for a decent price we would be stupid to turn him down.
Marshall to draw coverage, an accurate QB to hit him in stride, a TE to exploit the middle. This is the kind of dynamic we need to open this offense up. -

With their limited money under the salary cap and their more pressing needs at QB, and the other positions I noted earlier, I just can't see Garcon or any other top free agent WR being a member of the Dolphins next season. I think it is going to take the Dolphins at least two more years of drafts and free agency before they are able to get into a position where they can spend money on a player like Garcon. Right now they need to fix too many other weaknesses on the roster.
In fact if the Colts don't franchise Garcon, I think there is a very good chance Garcon or Vincent Jackson will be a member of the Patriots next season. The Patriots have a lot more salary cap money to spend in free agency and they certainly have a need for a receiver like Jackson or Garcon. If they decide to not pay Welker the money he is looking for, I could see both Jackson and Garcon being Patriots next season. Of course I tend to think that the Patriots and Brady certainly want Welker on their roster next season. -
