I definitely think he had plenty of good points in that interview and I cant blame him or anyone else in his position for feeling that way about the Patriots and what Goodell did.

Im not even gonna get into what happened with him here last year because its already been beaten to death.

 

its not his fault we opened the checkbook for him.

 

And yet everything he just said makes a whole lot of sense.

porter started off slow after the injury and made an effort to improve. that has to be worth something

 

I am not disagreeing with what he says. He just has a real bad habit of opening his mouth when he should just keep it shut.

 

I may be wrong here but I can only recall one or two times he has been wrong by opening his mouth. I know one was against KW2.

Ok so by that way of thinking then hes supposed to just keep quiet about possibly missing 2 superbowls because another team could of had an unfair advantage? If you just got potentially screwed out of 2 rings I would hope that you and anyone else would have something to say about it.

Him not having an opinion about that would be BS IMO. And its not like he was barking and *****ing like a moron. His statements and ideas were thoughtout and presented very well. I think he handled himself nicely in that interview.

Same here. I would be livid if I was him as soon as that info came out. I'm sure he probably was but hes had awhile to calm down and collect himself so that helped. I was pleasantly suprised with that interview.

 

I think porter is dead on, and I love that at least someone has something to say about this!!! Hopefully some other guys on this team take notice. Not so they'll run their mouths in the press, but so theyll develop a real hatred for playing new england twice a year!!!

Ive made this point many, many times on this board: We always want players to be honest and when they are we KILL them for it.

These guys are in a lose/lose situation IMO. If they keep their mouths shut everyone says they should speak up and be honest, then when they do they are criticized for those opinions and told to shut up an just play.

JP has earned the right to speak his mind. Hes a vet whos had a solid career and answered a question honestly. I also feel he echoed the thoughts of MANY other players on this matter. To work as hard as these guys do and feel someone cheated you? If you're not mad about that theres something seriously wrong with you...

For those who haven't seen it. We need this in our lockeroom. Who's going to be the vocal leader this year now? Think of one person who would overpower Joey in that lockeroom.

Anybody think Under Armor fashioned the role of that guy in their commercial after Joey? Same cadence, same voice etc.

I would just like to see Porter do his talking with his play on the field. But I agree with what he said, the Pats do deserve an asterisk by their SB wins.

 

I agree with this. What he said is true. But its also true that Joey SUUUUUCCCCKKEED last year. I'll make a deal with Joey...go out there and sack Brady three times, motivate your other teammates to play well and beat the Patriots. After that, say anything you want. But *****ing and crying after a 1-15 season is unbecoming.

Right now, he has (or he should have, at least) way more important things to worry about.

 

In his defense.. we all knew he was not being played to take advantage of his talents last year.. that for intents and purposes he was played "out of position" so to speak. He addresssed this issue in an interview just last week I think, pretty much said what we here had been *****ing about all last year. Put him where he has always produced. I think we will see an improvement across the board in our defense, as THIS regime will I think do a much better job of utilizing the talent we do have.

 

At least when he was whining, it wasn't the usual whine unhappy players sport.He was thinking back after the info on spygate made him realize he been screwed during 2 championship games.The AFC has a lot more to be pissed about over spygate than does the NFC.

At the same time though, I do agree, I think there should be an asterik or something next to the Patriots in the record books.

The best thing last year was the NY Daily News -- in their standings section of the NFL -- they had an asterik next to New England all season and at the bottom of the standings it said "Caught Cheating" :sidelol:

This is going to come off as really bad for him because it's him talking. Due to his past of saying incredibly stupid things most people will take this as him being stupid again. To be honest though, for the most part he has some great points and im glad someone is speaking up, even if it is porter.

 

Not really FinsAReLife. It was his team that they cheated against in the playoffs apparently (at least that's how he feels) I know in Ben's first year the Pats knocked them out. Maybe one other time too. And he has won a ring so there is no "oh losers always talking, jealous" etc..

And ... the Pats are straight cheaters. Go find one non-patriot fan that doesn't think so. Everyone and I mean everyone is going to agree with this one. Especially with the IR player issue now.

 

This is the first reasonable and intelligent thing Joey Porter has said in about five years.

 

See how a respected coach and football team defer to Porter in that clip. I mean Cowher just passes off the team over to him. Fans of the team that are victim to his talking (or just don't like loud talkers anyway) don't like him, but a HOF coach and a Superbowl winning team show him respect and follow him onto the field. That's a leader.

 

I see a hell of a lot more similarities in Sparano and Co. to Cowher then I did with Cameron (obviously). I think Sparano def is the right kind of personality to know how to properly use Porter on and off the field.

I dont understand the *****ing and crying comment. He was talking the Patriots. He stated his opinion on a team who didn't play fair for possibly the last eight or nine years like MP stated and they won rings that they maybe shouldn't have. If you mean that the scandal could have affected the W/L column, it may have...... while he was in Blitzburgh. They did lose the AFC championship game to NE if I remember correctly and Patriots did seem to know what play was being run by them being in on every play. I don't have ONE problem with Porter's comments.

 

Some people's listening and reading skills are suspect to say the least.

He has made some really good posts around here.
