Why is all I want to know?
Why do I torture myself?
Why do we get clubbed but I cant wait for next week to get here?
Why have I been doing this for 40 years to myself?
I must have something really short circuited up stairs. Its easy to just pick up on a team like New England or Green Bay who seem to win consistently. But no matter how good they are it doesn't seem to matter. Scarey part is there are many like me. Why? What have we done to deserve this mediocre bull**** for 15 years. There is no end in sight either.
Why not throw the hands up in the air and go talk about how frigging good Tom Brady is? They make sure you know how to spell Belicheck's name on the web site before you sign up..........lol Philbin who?

This is not a story about New England but what has become the norm for all of us: The Franchises, the fans. Football has become an illusion and switching teams is Benedict Arnold in my opinion.
But then again would history remember - I wonder.....................................

76Ers fan in basketball, and Fins fan in football, and I am as equally as passionate about both of these teams.
-
I actually have the same thoughts at times about this team but I don't give up because when we will eventually be good I would hate myself that I gave up or even worse just switched teams.
-
I still think we are 7-9 or 8-8. Instead of letting Campbell continue, we will try to make a splash. It is the Dolphin way and probably a mistake. Worst part about it is Campbell will probably end up on the outside looking in or with another Franchise and that just doesn't seem right. -
I get angry and frustrated, but giving up just isn't on the table for me. I've been a Dolphins fan since I was 8 years old, and diehard since I was 13. We haven't been to the AFC title game since I was 15, but my love and passion for the team will never wane. The team is a part of me. To stop being a fan would be like asking me to cut off my left arm.
The people who are part of the problem will eventually be gone. We can only hope that those who replace them will be better -

I'm not as emotionally attached at this point, it's simply a self preservation thing, you get tired of feeling like someone kicked you in the guts every sunday so i've become emotionally detached.
A big reason for this also, is that I haven't had faith in the FO for a few years, basically since Ross took over, but it was more based on Ireland at the time, however, when Ross came out and said we're going to the SB with Henne and that he was going to be as good as Dan, I immediately started doubting him, and he hasn't given me much reason to change my mind yet.
These dark times will make the resurgence that much sweeter though, hopefully it's sooner rather than later. -

Second this thread is not about giving up. It is about what makes us keep going and supporting these dumb mother ****ers year after year after year. Same stuff over and over. Kind of like the movie - Live Die repeat
the biggest glaring thing about what happened Thursday is we are far away from being a team like New England. It just humbles you. And again you ask the question - why do I deserve this?dolphin25 and PhinFan1968 like this. -
Do we really expect a different result or is the mirage built in to the fact that if we get our 10th coach in 15 seasons that maybe, just maybe he will do something different this time that puts this team on a different path.
Yes you are correct, and it is an excellent way to put it, we dont give up because the team has become part of us. Very well articulated.
Now I got to figure out a damn way to get it out of me............exorcism???dolphin25 likes this. -

I lived and grew up in south Florida, my Dad and I were excited when they decided to put an AFL Franchise in Miami. We were fans from the start, when George Wilson was the coach and Dick Wood was the quarterback, and Flipper was just outside one of the end zones. We suffered through the expansion years until Don Shula arrived and everything changed, We watched games together being excited and enjoying the wins and the disappointment of losses. My Dad and I shared the excitement of the 1972 undefeated Super Bowl winning season, and we again shared most of the 1973 Super Bowl season. My Dad passed away before the Super Bowl win. My Dad Loved the Dolphins, loved to watch them with me. They had a special place in our lives. They are a legacy to me that I inherited from my Dad and now my Son shares it with me. The Dolphins have been struggling for a long time now with different owners, different coaches, different GMs but I wont ever give up on them. I will love the Dolphins and I will maintain my hope until I pass away.

I was born in 92. At least some of you saw some damn playoff wins.

after a loss like that, I get obsessed with trying to figure out why we looked the way we did..are they that much better than us talent wise, is the difference in qb'ing make one team look completely superior than the other...were we just as hyped as the other games yet totally got outschemed leaving us flailing for answers that were not there, were they just flat and tired and mentally were not ready to play.? all scenarios that go thru my head..
couple things from going back looking at things...jmo here, doing some physco-analysis, im not saying im convinced of this, but, it just looked to me from watching the pregame stuff, watching him walk around in stretch drills and hours before kickoff interacting with his team, that he was feeling empathy towards the players, when I was watching him walk up to players I thought to myself he looks like he's grateful to them, just by how he touched the shoulder pads and shook their hands, some of the expressions he had, it was different, its hard to explian, I think he felt grateful to them for giving him all they had {especially physically} the past three weeks after the firing, and I think he thought that asking them to give more during a very short week, was simply asking to much from them..
in his presser if you noticed he said, ''these players deserved some time off''...
as crazy as it may sound, from what I saw, I dont think he wanted them to use up their energy for this game, I dont think he felt right asking them to give their all, and everything he did with his one on one interactions demonstarted such.. -
It was easier for Belichick to scheme to shut down our running game than it was for us to stop Brady's passing assault. Simple as that.

if we see crazed dog demeanor in bufflo then theres a chance he didnt want to push his players in new england...remember, he pushed them harder than other teams are doing at this point in the season...of course hes not gonna come out and say it, but if he felt that way, then players would pick up on it...this dude is fresh out of the nfl...he knows, he can read his players, when to push when not to, its a long season, maybe he's just smarter or more intuitive than we think.
I'll say this, because if you think the team was playing with the same intenisty as the previous weeks and we just got killed based on scheme then I disagree...I think the team was emotionally checked out, and I think the head coach made it the way, on purpose or subconscioulsy. -

Obviously it was easier to shut down the running game on our own. We went away from it and then got back to it when we put Gray in the game. WTF
Also it drives me crazy to hand the ball off two yards back on third and short.

I respect you though. You've never had even the joy of a team that was a playoff contender every season, and yet you're still here.number21 likes this. -
I was born in 66, the same year the team was born. I wore Mercury Morris and Larry Czonka jerseys to school in first and second grades. I was the biggest Marino fan in the world in HS and college. In the 90s I would go to several games a year despite living 3 hours away. Once Marino retired, I started to lose passion, though I still attended many games per season until 2002. These last 14 years since we lost that playoff game to the Ravens after the 2001 season, I just haven't been able to get as excited about this team. I am not ready to give up on them, but I can't seem to invest as much emotionally in them as I used to.

I think I have conditioned myself not to expect too much, then when it happens I am pleasantly surprised. I never say, they will beat so and so next week because it always seems to jinx them and I end up being disappointed. I always root for them and always hope for the best but my faith has worn a little thin.

Cause we're going to beat Buffalo and people will realize the Mighty Dolphins aren't going away.
Actually without Cam Wake I don't know if we will beat Buffalo. LOL. Next man up needs to step up. -
We are one of the biggest jokes in the league. We are the Dolphins and no one respects us. Like the Cleveland Browns of the South. That's how I feel about the Dolphins, but I keep coming back cause I don't feel passion for any other team. -

I try to enjoy the highs of rooting for the team, and just forget about the lows. I tend to move on from losses quickly. I work in healthcare, so it's humbling. To go to work Monday morning and deal with a patient who is dying, and has a 4 year old daughter at home with no family or friends to care for her after mom passes on... suddenly, I don't care about the outcome of a football game anymore, good or bad. I do spend time trying to analyze what went wrong in terms of game planning and preparation. I love the Dolphins no matter what. I could never switch teams.
