I have to express my appreciation and respect for the entire staff of ThePhins!
I have been posting on this and other sites(finheaven). I have been very frustrated with the culture of the other site. Some very ignorant fans have turned that site in to flame and troll central. This is not to denigrate the staff of that site, but it just makes me so much more appreciative of this site.
We have so many knowledgeable and objective fans here. I feel I can be express myself without being flamed. I want to become a VIP when I can afford to in the near future. Please continue to build a site were fans can feel the are at home and can express themselves freely without all the vitriol.

I agree 100%. This site is free of a lot of the negativity that you get on other boards. I always enjoy coming to ThePhins.

As long as the current members and new ones realize that and keep it that way, we will have some great times, insight, perspective, new friendships, support for each other, which brings everyone together because of our beloved Phins.
It makes you feel like you live in a small town, spread out across the North America and the world. Where people care about each other and help each other out to better everyone involved.dolphindebby, CrunchTime, cnc66 and 1 other person like this. -

Great post! I agree! I've always lurked over on Finheaven, but not posted much....too many immature posts and bickering. I got lucky and found a link to last weeks streamed game by Medieval and saw Celt put up a link to here. Didn't even know this place existed, but am damn glad it does! Great site run by great folks! Thank you, from a Northwesterner who doesn't get much Dolphin coverage up here.

I think we all want the same thing....to have a great Miami Dolphin's team to cheer for. Yes, at some sites there are a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone, but I think Phin fans are so much more mature than Jet's fans and others, who will remain nameless. This site is great because everyone feels welcomed. Great job by the admins and mods!!!!

Great thread and post brother, I think we ALL feel the same way. Our admins & mods have created the best fan site on the internet here IMHO, but it is also the high quality of the posters, recognizing that while we all may have differing opinions on how to get there, we all share the common goal of seeing our beloved Dolphins win football games. So we are all brothers and sisters here, all sharing one cause, on the best place to do that anywhere. What a combo!

I agree. I think the mods here are stern, but they are also flexible and understanding. This is one of the best Fins sites on the net.

I think my post count speaks for itself.
Seriously though, I think Travis (Aqua) hit it on the head with his post. This websites great and there's none better. A great job done by the administrators and moderators.cnc66, Celtkin, PMZQ and 1 other person like this. -
However, I think we have to watch what we say when say that others opinions etc. are useless garbage. You mentioned the difference between this site and others. I think it's that prevailing thought that opinions matter, no matter what they are. I don't think it's the quality of the posts that Celtkin talks about, again this is just my own interpretation, it's the quality of the people and atmosphere. By far, the atmosphere here is completely different than any other forum I've been a part of. You like said, you actually feel like you have friends on a forum. And you can openly discuss and be honest like you would with your friends. It's really quite unbelievable.
All content should be considered substantial, because the person writing took the time to write here on these message boards (now, I'm not talking about the John Beck sucks1111!!!!!!11 type stuff). If that's what you're referring to than completely disregard this, haha.
You talk about when a person is introduced. How awesome is it that the Charter Members and guys actually started the site welcome you? I think that's awesome.Fin Fan In Cali, Boik14, cnc66 and 2 others like this. -
Side Note: Talking about considering opinions substantial, I have a very hard time doing that. Being Irish, I always want to be right and think I am right. It's tough and it's certainly something I need to work on. But hey, it was passed down from my wonderful father. He passed on a million great things to me, hopefully I picked some up, but I definitely got that trait...hahaha
I'm certainly working to try and get better at that.Fin Fan In Cali and cnc66 like this. -

To be honest, I haven't even visited "the other site" in at least 2 weeks, and haven't posted there for more than a month. Why do I need to ? The best information is already here at my computer monitor

I played little league at Coral Gables for one year, when I was in 3rd grade, and played TE and Center (no wonder our team didn't win any games that year LOL), and that is the only experience I have with playing except what we did in PE class in school.
However I love the game, and watch just about every game I can on the TV. Even if it doesn't involve one of my teams (Fins or Canes). I couldn't tell you what is a man coverage, or a cover 2 or anything like that. I just watch as a fan, and cheer for the team.
I can't remember ever once being put down, or made fun of, because my knowledge of the game is limited. As there are more than a few of the guys on this forum that played the game all the way through High School and a few that even played in college. None of them make me feel inferior or "stupid", even though my opinions could be total crap. I don't think Celt or CNC or Crunch would ever put up with that BS, and in turn it makes it friendly to put out my opinions (which again I know could be total crap).
Props for the admins for creating a place that I felt more than confortable paying for membership and donating extra money too, because I believed in them, from their reputation from "that other place".

This site is not about numbers. It is a about quality of the people who choose to be a member here.
To be honest, while I welcome new members who wants to be here and who want to contribute, it would not hurt my feelings one bit if we never grew any larger, if to do so meant that we had compromise that standard.
I like the way this forum 'feels' and I truly like all of the members here. -

I don't even go any where else. I used to go to the Herald's message board and the 'Other' site almost every day. The Herald has become a joke, and the 'other' site. Well...Why bother?

This site is great. It's the people that make the site. Celt and Muck have led by example, and that example has led the great people of this site to follow them here. It's our job as posters to sustain this community. It's important that new posters feel welcome, and are encouraged to express themselves. That's something that this site does not lack. Very friendly all around, yet professional and well moderated at the same time. A true gem of a site. It's a privilege to be here.

I hope Celt, Crunch, Mary, Marty, LUG and ALL the rest of you guys know how I feel.
I am a fan, not even close to being very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of trades, positions etc. But, like some of the others, I have never been made to feel like a dope about it. I get honest answers and usually quickly.
On here, we can ask about anything and get help, from music, cars, spiritual help and brag about stuff at the same time.(like grand children)
It is family and I love it. Some one on here asked how I could care so much about some one I've never met. Well, it's easy, I feel close to them, we have a lot in common and you can't pretend to be nice and caring all the time, the truth some how will come out. And there's no way this person could be anything but nice!
What I'm trying to say and messing it all up, is that I have good friends on here and I don't just quit thinking about them when I log off.
So--here's to Mal, Crunch and the gang--Great Work--and thank you all. -
Like travis already said a significant number of members migrated to Celtkin.com with the good folks runnin' the joint. In doing this we've all had a hand in developing thephins.com. Therefore we all should feel enough of a sense of ownership to do our part in maintaining the quality atmosphere that we all currently enjoy here.
So regardless of how big this site may get, there's no reason for it to go downhill.
