Prayer Request for my son
31 replies
Dolfans,
This past week we noticed some lumps on the throat on my 18 year old son. We took him in of course and they gave him a looking over and ran some blood and other tests. We find out the results Thursday night or Friday morning. They have cautioned us that his symptoms are consistent with Leukemia, so obviously we are more than concerned. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that this is just something minor and that regardless of his condition that I can be a comfort to him and my family as we get this figured out.

Brother Mike,
You are a long-time friend and you're as much a member of my family as any of my real family. You have my prayers for a benign diagnosis and/or a rapid recovery for your son.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for giving us an opportunity to support you.

I don't usually do this in this "out loud" and I'm sure Pastor Keith can do it more eloquently but here goes:
Father we thank you for the gift of Mike and his family. We ask that you bless them and give them comfort. We ask that you give the doctors knowledge and wisdom to treat Mike's son properly (whatever the result may be).
Finally, we pray for Mike's son, that you give him strength and your peace.
Bless them always.
Amen.
you have both my thoughts and prayers bro. Hope all is well with your son. And yes! keep us updated.
thanks to VO for the sick ass sigs.

I don't think anyone can pray more "eloquently" than someone else. Beautiful prayer, thank you.

Thank you for the compliment but this prayer is certainly eloquent enough and I am honored to simply add my "Amen, may it be thus so!" to it!

UPDATE:
First of all, thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers on Troy's condition. We were blessed to find out that Troy tested negative for Lukemia. He is going back in today for another round of tests, but they seem to think that a bad case of Mono may be the issue.
Thank you all again, it was wonderful having all of you show such strong support for my family. This incident with my son was the tip of an iceberg that we have been facing recently. We now have a variety of challenges that will come to a head this month. Our list includes:
1. My Wife has had 2 knee surgeries this past year and is still about 6-8 months away from being back up and running. We've lost 4k per month in income as she is unable to teach her 1st graders with the injury.
2. The loss of her income plus a house payment hike has put us in a siutation where we have been negotiating on getting a loan modification on our mortgage, but so far the company will not budge and may eventually lead to us losing our home (seems like everyone is nowadays)
3. My Mother is going to have open heart surgery this month.
4. My wifes mother had a stroke in July, caused by a hole in her heart. She is also going to have open heart surgery in the next few months.
5. And I don't think my Dog really likes me and is only using me for the free food and housing.
Thaks again for all your support and keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we face some of these less serious challenges.

Wow. That's a lot going on Mike. I wish your family the best and please keep us updated, that is if you wish. At the moment though, I'm very happy to hear about your son's tests being negative. That is great news.

I know it will sound odd to hear it, but the scare with the potential seriousness of Lukemia makes the possiblility of losing a house, or of the other surgery issues all seem like much less of a problem. I'm thankful for my family and for the fact that my son's are a complete joy to raise and my wife and I have the best relationship I've ever known...going on 29 years this year!
