Supposedly it's real and it's a duplicate of some piece of hardware stolen from Sony. There's videos of it in motion. The guys who have it now are trying to sell it for $150 per unit. I'm such a sucker for stuff like this I'd probably buy it (it's just over the cost of 2 games, not too bad really). For the patient types, there will be clones of it within a month of it's release for under $50 I'm betting. It's been all the talk in IRC all weekend.

I'm going to hold off. Apparently the "x3 Jailbreak" is going to drop in the next week for like $40-$60 a pop.

I've already disabled the internet on my system. I don't want Sony ruining my fun by forcing an update on me.

I can live without PSN...especially for free games and emulators. I can't wait to play Super Mario World up-converted to 1080p.

I actually emailed those guys asking what it'll cost and this is the response I got:

I may have to look into this. Hopefully online play isn't affected.

well... Really to run unsigned code. Which allows open development on the PS3. This can me used to exploit it to play downloaded games to emulators to linux to media centers.

 

Okay I got that......now my question is where do you get the games from if the only downloaded games/content are from PSN, and you guys said the PSN cant be used if you jailbreak this sum bi*ch??

For anyone wondering... It definitely works.

 

so any legit game disc you put in there, you can copy to the HDD and play it anytime without the correct disc, as long as you have any legit disc in the drive?

is this all easier and more rewarding then just finding some way to download them and play them on a PC?

 

There's a new app called Open Manager that allows full skinning and no need for a game in the drive. They're making new stuff every day literally. This scene wil be bigger than the 360 scene in about 2 months lol. It'll even auto split this huge 4GB compressed files that are causing problems on FAT drives and dump fluff files Sony likes to add to 1st party games to make Blu Ray seem necessary.
