Enough with the gimmicks. Enough with the experiments. Here we are trying to save our season, we have a solid drive going with Henne passing, and we take him out to put White in. What happens? A total failure and almost a deadly turnover. Enough already. Enough trying to have the RB throw the ball. Enough subbing out the hot hand. Enough with the BS play calling. ENOUGH!
Henne is the QB...let him play like it!

Let's just fire Dan Henning and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Better idea.......lets not waste the #44 pick in the draft just yet and start focusing on making him a WR.
I absolutely don't want us grooming this kid at QB but he is a gamer and if you get him the ball in the open field he makes things happen. We're in desperate need of more play makers for Henne, what is there to lose?
IMO the Fins have wasted this kid all year, grooming him as Henne's back up and running that "Pistol" formation, that seems to make most fans cringe when they see it coming. The only way you take him at that spot in the draft is in a multi purpose role. As a play maker....So far they've headed down a much different path with him than I had expected.
And I don't just want to experiment with him at WR as a last resort to salvage something of the pick, I honestly believe Pat White would make the transition and give us another weapon. That in this league, that's the position where he will have the most success. And I also believe it's DEFINITELY in Pat White's best interest as well. If he refuses to make the switch, then I would be looking to move him in the off season.Coral Reefer, Clipse, keypusher and 1 other person like this. -

Its not Pat White that is the problem, but the times they call his number.
They always seem to bring him in during a long drive and it just kills us.2k5 likes this. -

sign me up. Pat White has been a waste of a down more times than not this year. keep Henne in there. Hes our future. Not White. another wasted 2nd rd. pick

Who's going to respect him wwhen he hasn't completed a pass all season?
And that's not totally on him. He's 0 for 1 for the season. They've let Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown throw more than Pat White.NJFINSFAN1 likes this. -

I have no problem with Pat White. My problem is how we use him. At this point, the defense has absolutely no reason to believe Pat White is going to throw when he goes in.
Every play we call is going to fail for that reason. Every time we put White in I'm waiting for us to shock the defense and throw it. Until that happens, you're going to see the defense fly in and crash the run cause...why wouldn't they?
How many times did we pass with Ronnie and yet we haven't with White...dolfan32323 and 2k5 like this. -

It doesn't matter what YOU worry about. What matters is what the opposing coaches worry about. I'd place every dollar I have on the fact that Bill Bellichek does not want to stand in front of podium (again) after facing this coaching staff saying -
"We were outcoached." -
I'll be totally honest, as a fan, Pat White scares the ever living hell out of me, and I cringe when I see him and it looks like he might throw the ball.
That being said, he's a first year rookie playing in a package specifically designed for him. Give him time to develop, give the package time to develop. He's not god awful out there, but I do think that throwing him into the fray, and having the play go sour really messes things up. But I do think he could eventually be a good player -
They grasped at straws drafting White I think.Rumor has it,at the time, the Pats were going to get him so the Fins pulled the trigger.
Was it a good move? I never thought so.To many other critical needs at the time. It is what it is.He needs to bulk up and start playing ST return man next year.jetssuck likes this. -
I for one am not blaming the kid, I understand how hard a position it is to learn at this level. The heat however has to fall on the coaching and in no way should they be exonerated simply becase we won the game.54Fins likes this. -

No My point is rather, I don't know why they play him at all. This entire season he has only thrown the ball 3 times and completed it zero times. He looks confused and fragile while he is out there. And I am sure I am not the only one that says WTF every time they put him in the game. -
-
Hey bro it may just be my opinion, but it is my opinion. I would rather see Henne with the ball in his hands than White. -
I disagree 100%.
He doesn't make enough plays to warrant playing time over Henne. Especially since now were in the hunt for the division. Put the Pat White experiment on hold because the WC is useless without Brown.LandShark13 and jetssuck like this. -
he hasn't looked great, but he's also a rookie, and a qb at that being put in in what aren't exactly easy situations. Attempting to throw the d off with these plays is not a stupid idea in these situations. if over used sure it can be, but so far I don't think its any of the above. Not to mention our o lines blocking hasn't exactly been stellar in these situations. too many factors to put it all on pat white imo. -
As for the highlighted portion of your quote you only make my point for me. -
He is averaging 4.2 YPC. It's not like he's been absolutely horrible. We also scored on the option to Ricky against the Pats last time. Combined with the extra prep time that it requires, it's beneficial to our team. However, we do seem to use it at the worst times, and I feel like Pat White would be more successful out more of a spread than the pistol packages that we have been going to. That will come in time though, he's still a rookie quarterback.
-
I also have a problem with Pat White as Henne's back up. Personally I'd feel more comfortable with Thigpen coming in, if needed. I have a feeling many of you might share that opinion as well.
The best thing Pat White could do is start asking Henne to stay after practice and play catch with him. And the staff would be smart to give him a hint to do so...keypusher and BuckeyeKing like this.
