The Rams want to get younger and cheaper on the offensive line, and two veterans have lost their jobs as a result.
St. Louis is releasing both left tackle Jake Long and center Scott Wells.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher hinted that it’s possible that they could come back, although surely at a reduced salary.
“Jake and Scott brought experience and professionalism to our program and we appreciate that commitment and hard work,” coach Jeff Fisher said. “Both of them overcame injury difficulties and provided leadership for our younger players. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of them.”
Wells was due a $1 million roster bonus on Thursday, and Long would have received $4 million guaranteed if he had been on the roster on Saturday, so the Rams had to act fast to save money on the two aging veterans. The total savings to the Rams’ salary cap this year will be $12.5 million.

I don't see Long offering anything after having two major injuries after leaving the Dolphins. He was already on the decline while with the Dolphins and injuries have only made him more of a liability with whatever team he signs with. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if he just doesn't decide to call it a career.
It was reported earlier that the Texans have cut Johnson. Now that is a veteran player I would love to see the Dolphins sign. He could be that big WR the Dolphins need when they get inside the red zone and he probably has a few good years left since he takes great care of his body. He would also add valuable veteran leadership to a team badly in need of a leader like Johnson. -
F that guy.

Highly doubtful he comes back to this team while Philbin is still the HC. Remember Philbin had no idea that OL meetings were being held at strip clubs .I am sure Jakes wife was not thrilled about that and was anxious to get out of here .She likes living in the midwest. My guess he is re-signed by Rams .

So, we complain about injuries and we want one of the most oft-injured players in the whole NFL to sign with us? What's next Jake Locker?
