* Before you start naming players not on the list look to see their status. If they are Junior's than i probably have them not declaring. I have LeSean mcCoy, Jeff owens, and Colt McCoy returning to school. I am sure I missed some. I know Boomer will have fun with this but one thing that is for sure is that we will find our 3-4 outside linebacker in this draft b/c it is loaded with those types. Very good Corner class and Offensive Tackle class as well. Quarterback and Running Back classes are the worst I have seen in a long time. What a great year to have an extra 2nd Rounder b/c some VERY good players are going to fall

30 players better than Malcolm Jenkins? It is not possible. Without question the best corner in this draft class wich is very solid. I hope you are right and he falls to us in Round 2 but not likely. Jenkins will go #5 to the Browns.
Football knowledge is important here and with the NFL Receivers getting better and better, Premier cornerback's are becoming a must have. We don't have one and that is why passing teams like the Cardinals and Patriots owned us this past season.
I urge you to take the time to name 30 Prospects better than Malcolm Jenkins or 30 NFl Corners better than him. -
It perfectly is. Jenkins can't tackle. It's as easy as that. I know that he'll get drafted early (though certainly not by Cleveland) but a cornerback who can't tackle isn't a top 15 or even top 30 talent in any draft. Unless he can dramatically improve his tackling (which is certainly possible although not very likely) he's a #2 because opponents will run all over him as a #1 CB.Boomer likes this. -
I'll take Sean Smith over Malcolm Jenkins any day of the week after watching him last night. Ven is right, RealDriscoll. Also, I have to ask you this but how is Jenkins all of a sudden your best corner in the draft class when you keep on saying Vontae Davis is the next Nnamdi Asomugha and didn't you say he was the top CB only a few days ago?

I could name 100 NFL corners better than Malcolm Jenkins because last time I looked, he'd never played a down in the NFL and 100 other corners have.
Jenkins also isn't the best corner in the draft. And he doesn't strike me as anything close to being a premier CB. -
Overall not a bad list and thanks for putting it together by the way. For me though the following make me scratch my head.
11. Aaron Maybin-Defensive End-Penn State
A one dimensional pass rusher listed too high for my tastes. Agree with the others that Jenkins is listed too high as well. -
A magical leap for Jarius Byrd? If you watch college football and don't know who he is than you are crazy.
I am very high on Vontae Davis and if I could have the Dolphins select him at #26 I'd be all for it. I think he is going to be a special player and have never went against that.
Not much tape to know that Herzlich is a phenomenal football . I go to Maryland football practices twice a week and am a season ticket holder so I have a good chance to follow many ACC teams and Herzlich is very impressive.
I disagree with Boomer's philosophy than just because a player has played an NFL down than he is better than any college prospect. You can tell me with a straight face that Joey Thomas is better than Malcolm Jenkins? Jake Long is his rookie year is far better than Vernon Carey was at Left Tackle.
Sean Smith is solid but better than Jenkins?
Gerald McCoy is the best DT not named Terrence Cody in the nation. why would I have to watch film to know that. -
with that all said Jarius Byrd is inferior to Jenkins, Davis, Smith, and Alphonso Smith. I'd even go Kevin Barnes over Byrd.
-
I made this list going off of 5 Draft Site's that I really like and tallying where they had people , averaging it out and sticking them that in that order. This is more of compiling other people's thoughts rathern than my own.
If there were a tie or someone was left off for that matter than I added them where I felt they should be. -
First of all his name is Jairus Byrd.
There is more chance of Miami picking Bette Davis than Vontae Davis.
Yes - Joey Thomas is a better NFL player than Malcolm Jenkins. Malcolm Jenkins hasn't played in the NFL. If you'd have said that Tony Mandarich was a better player than Steve Wallace before Mandarich had played, you'd have looked equally as stupid.
Smith is better than Jenkins.
You would have to watch film to evaluate Gerald McCoy, otherwise how do you get an opinion of a player?Vendigo likes this. -
Speaking of Maryland players the ones worth watching are Darrius Heyward Bay, Kevin Barnes, Dan Gronkowski, Edwin Williams, Jeremy Navarre, and Terrell Skinner.
Heyward-Bay will get most of the credit and I grade him as a late 1st/ Early 2nd Round pick but Kevin Barnes is the class of the draft for the Terps. I think Barnes will fall into Round 3 due to his injury and inactivity down the stretch. the Dolphins would be foolish to not take him in Round 3 if he were there when we select.
Edwin Williams is my draft sleeper. Besides Alex Mack, Max Unger, Antoine Caldwell, and possibly Jonathan Luigs I feel Williams will bea good pro. Lifting weights with the guy is impressive and he is an intense guy. Dane Rudoplh and Scott Burley are guys worth watching in Round 6-7.
Gronkowski isn;t going to be a huge pass receiver but is a solid blocking tight end
Navarre will put more effort in than anyone I have ever met.
Skinner is a converted Wide Receiver but has good play-making skills. -
It seems like a lot of guys get talked up in Club and in here and then all of a sudden they're on a list. Jairus Byrd gets talked about for the first time on The Phins website yesterday and all of sudden, he's on a top 100 for the first time and the response is that if you know college ball, then you know Jairus Byrd....if that's the case, why is today his first inclusion on a top 100 list?
Just doesn't quite tie up. -
Don't think it would be considered plaguerism my man. Despite compiling information it would be considered my information. I had a few request from people asking me to post something like this so I took the time to make this for the less informed reader; not to nit-pick whether Aaron Curry or Malcolm Jenkins really are Top 5 players. I think all of opinions really don't matter when it comes to this because none of us have an influence on who Jeff Ireland wants.
I still do not care if they have not played an NFL snap. Brandon Pettigrew could come in and be better than Joey Haynos right now. Joey Haynos is a good friend of mine and he would tell you that himself. Pettigrew has never played an NFL down. -
Boomer's Statement.. "It seems like a lot of guys get talked up in Club and in here and then all of a sudden they're on a list. Jairus Byrd gets talked about for the first time on The Phins website yesterday and all of sudden, he's on a top 100 for the first time and the response is that if you know college ball, then you know Jairus Byrd....if that's the case, why is today his first inclusion on a top 100 list?

Like I said in a previous post if players weren't on the list and were players discussed on the board I added them where I saw fit. Some people on the list were not ranked by sites, maybe because their our Red-Shirt Sophs, so I threw them in their where I saw fit.
this not a master list that a GM of a NFL team should use, just a compiled list of roughly the Top 100 players in this April's draft -
Wouldn't surpise me with the franchises draft history. But in 2 years Vontae Davis would be our best corner; even over Will Allen
-
He excels better in zone but posses ability to play in coverage. he will run the forty in roughly a 4.4 which shows he has the speed to translate into the pro-game. Sometimes he bites a bit much which is a severe weakness but coachable. He is a product of Dunbar High School in Washington D.C. so I had a chance to watch a few high schools games and I followed him closely b/c he was choosing between Maryland and Illinois. My favorite thing about him is that he is not afraid of contact. He comes up to hit; his coverage skills will get better with tenure.
-
I love how if someone disagrees with Boomer he acts like they are wrong. You're right Boomer you are the only one who knows anything about football. Is that what you want to hear? I don't have to log onto a draft site to tell you about players I like. Vontae Davis would be an upgrade to our pathetic defensive secondary and you know it.

Ted Ginn Jr. was not a Miami player either but we picked him.

Well this little convo is interesting. I guess I wont ask the question why is somebody who already promised his coach he was coming back to school number 1? :)
-
Well like I said the GM's do the draft so I can say that Tim Tebow is better than Dan Marino and that is what these boards are for. I think it is unreal how some people think they are the only one's whose opinions matter so they take 20 post on a thread critic the thread.

Bigtyme13,
Cody has been wavering on his decision and at seasons' end I think he will enter the draft. He will be a guranteed Top 10 pick and the money will be hard to shy away from. Depending on what coaches are hired he has a chance to be a Top 5 pick. If a coach is hired who prefers a 3-4 to a 4-3 than the value of Cody goes sky hight. If the Dolphins could somehow land Cody we'd all be very happy -
1) We'e not disagreeing, I just have a hard time believing what you write.
2) There's a lot more knowledgeable people here than me.
3) The players you like are players who other people have either brought up and you've dissed or players that other people have simply brought up and you've jumped on the bandwagon about. Jairus Byrd is the perfect example.
4) Our "pathetic" secondary? Heard it all now. Vontae Davis isn't going to be a Dolphin. Take that to the bank.
