It was the correct call and its not really how the Chiefs won

 

Not really inserting yourself in the game by game calling a hold that was a hold. That is the refs doing their job.

 

Are you serious even the player admitted he was holding. You do realize that human error is part of the game?
Congrats to the Chiefs who won this game.

 

It's an easy one to play Devil's advocate on. On one hand - by the strict technical rules on what is and isn't holding, it's probably holding.

On the other, the infraction was minor, and the ball was uncatchable.

On one hand you can make an argument refs should have let them play in that situation.

On another hand, they get almost as much grief for not making calls in those situations.

Bottom line - If you're an Eagles fan today, you have a right to not feel great about the way that game ended.

 

They didn't call much of anything for the entire game and then throw the flag on what may have been the weakest hold ever on an uncatchable pass. There were plenty of uncalled PIs and facemasks earlier in the game, so why now? My issue is the lack of consistency (as usual) in rules enforcement. I dont care if they call a tight game or a loose game, just be consistent and don't change the enforcement because its late in the game.

 

Calls getting missed early in a game should not mean they should choose to miss more calls either.

I think people saying they want consistency are actually saying just don't call anything late unless its really bad which means they don't really consistency.

 

It was a weak call in my opinion for the following reasons…

The contact happened AT the line of scrimmage…
Mahomes was still in his drop back and not set in the pocket to throw…
The grasp was so minor and instantly released him.

Now had the receiver been beyond the 5 yard mark from the LoS…had Mahomes been set to throw and going through his progressions…had the grasp been continuous and impeded the receiver from running his route, throw flags all day long. That would have been defensive holding, but what was called last night? :pity:

Wrong. I said what I said. If they're not gonna call anything early, THEN DON'T CALL IT LATE. If they're gonna call everything early, then stay the course and keep calling everything. For example, if they're allow the receivers and DBs to hand fight for most of the game, then don't turn around and start calling PI for hand fighting at the end of the game, or at the most call PI on both players, offsetting penalties, and re-run the play.

So yes, real, authentic consistency.

Agreed, what a week *** call, the ball from Mahomes was high too. The NFL better get those refs right, it's getting worse and worse...

It was a bad call during that moment. They should have let them play through it. It was also the final determining factor in how and why KC won that game. Now obviously Philly's defense gave no effort what so ever to re-adjust to what Mahomes was doing to them and that it ultimately why they lost, but that call at the end was made at the wrong time if that makes sense. yes...It's a penalty if you want to get specific, but it wasn't a blatant one and I think only blatant, totally obvious penalties should be called when the game gets tight like it got last night. I mean, it was only the biggest game of the season. Still...The Eagles CB (Bradberry I believe) should not have even given them a reason to make that call. Sucks how that game ended. I was pulling for the Eagles as PA (Allentown) is my original birthplace.

 

It went from a close game, with a possible epic ending, to a run the clock out and kick the FG with that flag being thrown. Totally ruined the entertainment value for me, even if I didn't care that much which team won.

If you want conspiracy though? Brady retiring means it was time to build the hype even more on one of the young QBs. Mahomes with TWO rings (and counting) makes the NFL that much more interesting, right?

I don't want to watch NFL Football with the idea that the defense knows it can commit any holding penalty it wants because they know the refs will let them do it because fans will be upset.

 

Can't agree on that being the main reason they lost. I would say the reason they lost was because their defense let them down with a 1o point lead at the half.

Without the hold the WR is open right away and will likely score a TD.

 

I was going to say the same thing but I was getting tired of the argument.

 

I'm not thrilled about it because the Chiefs got major calls in the 4th quarter, on the final drive two weeks in a row.

Three weeks back, that hit out of bounds came on a play where a DE had Mahommes sacked for about an 8 yard loss...only he was caught in an arm bar from behind. Just re-watch that entire play; the guy was 3 steps from Mahommes from hash to hash while the OT was dragging him from behind in basically a wrist lock....right in front of the ref....for a full three seconds. And I saw it in real time as well; it's not like I went back looking for something.

No clue how you completely miss that, but it had to be the most obvious hold of the entire season. Yet in the super bowl, one little tug on an uncatchable ball and the flags are flying. And both flags/non-flags sealed the game for KC.

For me, that ruined the entire playoffs. Not because KC won, but because the game was taken out of the hands of the teams playing.

 

Once the hold takes place, the entire timing of the play is thrown off

 

Oh come on! The hold was so benign and he instantly let go…the timing of the throw being off was due to him being jammed, not held at the line of scrimmage.

Bradberry has the RIGHT to engage the receiver within the first 5 yards in the line of scrimmage. It’s right there in the rule book.

It was a terrible call and it gifted the Chiefs the Super Bowl. It wasn’t Philadelphia’s nor Hurts turn yet. I’m sorry, but I’m seeing the league treating Mahomes now the way they used to treat Brady.

 

If you want to gift them a SB you probably don't let it get to that point and you probably make more key calls throughout.

And when the NFL goes to full rigging they will do for Dallas.
