I think Clay's resurgence has an awful lot to do with Tannehill's development and the offense having some other viable targets.

 

Was there a lot of hate on Clay? I don't remember that much vitriol. He slumped for sure, but the hate wasn't on the level, say, Daniel Thomas gets lol

 

I was very down on Clay. Glad to be wrong.

 

There was a lot of hate going towards clay. Another reason to fire Jeff Ireland.

 

I think it was less hate and more people believing we needed an upgrade.

 

No. Clay's resurgence has an awful lot to do with Clay having a lot of heart and currently being our most consistent offensive player besides Tannehill. He has simply been awesome this year. Especially the second half of the season.

 

We need no upgrade at our receiver positions. I haven't been able to say that in a long time.

 

Needs a complement, but at this point the addition would be supplementary to Clay as opposed to the other way around due to his awesome play this year.

 

Clay's problem was he was unbelievable inconsistent. One second he looks like a really good receiving TE and then he would just flounder. His biggets improvement has been his consistency this season.

 

Clay's definitely turned a corner. With Keller's injury he's really stepped up to the plate this season.

Well, Clay was one of plethera of guys that had to "take the next step" this season, and he certainly has. Unfortunately, so were JJ, Martin, Miller, Egnew, Thomas, as well as the meshing of Wallace and Gibson with Tanny, Wheeler and Ellerbe, all guys that have underperformed to date...

But I was one of those that was not sure he'd come around. Losing Keller was a real blow to this team, it still is, but Clay has made it easier....

 

I can't remember if I liked him or not then, but I love him now.

Imagine if we get Keller back, we'll have Clay and Keller, maybe Egnew continues to progress too. We could be beastly at TE

 

It's a common theme with some idiots around here. Anyone who doesn't produce in year one sucks and is grounds for GM firing. Then when a player coincidentally does happen to end up a disappointment following a poor rookie year they think they're geniuses. It's embarrassing is what it is.

 

Just so I'm covering all the bases:

Dion Jordan is going to bust.
Dion Jordan will be a stud.
Dion Jordan will be a middle of the road role player.

ill mention it again just so I can have some fun in this thread, I liked him coming out of the draft at tulsa, then I flatlined on him, I think it was because I was desperately trying to find an elite talent for a few years at that position and got shafted on a few so I held him to an unfair standard, i do believe that because he's had to learn 4 different positions it slowed his play speed down, but now,I mean he's doing some superhuman sh^^ that is probowl level...and he's so good in the clutch, im so stoked he ours and hes only 25.

a freakin 6th round pick...that's a hell of a scouting job..

I never had an opinion about Clay because he was not used alot. He is taking advantage of the situation and will probably win the job next season. I was excited when we got Keller, Im curious to see what happens next season between the two of them

 

I'm not as WON over as everyone else is with Clay. I like him as a versatile players, he lines up in so many different slots, WR, H-Back, FB, TE but I would also like a straight nasty 6'5 250lb TE like Gronk or a Tony Gonzalez, still would prefer that but yes CLAY has a place on this team.

I was never a hater on Clay. He was inconsistent but made big plays for us. He still scares me. I love his big play potential, but unless the ball is in the bread basket on a critical third down, I don't know that I trust him. I love the thought of him and Keller lined up together. Mismatch hell for teams. He still has the potential for bad drops and bad games, but the trend has been for the big time play. I am a fan.

 

For the cap cost, you cannot help but love Clay right now.

 

Oh hell yeah. I've sent him pictures of myself, naked, slathered in red currant jelly, holding downed infant penguins under each arm and wearing fake unicorn wings.So I guess I'm not completely naked.

 

I'd trade a first round pick and half this board for Josh Gordon though.

 

It's about cost relative to production..that's what's exciting.

 

Honest question… today, do you take Clay or Gronk considering injury histories and salaries, and knowing you'd have them under contract for three years.

I am very tempted to take Gronk, who is HoF talent… except you are paying the guy at HoF talent level and he is always injured. Like 70% of the time.

 

take a look at NE's offensive numbers with and without him this year. While he was out the Pats were something like 15th or worse in like 6 significant offensive categories. With Gronk they were like top 6 in everything with numerous #1 rankings.

Sadly to say, if Clay were given as much attention as Gronk receives, his stats would be much inhibited. I still love Clay though.
