Here is some thoughts on the draft prospect from Texas A & M.

How a QB with limited playing experience who had a 29/15 TD/Int ratio, was a projected 2nd round pick at the end of the season and hasn't been able to show off his skills b/c of a broken foot has become possibly the #8 pick in the draft is beyond me. Good athlete "yes" but a huge reach as a top 10 pick.
Only 4 of his 13 games last year he didn't throw an interception and had three 3 interception games. Through multiple picks in 25% of games started and 3 picks in 20% of games started. -
Just like Matt Flynn, we have the #1 guy in Mike Sherman with insider info on Tannehill. We have to give the benefit of the doubt that if Sherman see's Tannehill as the future he will bang the table and Ireland will listen to him. If they pass on him we should assume Sherman was not that into Tannehill.

Tannehill's rise up the board is only a surprise to those who focus on stats rather than skills.

Big Decisions should never be made out of desperation, they should be made with cold, calm, reasoning,Aquafin likes this. -

I think he has alot of talent but needs to be developed slowly and not rushed on the field because of his limited experience.
If they draft him at 8 or lower I think will be to much pressure to play him and he will struggle. -
That reminds me a bit of the John Beck situation.Griese12 and DOLFANMIKE like this. -

So basically, before all the hype started, anyone who thought he was a top 10 talent was feeling that way b/c we overvalued him out of a desperate need to fill the QB position? That's kind of insulting tbh.sports24/7 likes this. -
20 starts, inaccurate at times, and fumbles the ball a lot, sounds like John Beck tbh. -

1. Stupid statement. Free information on the perceived state of your franchise to the rest of the league and..
2. An implicit statement that the guy you have is not a franchise qb.
Even if you are right and he has more potential I think the internal view is he was a backup qb who did what he was supposed to. Nothing more or less and that is all he will ever be.
I'm also betting Philbin wants his own trigger man. -
He doesn't "appear" to be desirable to me. He IS desirable to me. I said it before the hype started (just as others did including Raf) so stop insulting us.
Anyone who compares John Beck with Ryan Tannehill needs their head examined. just sayin. -
If they like Tannehill, I think they're going to have to grab him at 8 regardless of whether or not its a reach. But then again, if they really think he's a franchise guy, there's no such thing as a reach.

If Weedens the guy then that shouts that they don't believe in Moore and Weeden will start day 1. -
He's wrong a lot but still an entertaining read. j/kBulldog likes this. -
However, considering Moore was Ireland's hand selected guy, and looking at the type of QB Moore is, I'm inclined to think if we miss on Tannehil that Cousins might be the next on his list since he and Moore have a lot of similar intangibles--- athletic, mobile QBs, with great leadership, who don't have an elite arm but just find ways to win. I wouldn't be upset taking him if we miss Ryan. Call me crazy, but if anyone from this draft turns out like a Tom Brady (IE: passed over and then later blossoms into greatness), I think it's Cousins. -
When we trade down in the first and then draft Jonathan Martin imma have ta kill Ireland. -

When I would call it a reach is if you need that green QB to step in immediately and it's during a previous draft where his heavy cost is eating into your cap while you develop him. Fortunately neither apply to us, therefore it's not a reach IMHO. This is a perfect year for us to take a guy like Tannehill IMO. -

And considering we signed Garrard to only 1 season and didn't heavily pursue Flynn or Alex Smith, I'm thinking we do believe in Moore b/c I doubt we'd willingly put all our eggs in the draft basket (or Garrard for that matter). -

To clarify, I just meant that Moore was Ireland's doing (an acquisition that few fans, including myself, believed would've turned out as good as it did), so even if Moore might not have been Ireland's first choice, he was still a guy Jeff liked or else he wouldn't be here. Something about Moore had to catch Ireland's eye to think he would be a worthy backup. If we look at the type of offense Ireland seemed to have in mind when hiring Daboll and subsequently the type of backup QB he brought in for that offense, I just see Kirk Cousins as being someone Jeff might find very appealing (beside Tannehill of course). -
If he makes it to the Dolphins (they wont trade up), what are the odds they pass up on him?
-
If we drafted Weeden early there are lots here who would e doing cartwheels while Joe Dolphinfan would be going wtf who is this old guy? -
If we want RT bad enough to use a 1st rounder, I firmly believe we would've made sure to sign Winston or someone else allowing us to free up our 1st, especially since that 1st is a top 10. Hopefully a team doesn't get many of those, so when you do IMO they should be used on impact players at core positions that you typically don't have a chance to acquire without dropping a $40.0M+ FA contract on them. IMO any GM who uses a top 10 on a RT should be fired on the spot unless it's the only pick you can make and he looks like a HOFer.
