What are the chances that the Phins take a shot at this guy? Surely he will almost have the sam effect as Cam Newton has at the Panthers? Think its a no brainer.

SURELY HE WILL BE A GOOD AS CAM NEWTON?
Really? -
It's a nice thought, but it isn't going to happen. RGIII will be long gone by the time our pick rolls around, and without a second rounder this year, we lack the ammo to go up and get him.
-
Why do you think we traded our 2nd rounder???? -
Would be nice, but I think Washington takes him right before Miami.

RG3 is the QB I would most like to see the Dolphins get in the draft. In fact I would pick him over Andrew Luck. Unfortunately, I just don't see the Dolphins being able to make a deal to trade up and get RG3. I think that the Redskins, Browns, possibly the Jaguars all might opt to take RG3 if he is available when their turn comes to select in the first round. I also think that the Browns and Redskins will offer more then the Dolphins would to trade up to take RG3.
The only hope I see for the Dolphins getting RG3 is if the Redskins sign Flynn, the Browns decide to stick with McCoy, and the new regime in Jacksonville is satisfied with Gabbert as their QB of the future. -

I think RG3 to the Redskins is a mortal lock.
I'm trying to warm up to the idea of say Nick Foles in the 2nd round. -
Still trying to find out WHEN they will disclose what the conditional pick for Bush is however.
So, definitely have our 2nd this year for now. -
lol typical Cam Newton reference.

Let me preface this by
Openly stating that I am, in
No way, shape or form,
Comparing the skills, measurables
Or play styles of Robert Griffin III
To those of Cam Newton.
I feel that the situation
We face with Robert Griffin III is
Very similar to that which we
Faced with Cam Newton
During last year's draft.
They are both very good,
Electrifying players that
Performed well in college, and
Should continue their success
At the next level.
They also both appear to be
Amongst the most popular
Players in their classes, which
Would be another selling point
For our starstruck owner.
The problem, like last year, is that
We do not currently possess the
Draft position required to select
Who is sure to be one of the most
Coveted players, come this April.
With that said, at this time,
It would appear as if we would
Need to trade most, or all, of our
Draft in order to acquire him.
With equally, and arguably,
Paramount team needs, such as
The offensive line, I do not feel
That it makes football sense to
Make such an exchange.
However, if Robert Griffin were to
Fall in the draft, or the trade demands
For a necessary selection were to fall to
An acceptable price, I feel that it
Would be an investment worth making.dolfan32323 likes this. -

I doubt that we will even have the option of selecting RB3. He is probably the #2 QB in the draft and there are at least 4 teams ahead or behind us that need a QB, badly....unless we can maneuver a trade up....
I discount a trade up because of the new CBA. It's made the contract of rookies easier and cheaper to fathom for teams, so teams will spend more in compensation in order to trade up (whereas before, the costliness of the contracts for higher round guys made it easier to trade up and down because someone would have been looking to NOT have to pay the huge contract to a player that may or may not be the 'answer'... -

as nice as it would be it's not going to happen.....i'm guessing they make a run at flynn and draft weeden/tannehill/foles
-
If I were ireland I'd b ready to give up my whole draft this year and next to get a new QB lol. But thats why I'm not Ireland... but in all seriousness I really believe that a move should be made for RG3, move up + x2 2nd rnd's (2012,2013) or something else nuts. We really need this, no vet out there is going to give us more than 2 years. Then it would be right back on the grindstone.

Both options remove the stench of 2nd round pick on QB..... -

I like Weeden alot there's no way he gets to the fourth round. If he was 23 he'd be a top ten pick.

I think Blackmon would make any average QB seem like a great college QB. In the game last night, Blackmon was so open on most of the balls thrown to him, it was almost ridiculous. Receivers in the NFL seldom are wide open on a consistent basis. The big question concerning Weeden, other than his age, is whether or not he can complete passes to receivers when they are covered closely by NFL defensive backs. I just don't think Weeden is going to be productive at the NFL level and I hope the Dolphins do not select him.
I certainly understand that some individuals like Weeden a lot and want the Dolphins to draft him. We merely have a difference of opinion regarding the future of Weeden in the NFL. I guess we can all look back in a few years and see who was right and who was wrong in regards to Weeden's career in the NFL. -
Not likely at all. The Rams sit in a very nice spot because 3-4 teams below them want to trade up and get RGIII. To do so they have to get past the Vikings at 3, who even after drafting Ponder would be hard pressed to pass on RGIII. So that leaves St. Louis at 2 as the trading partner for whoever wants to draft RGIII.
The way I see it, only Cleveland (thanks to the deal with Atlanta) has the wiggle room to get St. Louis what they will need in return for a trade to happen. Washington is #2 in that scenario. I don't see St. Louis wanting to drop any lower than that (since they would probably have their eyes set on Blackmon at WR). Being at 8 or 9 is a horrible spot for Miami to trade up right now because St. Louis will not get what they need in return to make the deal happen. -
I know a lot of individuals on this forum probably think this would be far too much to give up for RG3. As for me, I would do it in a nano second. -
I happen to like RG3 a little more than I like Luck, but I would give up those picks, plus Long, and Davis, for either of them. -
I'm in agreement here. The question marks surrounding this guy incredibly outweigh the positives and I think that's why the experts have him slotted somewhere between the late 2nd and 5th round.
-Spread offense
-Has issues with ball placement too often
-Is throwing to the next Calvin Johnson (having that talent at WR certainly makes your life easier as a QB)
-Wear and tear on that arm from throwing a baseball is whole life
-AND THE BIG ONE - 29 yrs old during the season next year
That last one gives him virtually no developement potential and sets him up for a run of about 5-8 yrs of a productive playable career (on average). This is a guy that is a perfect fit for an elite team with an elite QB who wants a guy they think can be a stop gap as a back-up in case of injury to the starter. He is destined for that career unless some team is stupid enough to think he can be a franchise QB. -
St. Louis will have to trade with ONLY Cleveland if they want Blackmon. This guy will not make it past the 4th pick, guaranteed. So in the end, if Cleveland does not want to move up to get RGIII, I can actually see him dropping to 5 or 6 with the Redskins or Dolphins trying to push up to get him. The problem with all of this is that Cleveland would be foolish NOT to move up and get him and both of their 1st's would definitely get it done (they would be moving up 2 picks). I think they may even be able to get St. Louis' 3rd back in that type of deal.
