I know free agency is still just heating up so its hard to read the tea leaves. We will try this once a week until the draft. I would like to see us draft Devante Parker. His size and athleticism is what we need. Even more so if we are to lose Clay which is looking very likely. So who do you want number 1?

Copper if available, if not Parker
We need help at WR and those 2 will give us what we need IMO -
Well, given that Lamar Miller is our feature back, we're looking for a complimentary piece there, not a 1st round pick. Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon would be awesome additions to this team but they don't appeal to me given the price of a first round pick. I'm not putting that into the RB position when we already have Miller and we all acknowledge Hickey's ability to bring in good UDFA RBs. I just don't see a RB in the 1st round under any circumstances and I'm fine with that. I was definitely arguing that this team needed a physical RB and a commitment to running in between the tackles but to me, that doesn't spell RB in the first round. It spells 1st round Guard more than it does 1st round RB but I don't think the Guard talent is there nor do I think anyone in the front office or the stands wants another 1st rounder on the O-line. :)
While everyone thinks we need WR so badly, I'll say this much...we still have our two leading WRs from last year as well as our two leading TEs from last year. Hartline and Gibson leave holes, yes, but those holes are not monstrous and certainly do no force us into picking WR in the first round (although we certainly could do it, I'm not saying we couldn't).
I think the WR class is deep but it is not lead by a sure-fire #1 guy, and even if it was, we aren't getting that guy. I don't see a Sammy Watkins or a Julio Jones, nor would we have the chance to grab him if he was there. Every WR that we'll have a shot at seems to have several questions. When you think about how many good WRs are in this draft and the success we had getting Jarvis Landry in the 2nd round last year, I don't see us getting excited about WR in the 1st round. I see us going after another 2nd round guy to plug Hartline's spot.
Guard doesn't seem worthwhile given that we're going to extend Pouncey. We already have 3 top-tier commodities on the O-line (Albert, Pouncey, James). We need to get those Guards outside of the 1st round in my opinion.
So, to my eyes, that puts us back on defense and leaves us looking to replace Finnegan. Getting a CB (Waynes) in the 1st round and complimenting him with WR, Guard and LB in the 2-4 rounds would be a solid draft class I think. -
IMO Parker is over-rated. I would take Strong over him (after White and Cooper, whom I expect will be gone). My preference would be to go offensive early. I like Strong and RB Melvin Gordon. I don't generally like taking RBs early, but I have a ridiculously high ceiling on him (I'm talking Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders high). If we went D I like Collins, S and Kendricks, LB. I'd prefer to look at CB in the 2nd or 3rd.

I think every single WR in this draft class is getting over-rated because of the lack of QB prospects this year. I think the attention is just turning to the next most exciting squad which is undoubtedly the WRs followed by the RBs. I'd be happy with just about any of them but I wouldn't give a thought to trading up.

Waynes/Cooper. Though both will probably be gone at our pick.

At #14 I would take the BPA among the CBs, MLBs, or WRs.

Factoring in Suh signing. As well as the rumblings regarding CB (Robinson); FS (Parker, Searcy).
Needs: CB/WR/FS/OG/ILB
I do believe it is hard for a rookie CB to grasp Coyle's system and by adding Suh I don't feel that we need to invest 1st rounder on a player who could be red shirted all year or break the bank in FA. I'd like to bring Robinson in due to his talent, age, and ability to play the Nickel.
FS: Landon Collins is only 1st round safety worth picking, but he is too similar to Jones and not the ball hawk/center fielder we need.
OG: La'el Collins is the only one that I think we be worthy at #14. still just don't think that's a recipe for success with other needs and WR being stacked with top prospects.
My short list:
1. WR in order (White, Cooper, Strong, Parker, DGB)
2. ILB (Kendricks)
3. Collins
4. Maxx Williams (depends on Clay situation, but if Clay walks Williams is a different type of player we've been missing)Fin4Ever likes this. -
There are a few scenarios where I would be happy with the outcome, in this order:
1) Trade up for Cooper or White.
2) Stay put and draft one of Trae Waynes or Eric Kendricks, whoever is there, and if both, go with Waynes.
3) Trade down a few spots and pick up Jaelen Strong or DeVante Parker.
In the extremely unlikely chance we can't trade up or down and neither of the above players are there, go with offensive line and call it a day. -
White
Cooper
Kendricks
Waynes
Collins
in that order -
-
why not trade down about 7 or 8 spots and accumulate more draft picks and draft all defense and then f/a for running back and tightend and maybe a wr?

Even with the pending Suh signing, I don't think Danny Shelton or the DT position should be off our board.
I am hoping for Parker, Cooper, Shelton, or Waynes to fall to No. 14. If not, then I am looking at 2nd tier guys like Collins, Goldman, or Gurley - and I expect all 3 of them to be there. Whatever happens we will have good options at #14. -
Either Trae or Waynes. Or Waynes.
Not Parker. -
-
I just don't see it in Waynes not enough to make me like him at #14. 182lbs doesn't do it for me. His footwork is impressive no doubt. You want to take a CB in the first and I like Peters a whole lot more. Either way I'm tentative at CB due to fact we have struggled drafting early with them, and Coyle's concepts for DB's is a lot for rookie to jump in and grasp.
Love Kendricks and with a player like Suh in front of him..... Wow, that results could be electric. Only complain I'd have with Kendricks being picked is if a player like Cooper or White slipped and were there at #14. Those two guys are too good to pass up at that point. The others I can see them favoring Kendricks > Parker/Strong. -
My first choice is Waynes but it isn't likely he will be there when the Dophins pick at 14.
I would rather they keep Wallace and fill one of their needs at LB, or offensive line if Waynes is not available.
I also wouldn't be mad if they took Gordon or Gurley with their first round pick. -
Cooper.
If Cooper is gone I want to see a trade back this year.
Trade back and get Strong or DGB. I really like both of them, and don't want to stand pat and draft Parker for value.
If they do trade back and Landon Collins or Trae Waynes are still there... than even better. I'm seeing more drafts where Collins slides. -
Tom Brady just won a SB with a cast of misfit WR's. And Gronk... Who's a HOF at this point, in all fairness. While I'd like Miami to draft a WR at some point, I don't feel like using a 1st round pick to do it. Follow the GB packer model and use 2nd or 3rd round picks.
1. Danny Shelton, DT: Kind of a pipe dream that he'll be around, but if he is, take him. Suh and Shelton for the next 5 years? Good night sweet prince, Brady. Should help our LB core as well, giving them two big monsters up front to protect them.
2. MLB, I don't know which one, but get ONE. Seriously... get one. Jenkins and possibly Jordan can play outside, but Misi isn't the answer. Long term or short term, given his injuries.
3. La'el Collins, G/T: Brandon Albert's injury derailed our season mid way through. The team was never the same after. Miami MUST protect Tannehill. For two years in a row, Tannehill has gotten his *** beaten. Enough is enough. Albert, Collins, Pouncey, Turner, and James. That looks official...
4. Best CB available: Grimes is getting older and Jamar Taylor is another Jeff Ireland 2nd round special. You know what that means...
5. Pass Rusher: With Suh and Wake, it would be nice to acquire a pass rusher opposite to them. Vernon isn't very good people. Everyone fell in love with his double digit sacks in 2013, but as his pass rushing efficiency numbers suggested, he fell back to earth in 2014. He's a capable starter and an even better role player.
6. Trade down: Trade down and acquire more picks so we can fill some holes, for which we have a bunch of. Since Suh is eating what little cap space we have, we need to fill in holes another way. Draft picks.Aqua4Ever04 likes this. -

Depends on who we signed in FA. But assuming that other positions were taken care of with each of these picks and just going BPA or best for us?
Danny Shelton. 1 on 1 EVERY SNAP. Who could run against us with Suh and him?
Eric Kendricks. What we need in a MLB.
Trae Waynes. #2 to start but groomed to replace Grimes when he fades
Kevin White - Don't see him making it to us so why bother. Plus we can get a WR like Nelson in round 2Clark Kent likes this. -

The only issue I see with trading down is the possibility that teams may make a run on WRs late in the 1st.
-
EDIT: Cooper would be a guy that is the exception. If he's there when we pick, or if we can move up cheaply to get him, I would be more flexible with my attitude. I don't think he makes it past 5 though. -
