42. Miami - Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
72. Miami - Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State
73. Miami (from CAR) - Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California
It fills the 3 positions I think we need over these next 3 picks. Not sure if I like those picks though.
Especially with Bobbie Massie going to the Jets in that mock.
I'd rather go OT Massie at 42, DE Crawford at 72, WR Ryan Broyles at 73 based on that mock.

With the way that mock goes....I'd trade way down in the 2nd. 42nd pick is 480 points. Drop to around 60 and that's worth a mid to mid-late 3rd rounder.
That would give us 3 3rd's and we could still grab someone like Chris Givens, WR, Brandon Brooks, OG, Mike Adams, OT etc etc. Then come back and literally do WR/Safety and DE all in the 3rd would be sweet. -
Just give me Massie in the 2nd and let the BPA fall to us with our third round picks. I want a tackle that can start immediately and make an impact. I don't want to reach for one in the 4th and spend time developing him.

A. Janoris Jenkins is my first choice if available. Shutdown corners are hard to find. Take the gamble on character issues.
B. Rueben Randle would be my second choice if JJ isn't there.
Might not have a shot at either. In which case, I could be happy with almost anyone. Hopefully Tommy Streeter is still around in the 3rd. Length, speed, athleticism, and a ton upside coming out of his ***. -
Curry, Quick, Schwartz...yes sir

I'm surprised they have us taking Branch over Curry in this if were going DE.
Not a fan of that.Paul 13 likes this. -

because his football knowledge is limited to espn highlights? as much as this is a pass happy league you still win and lose based on your line play and how well you can protect your quarterback/create running room for your RB and other skill players.
I'd be happy with a OT or WR or fleener if he falls but WR might be a pressing need since we have so little at the postion as is. This whole "linemen don't score points so just plug a fat guy in there" mentality is pretty ignorant. Look how much better the steelers are than us talent wise at almost every position but their Oline literally sacked their playoff chances. -

Who cares where Mel Kiper says he should go? If you like a player enough, take him.Stitches likes this. -
If that tells you anything... :wink2:
Binn is a guy who is an overachiever, IMO. Undersized and I don't think he will amount to much in the NFL... he was a good player for us at Iowa though, no question.MrClean likes this. -
I just don't see him as a 3rd. Match up Broyles and come back with Nutt in the 4th.....sooooo much better. -
-
How about streeter in the 4th? he runs in the low 4.3s and is 6'4". He needs route running polishing tho

Offensive lineman are valuable. Just not as valuable as skill position players, especially day 2 of the draft, when our team is deficient in playmakers.. We have none beyond Cam Wake. We can't find a RT later in the draft? We can't sign a serviceable FA to play RT while we improve our skill positions?
We traded away 40% of passing offense to Chicago for peanuts... Our WR corps are trash beyond our slot guy Bess.
Vontae lead the team in INT with four. Randy Starks finished 2nd with two...
Red zone threats? None...
Draft more lineman? Expert maneuver. Smart.
brb going to watch more ESPN highlights. -

I also want Travis Benjamin at some point... -
Use your 4th to move up to he front part of the 2nd and grab Fleener or Upshaw.

Booya. RT it was. Sure I thought it was Massie, but then I never thought Martin would make it to us.
Martin also fits exactly what this new coaching staff wants in an OL. Athletic and under 320lbs. He's 312lbs at 6'5".
