Rodgers might know what Philbin could be leaning towards.

I think he's just saying it makes sense, given the system. All things being equal, it may give the Dolphins an advantage, but he still is a FA and his agent will try to get him the most money he can.

Imagine a packer/dolphin superbowl. Rogers vs Flynn. Mcarthy vs Philbin. Darth Vader Vs Obi-wan Kenobi.

Is he really worth more to anyone but us though? I mean he played well in ONE game he isn't going to get 50 million guaranteed and if he does then good luck to him. I could see him getting a deal close to the one Kolb signed for and if Philibin thinks he's worth it and wants to put his neck on the line for him I think thats not a bad risk to take to try and solve the Qb situation here.

I honestly do not know what people see in this guy. He may do OKAY in this system, but did anyone really watch that game against the Lions? Did the Lions' defense even play that day??? All but ONE of those TDs were made by the receivers or backs. First TD, Jordy Nelson (who is a top-5 wideout in my book) stiff arms for the TD. Second TD was thrown up on an offsides play by the Lions (not a great throw, and again, all Jordy Nelson). At least Flynn had the awareness to chuck it up there. Third TD was all YAC by the back. Fourth TD? An underthrown ball that went about 50+ yards in the air. Not pretty, in my opinion, and Nelson again, makes that play. His fifth TD was all YAC by Driver. And his sixth was a nicely placed pass on a one-on-one to Jarmichael Finley in the endzone for about 4 yards.
I think he makes good decisions (given the system) and he understands where he can/should go with the ball. I do not, however, think he is a great talent. He has a very average arm, and is decent in avoiding the rush (in the limited video I have seen).
If he signs with Miami, I would like to see him signed for 2 years and the contract be heavily incentive laden. Let him prove himself. If he signs with someone else for the kitchen sink, good for him, but do not color me impressed.
IMO, this QB is not worth it. I'd like for him to prove me wrong, but he is a stop-gap at best.dolfan7171 and UCF FINatic like this. -

If they don't do it, they should. What's the worst that can happen? We have trade bait in either one of them in year or two. IMO, you pick who think is a franchise QB till you get one. Then you can pick for other stuff, until that QB hits 30, then you start over picking QB's again. -
He is particularly lucky at throwing the long ball. Flynn was 3-3, 146 and 2 TD passes on throws over 31 yards as compared to an unlucky QB like Brady who was 1-15, 46 yards and 0 TD on throws over 31 yards.
Yea, luckiest QB ever! -
Rodgers on Wednesday told a Milwaukee radio station he sees the Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks as the “two top dogs” in the race for the talented backup, expected to become an unrestricted free agent in March. This is based on a conversation with Flynn “in the last few days,” Rodgers said of his backup quarterback in Green Bay the past four years.

Tells me Flynn has Miami on his mind and now the Philbin is coach I would think the Dolphins go to the top of the list as long as the contract offer is there. -

At any rate, that is really the question about Flynn. Is he ready to move up or not. Is the small sample we have of him enough to judge him for a huge payday. No doubt about it, he made himself millions of dollars in that one outing, so you have to say that he can perform under pressure...if he goes out there and bombs, loses the game, throws picks, whatever no one (Seattle, Washington, Cleveland, Miami) is having this discussion.
The advantage we (the Fins) have is that we have a more than one game and a few mop ups to base our decision on. We have a guy that was with him every step of the way since being drafted. Now, the kid may demand more than Ross/Ireland want to pay, but if Philbin gives the word to go after him, you have to figure the odds are the decision will be a good one...
Look, I'm just as happy to have him or Manning or Moore or Tannehill or whoever as long as we're winning games... -
I am sure the Lions would love to have won the game, if for no other reason then the fact the Packers are one of their big rivals. Other then that, the Lions certainly were not playing for all the marbles you imply they were. In fact I see this game as nothing but a glorified exhibition game, played in the regular season. I certainly would have loved to see how effective Flynn would have been in a game which actually meant something to either team.
Flynn did have great stats for the game, but I don't think that anyone should infer from this game that Flynn is the franchise QB the Dolphins have been looking for since Dan Marino retired. Philbin has seen him play and practice everyday for the past few years. I am sure that he knows if Flynn is the QB he wants to risk his job on. If the Dolphins attempt to sign him to be the starter next year, I will take this as a sign that Philbin thinks Flynn is ready to be a starter in the NFL. Right now though, we have no idea if Philbin even has any interest in Flynn as the teams future QB.smahtaz likes this. -
If he does not come to Miami, we'll know why. If he does come, I hope he proves me wrong. I would hate for him to be what Scott Mitchell was to Detroit.
EDIT: I guess my point is, is he the QB to carry a franchise, or is he just a piece of the puzzle? You can certainly win with a non-franchise QB, but can you win Super Bowls? I would be happy for a 49er-type season, but in the end, Alex Smith could not make a first down. Franchise QBs win Super Bowls. You always have a chance with a franchise QB. Look at the last 20 Super Bowl winners, and I bet you could count the "non-franchise" QB winners on one hand.
I guess my question to you is: Do you think he is a franchise QB? -
