Ronnie Brown could be out for the year
Posted by Mike Florio on November 18, 2009 5:54 AM ET
The Dolphins publicly have acknowledged that running back Ronnie Brown will miss Thursday night's game against the Panthers due to a foot injury suffered on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
The Dolphins have not publicly acknowledged that the team fears Brown will miss the remainder of the season.

Hmmm, I wonder what exactly defines a league source?
I can grasp the parameters of a "team source", a "PFT source", or even a "trusted source", suggesting the faint possibility, the writer actually knows the source, as it would be far from likely, to ever hear such a source in person.
It must suck to be a league source, always breaking the news, but never getting the credit. I suspect they're the same sorry saps who always get quoted as, "people say". -
True or not... that is definately not good news...
-
Thanks for the post, but I'm not buying it. Maybe because I don't want to until I see official word, but probably moreso because I don't want to get into a bad mood until I know 100% its true.
-
I could win the lottery this week.
I could be a movie star.
I could be 7 feet tall.
or not.
nice job PFT.Clipse, Ophinerated, jetssuck and 3 others like this. -
Well, PFT is clearly stepping in for Mortemer, however I do think phinfans may have to accept the idea that Ronnie may not be back until late in the season, if at all.
We all are sort of saying "yeah, ankle maybe a foot sprain" the reality is it could be a high ankle sprain coupled with a lis franc. -
late again likes this.
-
Either way though Az, our second wave players like Hillard and Sheets will have to step forward and produce. -
that PFT article just looks like the kind of baseless threads that pop up around here. he's just saying "what if," basically.
-
Well, as much as it would suck to lose Ronnie for the remainder of the season, it would give us a chance to better evaluate the other guys.
In other words, and I'm just spit balling here...let's say the FO isn't sure whether or not they want to sign Ronnie long term. Well, now they can get a real good (and extended) look at Hilliard and Sheets. Not too mention Pat White running the Wildcat.
Question though...how does this affect the value of a contract, if one is extended to Ronnie in the off season? In other words, does this help to reduce the amount the FO might be able to sign him for? Or, does it just completely muddy the waters (i.e., his agent still demands top market value, and durability questions cloud the situation)?
I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. Maybe he's back in 2-4 weeks and goes on a real tear to close out the season. Which renders most of my post moot. But, still...it's got me thinkin'. :headscratch: -
I think we should all just wait to see what the FO and medical staff officially say. Its all just maybes right now. I am seeing the glass half full rather than half empty right now. I will dump all the water in the glass and fill it with something really strong if he is out for the rest of the season....

I am going to cry if he is out for the year

Baseless speculation from PFT? Say it aint so!

Ronnie hurt again. Out for the season.
That would be a real shocker. :wink2:
Everyone will call it another fluke injury and say he isn't prone to injury.
Football players are on the field or not. Call it what you want but a player who can't stay on the field is useless. Don't get me wrong Ronnie is a good back but we have seen him off the field way too much in his career.
Deja Vu. -
No contract for the injury-prone tandem back?
better not be out for the season for his own good
Ricky doesn't need to run tandem & still has some good years ahead of him -
LMAO
Here we go again with "injury prone.". Newsflash: his injuries are not "injury prone" injuries. If he was pulling muscles, or getting concussions, those would be "injury prone". Rolling and ankle, blowing an MCL off a pick, and breaking your finger are not in the category of a guy being injury prone. He might be unlucky, though.

the Beast is a SpecialEdition
Ricky has had a relatively free 3 years to recharge & mend
also, he's never suffered a major injury to his legs, ankles or feet,
nor has he ever suffered a concussion that kept him out of a game
I suggest you subtract the three years
of relatively inactive time playing football
which makes just 29, than understand
he is a once in a decade phenomenon @ RB

When he retired he said it was cause he met Earl Campbell, in a wheel chair, at texas. He said that changed his life and i assure Ricky still remembers that image fondly. He will retire at the end of next season.like2god likes this. -
Take anything PFT says with a fistfull of salt. Florio will post anything.
And Ronnie isn't injury prone, I was waiting for this discussion to pop up again. Silliness. -
all running backs get hurt. (or, ya know, quit) -
The people that think that Ronnie Brown is injury prone have never heard of Brian Westbrook.

Adam Shefter just reported that Miami put Ronnie on IR...

Sad but true Fellas and Brutha's, the NFL is a meat grinder. -
Anyone wanna buy a Ronnie Brown jersey?
(kidding.... hey, why so sombre in here?) -
Shame about Ronnie.
Just hope this means we will get a good look at Henne.I'm a firm believer that the wildcat was hurting his abilities on the field. You just can't do that to a young QB.
Oh wait! Now Pat White will steal reps...Sorry,my bad. -
-
PFT was right ......
-
Now we get to see the real Dan Henning without the offensive attack that basically made him.
IMO, he's going to be exposed without Ronnie running the Wildcat. -
Luv ya bro, however Henning has been running herd on Super Bowl offenses since 1982, 30 years before there ever was a Wildcat.
Henning will be fine, and keep an eye on the offensive skill positions to see who steps forward after Ronnie B's season ending injury... -
