And the peasants rejoice:
- Omar
So he means we'll be resigning Henne, I like it.

I wanted Flynn before we got Philbin but now that he's here I think Flynn is a no-brainer. Sign Flynn, trade down in the draft and acquire a TE, WR, G, RT, S with high picks or FA and we may get into the playoffs next year.

I see you post, and its just the word "Ross", and then smiley face characters. Yet to see a decent post about football out of you. Just half hearted quips against your opinion. Half-hearted would give them too much credit actually.Aquafin likes this. -

Although, I don't necessarily think we necessarily have to trade down. The 8th or 9th pick in the draft can get a blue-chip talent that drafting 15th or below may not.Aquafin and Ohio Fanatic like this. -

I guess Ross isn't quite so sure Henne breaks Marinos records after all.
-
well, he got his HC ... now it is up to him to offer the $$$ to bring in the QB ... which means either Flynn or Brees ... slight chance with Brees of course - but you never know ...
-
Firedan Henne has yet to brake Damon Huard's record or Jay Feidler's record yet. ha,ha,ha

ESPN saying we are going to monitor the health and availability of Peyton Manning.
That would be a stupid move.WharfRat and Tin Indian like this. -

I trust Philbin if we go after Flynn, because a first year coach will only mortgage his job on someone like Flynn if he's confident he's got "IT". If not, we trade up/trade for a current QB and get this ball rolling.
I think this quote also show that Ross nor anyone else in our FO believe in Moore being that franchise QB for us. -
I'd still go after Peyton Manning if he's healthy. It's been reported that the Colts can't afford to have both on the roster. Not sure if that's 100% accurate but either way Peyton makes this team a Super Bowl contender. You can still draft a guy and let him sit if you need to.
I also don't think Matt Flynn is a certainty like media and some fans believe. He's still a FA and is still going to go to the highest bidder.Dolphins1Beatles likes this. -

Then there is RG3, another popular 'can't miss' guy. But first we have to be able to convince someone that we can pay more in picks than Cleveland (something that is going to be very, very difficult...they have 2 1st rounders this year to give up and still may be able to just sit tight, get RG3 and do nothing). Heck, they may even be able to trade up to get Luck, if Irsay thinks Manning is healthy, although, Manning or no Manning, they'd be stupid not to draft Luck.
Brees ?? Don't make me laugh...'not gunna happen' in my best Dana Carvey imitation...
I'd say the best option we have is to stay where we are and hope to get Weeden in the 2nd round...
No, I'm afraid that having enough money is not the issue here, it's about whether we want to mortgage the future to get a 'potential' franchise QB...gunn34 likes this. -

1) They have already said they won't
2) They have other needs that may require the franchise tag this year, and not worth wasting it on a back up QB.
3) I get that the idea of franchising him is so you can trade him and get some compensation, but I think if you franchise him it makes it harder to trade him. By tagging him he gets something like $15 million guaranteed that year, so any team that trades for him will have to pay $15 mil and then come to terms on a long term deal. I just can't see a team being happy with having to give up picks and a huge contract.
4) Green Bay has very little investment in Flynn. He was a 7th round pick, it's not like they need to recoup a high draft pick or high salary.
5) Green Bay may have no problems with letting him go. They are a classy organizaton, and they may let him go because it is the best thing for him. -
The Dolphins want Peyton Manning first and foremost for the short term which I still think is a bad idea.
-
I don't know if Flynn will be a great QB. I do know nothing else we spend cap room or draft picks on is more important than finding a franchise QB. Nothing else matters compared.
Anything said to the contrary is wrong or a lie. Just since 2000, only two teams have won a SB without a franchise QB. And they had to have two of the best defenses of all time to do that.
QB first. -
Peyton isn't going to risk being in a wheelchair to play some more football, so if he does want to play, I think he knows his body better than anyone else.
I will glady take Peyton in the short term for 3 or 4 seasons, because imagine if he does stay healthy? That's 3 or 4 years the Dolphins are super bowl contenders, something that hasn't happened in a looooong time. And we can still draft a QB and Matt Moore is still on the roster, so it's a no-brainer. Flynn is a bigger question markslickj101 likes this. -
You'd think there's a strong chance he comes back though. If it were certain he'd never play again I'm sure he would've announced it by now. -
There is a flip side to that coin.
If WE DON'T go after Flynn...it sends a signal to the rest of the league that Flynn absolutely sucks.
Which gives a pretty good inside track on getting a good QB this year.
BUT..and it is a big but....Peyton Manning is healthy? Then you sign him..period. A healthy Peyton Manning means a 3 year window to win a Super Bowl. Yeah, you read that correctly. -
