If the school systems in our country weren't horribly corrupt with the money beibg funneled down, there would be no issue with education money.
Anyone who says we don't spend enough money on education, or thinks we need as much as we do is a clueless idiot. The problem is corruption.DHPVW, SICK, Hobiesailor and 6 others like this. -
I agree. I would also throw in parents and kids being dumb as a box of rocks nowadays. Parents don't want to parent and kids want everything handed to them on a platter.steveincolorado, fins1 and GreysonWinfield like this. -

I don't and never have lived in South Florida, but it would kill me to see the team leave. I wish no ill on the people of the area with taxes and whatnot, but I also want the stadium to be renovated and improved as much as possible.
If everything with JRS aka SunLife falls apart, how realistic would it be to move to a location north of Ft Lauderdale to a more welcoming community, and stay in South Florida? -

Without this becoming a political debate, why shouldnt Ross get a tax break? Every other owner asks the state to front the money. Ross is willing to front the 400M + if the state cuts him a 3.8M tax break. How is that not fair? Otherwise hed be asking for 400M+ which the state doesnt have and shouldnt use for stadiums anyway. Just let the man keep the 4M. They dont know how to spend it intelligently anyway.eltos_lightfoot, Xeticus, jdallen1222 and 6 others like this. -

If he is not going to use county services than OK

And it's not about having a winning team. The Heat are a perennial title contenders and yet AAA is half full at tip off more often than not. Miami is good sized market on paper but in reality it's pretty crappy when it comes to filling stadiums. Moving to Broward might help some but not a whole lot, most of the Broward folk who attend games regularly are already making the trip south for games as it is. -

So what the hell would Miami Gardens' schools be like if the Dolphins never started in Miami? This is almost extortion. Reminiscent of police precincts that include private seizures in their budgets. Gives them an incentive to seize everything.

Let's not pretend Broward citizens are making a long drive to Miami Gardens... Basically a 15-20 minute drive. I live in Miami/Kendall and the drive from my house is about 40 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. So Broward citizens share just as much blame for stadium attendance as do Miami citizens. Joe Robbie placed the stadium right down the middle.

Let me understand this...
Ross wants to do a 400 million dollar renovation to a building that is close to obsolete. A renovation that would create a LOT of well paying construction jobs. A renovation that will have fees and permits out the *** (all of which go to the city). He wants to revitalize an area, possibly creating more opportunity for development, and the accompanying tax revenue. The stadium creates a tax and revenue stream all on it's own, without the property tax crap and he wants to improve it.
And in exchange for this, all the man wants is a level playing field with other comparable business?
And people think he's "asking for too much, should be treated the same"?
Bull****.
I am VERY against public funding for stadium. This is not public funding. This is a man willing to spend 400 million out of pocket and all he wants is the same as the other guy is getting.
The alternative?
He gets ****ed around enough, throws his hands up in disgust and sells the team. Like he said, do any of the "don't give him a cent" crowd think the team can't move? You bet your *** they can. If a new owner gets a sweetheart deal with a brand new stadium do you think he will stay in Miami so he can get ****ed at every corner by local politicians? Not a chance.
I don't like Ross, for a variety of reasons. I'm starting to warm to the guy though. 400 million dollars buys a lot of loyalty....unless it's in Miami Gardens, I guess. -
It is clear to me that South Florida doesn't want the Miami Dolphins anymore if they are honestly complaining about this deal. He is asking for an equivalent tax break that other businesses get. What is the problem here? South Florida should be saying "Where do I sign?"

Man, Braman must have a big dick in SoFla. It's the only thing I can think of that is causing the irrationality of the politicians.

Owning a stadium is like owning a boat. If it were a profitable venture then companies would be lining up to buy them.
The Dolphins could go undefeated for 3 years and Ross would never realize any return from this $400M investment.
Anyone that questions Ross' commitment is an idiot.Colorado Dolfan, vizi0n, 666Dog and 3 others like this. -
Ross is just being honest. At his age he's not going to own the team for long. If he can't push through what needs to be done when he's giving a sweetheart deal, there isn't a single buyer out there that would keep the team there. Not when the area won't work with them at all.

Whoever is, you need to check yourself cause your one of the reasons why this culture is toxic in the first place, all you wanna do is here your self piss and moan, you think when you hear yourself or see yourself in print *****ing that your somebody, you forget about it's not about you, but what's good for team..
If your ungrateful for the gesture by the owner! after the last gesture by the owner, than why don't you just go screw yourself. -

Move the team to West Palm, and build a new stadium next to Morosso. San Fran did it to the city they represent as well. Less crime, more money, better location to accommodate parking.
