Ross/Ireland - To get Manning - Please read this!!!

You clearly don't know our Dear Owner and our Esteemed General Manager.

The only question i want them to ask Manning is: "Peyton, is your momma a whore?"

Lol. If I were making a multi-million dollar investment I would do a thorough checkup.

Because asking if someones mother is a prostitute is way out if line when someone tells you there father was a pimp and their mother worked for him.

Since you came on this board you haven't made one positive comment, yeah I know the dolphins have made you pessimistic blah blah blah just like all of us we've been let down in the past, but would it kill you to be a little less hopeless about everything someone posts.

And I think we have all had enough of the Ireland "whore" references about every player he talks to.

Manning has already said he will be healthy and will play in 2012.

A someone who wants this to happen, I think it would be a mistake to pay a guy millions upon millions of dollars and simply take his word for it. We may not physically examine him. We may not insist that he throw. But at a minimum, medical research and consultations will need to be done. And personally, I'd need for him to throw so I could see where we are right now. I think that's more than fair. If he doesn't want to throw -- and the world knows he's been throwing, mind you -- then I think you pause.

I have zero doubts that Peyton believes he'll play in 2012. But that doesn't make it so. Dan Marino was still confident during the 1999 season as his body finally fell apart, thanks to nerve damage (sound familiar?) and his legs being shot. That's what makes these guys so great; that supreme and unshakable confidence in themselves and their abilities.

I'm not pessimistic or hopeless. At this point I am just apathetic. Until they show me something different, i will remain stoic to every decision they take. But, you can never lose your sense of humor. Sarcasm works well.

So you watch him throw and then what? Do your really think the Ross won't offer a contract? If he is unsure, ok then go through the motions. But I can assure you there are teams out there that are already "SURE". So they will sign him and we will save our money. I firmly believe that 70% Manning is better than anything we will have in the next three year. We should be developing a young QB while "GAMBLING" on Manning. Outside of the money, the down side is about the same.

I want to see him throw the full route tree, and then come back the next day and do it again. Manning has to prove that is he capable of still playing. It is never incumbent on a potential employer to assume that the person in consideration is fully capable of doing the job, it is the duty of the person who wants the job to prove he can do it. If he wants the money, and he wants to play, show that he still has what it takes. And 70% of anyone at 36 whose rehab is incomplete and is more than likely going to decline as the season progresses is sure as #&!! not going to better than a 75% of Manning younger draftee QB with his health and youth who will improve with coaching. That 70% stuff is better than anything we are going to have is udder bovine scatology even if you fudged the probability tables.

So Ross should do what Irsay did last year? That worked out well. LOL

To invest in Manning you would only hope they would make sure he could perform.

I would hope that we would investigate his health, if Manning is offended by that then he shouldn't sign here. I would love to see a healthy Manning play here for a couple of seasons but if we sign a broken down Manning without checking him out we would just be proving all of the media and fair weather fans that blast the FO right because we'd have a front office that is desperate and doesn't know what its doing.

I like the fact that Ireland isn't politically correct and gets straight to the point. Why would you ask, "What does your mother do for your father?" when you could just ask, "So your mom is a prostitute?" Ireland is my type of man.

I can understand the OP's point, one I believe Ross identifies with, and views as a role which he appears to have placed upon himself to fulfill, as the good cop/ surrogate Irsay.
Whatever the case, it allows Ireland to serve as bad cop, who follows the standard protocol, in conducting a thorough performance evaluation. A mere formality of course, but required of all players on the team. Nothing personal, its only business.
