I am somewhat surprised they kept Nalbone over Sperry. I know Nalbone is a draft pick, but Sperry actually scored last year, for whatever thats worth.
I guess Nalbone has been showing improvement? That or they might sign Sperry to practice squad?
Sperry showed some promise last year, but unfortunatley for him hes playing behind fasano, martin, haynos and like previously mentioned a draft pick in Nalbone.
If hes eligible id like to keep him on the practice squad, see what he can do next year.
Shame about Sperry. Damn you Fasano! You and your stupid hands, stupid feet, stupid blocking, stupid play-acting, stupid running! You too, Haynos! You and your stupid lineman build and 6'8" frame! Stupid Nalbone!

I doubt this first wave of cuts ultimately land on the PS. I liked Sperry somewhat, but too much of a logjam at TE. Better they let him go and try out with someone else.
But in my mind, PS players are for players ranked 54-63, at least those with PS eligibility. None of these guys were close.
Well Nalbone has practice squad time left, though he has not done a thing in two years, as in not a single play in the preseason, was not active in the regular season and I've yet to hear a reporter say anything about him other than he drops passes in Training Camp.
i like the kid. good mentality too. wants to score everytime.....no other thought in his mind other than "score"
Gotta love that.....hope he gets his hands on the ball on defense and has the same mentality
More or less, that is why RGM and Davis are gone, Sparano meant it when he said "very few opportunites for the bottom of the roster guys"..Davis and RGM had 1 return chance apieace.

With Sparano, you either feed the wolf or get fed to the wolves.
Maybe we can bring Ivey back as an equipment manager or something. That dude cam move alot of shoulder pads at once!
Bummer about Sperry though.
siciliansith, , rafael and 1 other person like this.
i think Ivey is coming back to the PS ..... but still think we'll pick up someone else to help out at NT as the cut downs occur .... same for OLB, and probably with S .... i see us picking up 3 to round out the roster .....
we are gunning for a playoff run THIS year ....

How many more do we have to cut?
I believe 1 more, but keep in mind Ireland loves to pick through waived players so it is still up in the air.
Dude mid-day 40oz. guzzling never works....you crash around 5pm and are done, especially if there is any sunlight and you are outside....ahhhhhhh sun-mug
As for the Stationary 360 of Death, is there any semi-permanent undertakers of it?? Cam still rolling hard on a the S360??
If any of the three go to the PS my guess is that itd be Ivey but im not sure any of them will.
Sperry though liked by a lot .... just isn't what we are looking for in a TE ... he would have to bring something else to take a spot
Some people mention that we may bring one or two of these guys on the practice squad.
What is the norm? I would have thought releasing these guys later after squads are set or other teams round out PS we have better chance to keep them.
This seems more in the area of you guys are good kids. We are gonna get ya out there early to find a team.
How does this usually go down?
I'm pretty sure guys who we are more likely to get on the PS are released in the final cuts when possible, because that way players who you want to retain for PS are less likely to get poached (probably won't see McCoy, Wallace, and either Spitler/Folsom get cut until the last week for example). I think Amaya is a good candidate for the PS too actually.
You do cuts now with people who have no chance to make the team, or guys who likely won't make the team but you want to give a chance for them to make someone else's squad (Sperry likely falls in this camp) for one reason or another.

he had that whirling dervish catch against the jags. remember he's coming from a small school. so he's a three year project
Sperry has played in 8 games, so it appears he is eligible.

This is my take and makes sense thanks
EDIT HOW MANY GAMES WAS WHITE ACTIVE?
Im not bashing but is it possible to really hide him? Im a pAt guy cuz i want the kid to succeed .i know he isnt the best option, but this would change everything.
Pat White is not eligible for the PS. I'm pretty sure it's been pointed out that he took snaps in 13 games last year (or at the very least he was certainly active for that many).
Turner may be PS eligible however, not sure they want him there though. I'm not sure if I'd prefer him over Pruitt.

yeah question was regarding Pat White and i expected that but thanks for the info.
Just wanted to chime in with the fact Ireland loves picking up waiver players, so even the "final" roster is not the final roster, especially if some good Vet Wr/Kr shakes lose like Crayton, or a Rb/KR like Stefan Logan or Clifton Smith.
Or a swing Tackle or..last yr Nate Garner was waived, then put on the PS, the resigned to the roster in order to protect "a Te"..

No surprises here, the next round of cuts will really be interesting.
I tell you what though PR..if a player wants to stay on Sparano Island, they will begin shinning on ST kick coverage duty or they are going to feed the wolves..
Sperry claimed by Broncos.
Special Teams bro, Ck said Spitler was a dominant ST player at OSU, that is his in on the Active Roster.
That is Spitler's Edge, if he can grasp it.
Also a path of a Loser Trowa, nothing wrong with finding crumbs, sooner or later they will have to develop a system that relies on Internal Coaching in Denver.
