SLATER SCOOP: LB Koa Misi is retiring. He plans to tell the Miami Dolphins tomorrow, source says.
Not sure how accurate but I wish him well if it's true
Can't say I'm surprised to see this reported.
If it's true it is what you might expect from a 30 year old veteran who is no lock to make a roster and has is having ongoing medical comcerns.
It also is exactly the type of false rumor that spreads easily because it fits our preconceptions.

DisgustipatesubscriberI'm not sure if it makes sense for Misi to retire now. The Dolphins could theoretically try and get his signing bonus back(although it isn't a lot of cap space by any means) if he does it with years left on his contract.
That being said, even if he retires the Dolphins lost some cap space on their gamble on him. He agreed to a pay cut that guaranteed more money, so retiring/cutting him now saves $1.2m instead of the $4m it would have on his old contract.

Yeah, 5.5 mil is still owed, and I don't think they can get the signing bonus back, .5 mil next year, unless he retires, because I believe you need a "fault" on the side of the player to get it back.
The team is still scrambling to get guys under the cap and mortgaging the future to do so, when they don't have the SB ready team to justify it, and these types of renegotiations are going to be our downfall imo.

This team/players as it looks now, will look so much different come 2018
with all the cap hit increases
