Armando still trying to spin things in favor of his only source within the team. He's been going after Philbin since the Tampa Bay game, and you can bet that Ireland has been planting the seed. Watch when the new GM takes control, Armando will try to butter up to him and get in good graces in an attempt to create a source.
It's funny that you have Armando saying that the Dolphins reputation league wide isn't good, yet Jeff Darlington is reporting that this is a very attractive opportunity according to what he has heard in NFL circles. You can bet that Jeff Darlington has more sources in the NFL than Armando has. There is a reason Darlington went national while Armando is stuck at the Herald. It probably stings Armando some that he was a beat writer back in the mid '90s, Darlington comes in, is a beat writer for a couple of years, and now is one of the NFL's top reporters. All while Armando is still a beat writer.
Also, I had a feeling that Ireland wouldn't leave quietly and would do his best to bring the organization down with him. That's just how that SOB works. He's a piece of crap, and I'm embarrassed that he was a part of this organization.mbsinmisc, smahtaz, CashInFist and 19 others like this. -

Now we know why Philbin & Aponte were hugging.
Aponte should probably stick to the numbers side of the game if she can't understand the actual playing side of it that entailed melt downs and poor performances against inferior teams that cost us a playoff trip. She should've been pissed at Joe and the coaching staff right along with Ireland, not running to his aid. If this report is true, I wouldn't want this woman anywhere near our organization. She can go support pathetic play somewhere else.CashInFist, 2socks, 2xBlown and 7 others like this. -
LOL Armando is the worst. I'm not even clicking that link. The replies here were enough for me.

So what he's saying is Aponte is one of my heroes for getting this silly ginger fired. That's what I got out of that article. ..

This is tabloid gutter trash, even by Mando's lowly standards. The sad thing is I see people on Twitter who actually take what he says seriously.

I agree with Armando, even though I'm ecstatic Ireland is gone and even happier about Jason Cole's report that Ross's top candidate for the position is my guy Gamble, he brings up something we all fear could negatively affect this vital new GM search...and that's Ross forcing both Philbin and Aponte on these executives. It could make this opening a lot less desirable.
this isn't like a head coaching job, for the most part you only get one crack at being the head man in the front office...yes, these executives dream of eventually being a GM and running their own team, but they aren't just going to accept any offer, they're going to weigh the pros and cons, they're going to look at all the circumstances with the job, the owner, the talent already assembled on the team, contracts, cap space, future draft picks, everything, it has to be favorable to them, they want a situation that gives them the best chance to succeed. MOST of them want to be able to choose the guy who'll be on the sidelines coaching the talent they acquire.
I just pray Ross makes enough concessions to convince a Gamble or a Marc Ross to take this job. -

While he may have an agenda, he makes the same points that I've been worried about since before we knew whether or not Ireland would be fired -

Ian Rapoport said on NFL Network today (I just had to tune in when the news broke) that this job is considered very, very attractive by NFL executives. Jeff Darlington said the same thing on Twitter.
Both of them indicated that they had actually talked to people around the NFL (Darlington said they were contacting him) while Armando is essentially just speculating.
I wouldn't panic. In fact, I would be very hopeful right now that they are finally going to get this thing right. Tom Gamble would be a fantastic hire if we can swing it. -

IS anything anyone in this organization has done or is doing really worthy of admiration? I mean, we excised a cancer, but did so in unpleasant fashion.
Not sure Aponte is the girl you bring home to meet Mom. She's just the snake that was mean enough to kill the rat we had infesting us, and for that I am grateful.
But we're grateful because we were tired of the rat, and because it's stench was more noticeable. Aponte will be less noticed by the public, due to her role, but it doesn't make her any more pleasant.
For instance there are rumors she was the one who helped cover up the Richie Incognito golf course incident. -
And then there's the whole locker room leaking that they felt Philbin didn't motivate the team very well. And other rumors about coaching/player disenchantment.
For the record, I disliked Jeff Ireland as a GM. I'm thrilled he is gone. But I don't think that exonerates the coaching staff of all responsibility for the losses, and even mistakes during the wins.mbsinmisc, Wyvern_Bob and ToddPhin like this. -
