None of these names inspire confidence. If anything, they terrify me.

Or it's being floated to Mando by Jeff Ireland as a "be careful what you wish for" warning to the fanbase

Jimmy Johnson would be one to keep in mind for Prez. One wants a guy with ties.

If you can slow that down for a few days, let things cool off, you can survive -
Since I don't think Ross has a clue when it comes to running an NFL football team. My expectations is that he will decide to stick with Ireland and Philbin and that the only changes which might be made is that Sherman is replaced, along with Turner and Taylor. Of course there is always the chance that Philbin will convince Ross that he wants to keep Sherman as the OC and no one will lose their job.
So with Ireland and Philbin remaining in their positions. My expectations for next year is that the Dolphins will once again finish the 2014 at 500 or below for the sixth straight year. This will also be the exact number of years Ross will have been the majority owner of the Dolphins.
The only hope for Dolphin fans for the future is that Ross will sell the team and someone who actually knows something about building a successful NFL franchise will purchase the team. Ross might be smart enough in the real estate business to have made his billions, but I am fully convinced that he is the major problem with this franchise at this time. I don't ever see this team being better than mediocre, as long as he is the teams owner. -
Gaine might be a good promotion. Not sure what I think about the rest. Probably not any of them instill confidence. Gaine I could live with as GM.

Cant we just punt. There are no interesting alternatives in those names.

Wow, I would rather Ireland than Tannenbaum. I'd rather a 5 year old child than Mike Tannenbaum. He is a complete and utter joke.
I could live with some of those other scenarios, but why does it seem like Ross is stuck in this vicious cycle of scraping the bottom of the barrel by looking at people already associated with this team, or those who have failed elsewhere? Why not try and bring someone else in from a winning organization?cdz12250 likes this. -

This is the important point. It is well and good to want to upgrade Philbin and Ireland, but what if these are the most likely alternatives?
The best play in this circumstance might be to hang on for another year.
Unless you really really believe in Mangini and Carl Peterson. -
A part of me is hoping Ross is taking his time to SELL the organization and let the new owner make proper moves

I love how Mando throws out all those names as options, yet they don't appear on anyone else's radar. Go crawl back under Jeff's desk.

This seems like scaremongering to me. I refuse to believe that a guy who targeted Jim Harbaugh and Peyton Manning and Jeff Fisher would then turn around and think retreading an inner circle of Jets/Parcells tree failures would be ideal. It's just such a complete 180 from what we know he's done.

Right now fans are angry and want change but if change doesn't take place, more and more fans will just turn apathetic toward the football team. Angry fans are angry because they care about the team. Apathetic fans are worse for the organization because these fans no longer care about the team and they don't care if the team wins, loses, or even moves out of South Florida. So Ross should take heed what the angry fans are saying or he will eventually have a fan base that no longer cares at all about the Dolphins.ASOT likes this. -

Pioli maybe. The rest are losers and rookies.

I wonder if this list was leaked to show less than desirable names are only available, which is of coarse false.

...had to see what the reaction from this site was on the disappointment of how this year ended......it is the basically universal disappointment whatever site you choose to post at....
Reg: this thread.........believe it or don't believe it; this is just a drive by post for some of the good ones here at TP .. FACT .... Ross met with someone November 30, in New York...and it was none of those mentioned in the article...and it was not Carl Petersen either...........very very few know who and Mando ain't one of them. -

What I do know as a long time season ticket holder is that I personally know more than a dozen former season ticket holders who don't even watch the games anymore. They got fed up with the team over the past ten years and they now spend their time during games playing golf, boating, or in some other pursuit not related to watching a team they used to care enough about they spent thousands of dollars a year attending games.
They are 100% apathetic in regards to the Dolphins and if you look at all the empty seats at Dolphin home games, you see more and more apathy every week. Also the low TV ratings for Dolphin games in South Florida are also a sign of more and more apathy regarding this team.
By staying with the status quo, Ross will merely be feeding into this apathy by more and more former Dolphin fans. Perhaps he doesn't care about what the fans want and he will just stick with what hasn't worked. If that's the case, no one should complain next year when the fans don't show up for the games. If he doesn't care about building a winning team for the fans and hiring the best individuals to make that happens. Why should fans care about his team?ASOT likes this. -
