Warren Sharp is a guy who is very good at his job. He is right in his analysis more often than not, so when he says our schedule isn't as bad as once forecasted? Maybe we can hope the playoffs are a real possibility.
Looking at it from a situational standpoint, our Dec schedule is brutal on the road with 3 potential "snow" games.
Here is my Pre-Pre Season GUESS on where we finish.
@SEA L - I dont see a blow out here, but vs a QB who can neutralize a pass rush and extend plays and our CB talent?? We will be scored on. SEA 27 MIA 20
@NE W - Not buying the hype that NE is still a top level team without Brady. Bill knows Ryan well and thats scary but Phins win a slugfest. MIA 17 NE 13
CLE W - Will RG3 still be upright by this game? He will take a beating and Miami has a breakout offensive output. MIA 34 CLE 14
@CIN W - I will be at this game arguing with drunk Kentuckians. Denver beats up Cin on the short week and we win a tight one. MIA 20 CIN 17
TEN L - Mariotta IMO will make a huge leap on an already promising start to his Career. Defense won't be able to contain him. TEN 23 MIA 16
Pitt L - Despite having a defense as bad as ours, they have the best WR/QB combo in football now. We ruin Tannys 400 yd passing day. PITT 34 MIA 30
BUF W - Mario will seek revenge on Rex and the Bills who find it harder to play Miami when they can pass block a lil. MIA 23 BUF 13
NYJ W - A new leaf is turned over, we are now 3-0 in the division thanks to Kiko's INT to the house late in the game. MIA 21 NYJ 20
@SD W - Rivers does all he can but MIA is starting to look like a well oiled machine. MIA 29 SD 24
@LAR L - Bad spot for the Dolphins here, Goff will be coming into his own and Gurley will gash us. Bad day for Mia. LAR 31 MIA 13
SF W - SF travels to the East coast, they are a BAD team unless CKap n Chip mesh. Ugly game. MIA 15 SF 12
@BAL L - Last year Lamar Miller beat the Ravens, this year he is a Texan. December football off to a bad start. BAL 24 MIA 13
ARI L - The playoffs are slipping away as the best overall team in football trounces the Phins. ARI 37 MIA 17
@NYJ L - National TV at the Jets? Not the best history there. NYJ 23 MIA 21
@BUF W - The season sweep is complete as I dont see Tyrod taylor still healthy at this point. MIA 19 BUF 10
@ NE L - They have Brady, they will have something to play for....Phins collapse is complete. NE 35 MIA 23
Another year...another .500ish record.

Nice write-up Fin-O. One difference IMO is that we pull off the unprecedented sweep of the Patsies.
The difference makers:
- our improved Oline play
- Patsies lack of pass rush with no Chandler Jones
- Our passing game will be all over the Patsies defense
Finish 9-7Fin-O and Unlucky 13 like this. -
the key to the season are weeks 5-9 (including bye). We're at home and can clean up with some rest with the bye. After that, we could have two cupcake games after gaining momentum on the road. By the end of week 11, we will know who we are

so you call the thread "schedule not so tough" and then predict 8-8....lol

I really think we win 10. Been saying it for a few weeks. Gase is the answer, imo.

Biggest factor is a rookie coach. I look for a lot of first year coaching mistakes that will haunt us like they have in the past. Not buying into the rookie HC taking us to the playoffs this year. IMO .500 would be pure luck this season.

If the Dolphins go 8-8, Gase should be considered for coach of the year. With our very weak secondary and questionable LB unit, this appears to be a bottom ten defense in 2016.
They really don't have a single RB on the team who appears to be able to remain healthy throughout a season. I see 6-10 as about the best this team will do this season and will be very happy if they can finish 8-8, as you predict. -

I think people don't realize that if we win 8 games is a nice improvement and things are going in the right direction. I'd love to win more but we do have a hard schedule and a lot of new players, coaching staff, etc. If we win 10 games Gase is a lock for Coach of the Year unless someone goes 16-0.

Not sure why the Titans game is an L. We destroyed them last time.

Gase is more tangible than Philbin ever was. Philbin was overrated based on his impact on GB and Rodgers.Gase was the OC for Denver and Chic during some real good offensive teams. John Fox took him to Chic, which tells you a lot -
At first glance at the roster we are going to struggle against some of these defenses. I think that if we can block at least "decently" we can get to 9-7. If the oline is hurt by injuries we might be a bit worse than last year. As far as the defense we are going to get torched through the air. Not a ton we can do about it. The lack of depth and talent is going to kill us. It is up to the defensive line to unleash hell with Suh,Wake and Williams. If they do it can help the secondary and the LB's. That I believe would be worth 10 wins. As cliche' as it is defense is going to carry us. We just have to hold on and hope it stays together.
P.S male nipples are not sexy just wanted to throw that out there.

So how do you feel about the Buckeyes this year? -

I legitimately expect 12 wins, with the floor being 10. Everything I've been told about Ryan Tannehill the past few years and how it's the offensive lines fault, we've upgraded the line and he will be playing behind the best line of his career this year, we should have 12 wins now.

Boring prediction but I see 3-3 against the AFC East
2-2 vs the NFC
2-2 vs the North
Which means a winning season will come down to Tenn and San Diego. Mularky and McCoy. Both terrible. On the other hand they have Rivers and Marriotta. Tough to call. -

Its hard to not overreact to the bludgeoning the defense is putting on the offense so far this camp, and on paper the defense shouldn't even be very good. Granted the offense has looked like garbage whenever Parker is out but if an often injured wide receiver makes or breaks you then the prognosis is bleak. Is learning a new offense and having all the audible and protection responsibilities too much for Tannehill? If so this season could be 2007 bad.

The offense has been such a topic this offseason and what has been "holding them back" but we have a very talented and proven DL that frankly didn't play well.
Point being that talent can give any offense fits...so hopefully it's not just their own offense they dominate in 16.

Is this the same guy that did that bunk Patriots fumble story? The one that was full of holes? Yeah his analysis is forever suspect for me.
The reason they give for our schedule being easier is because the Jets and Bills were downgraded. We have a brutal first month and the second hardest last month.
And the Bills and Jets have never been pushovers for us -

I just can't get past the horrific mistakes he made with the fumble data and then doesn't do a follow up after 2016 when the Patriots led the league ... Again. Had one of their best fumble rates. Where is he? Never issued a correction either after his mistakes were pointed out.
Is he Omar Kelly's alter ego?
