This is what I have been talking about for a while now. The chances of this happening aren't astronomical. Andrew Luck is so hyped the power is in his camp to an extent we havent seen before, even with Eli's case.
The scout in question has been digging into the situation for years and he thinks based on the personalities of Andrew and especially Oliver, and the way the two have orchestrated their decisions in the past, that Andrew could very well pull an Eli if the wrong team is picking #1 overall.
Miami may have to woo this man, it won't be easy.

If Sparano and Ireland were still here by next draft, maybe this would be an issue if we had the first pick. But they won't be, Ross has to and will clean house. With that said, this guy would be coming to a team with a bruiser at running back, an elite left tackle, an elite wide receiver and a storied franchise.
How many teams in recent memory have that situation going for them? -
-
Marshall is not elite...and let's see how Thomas does for a season before anointing him.
-
This is what i am afraid of. Sparano won't be here, but hopefully Ireland is gone as well. won't other teams could he not want to play for?
When do underclassmen have to declare by? mid Jan? And when do we find out the
order of the draft? -
So basically, one unnamed scout thinks something might happen. Okay, that's well and good, but what's the evidence? The Luck family's personalities?
Ross absolutely does have to hit a home run when remaking the football side of this organization, though. And if he actually does have a bias against current assistant GMs, he'd better get over that real quick, because one can imagine Omar Khan or Joe Horitz convincing Luck that this franchise is the correct way to go.

It might depend on the Head Coach. He may not be willing to follow the College experiment.
We might need to give a coach who's had some contact with Luck this season. A guy like Gruden.
If we had gotten Harbaugh, and sucked enough for a 10th pick or so, I could see him having done this to get to us. -
Why on Earth would Luck not want to play for the Dolphins? We have a rich tradition, good weather, and despite the record we have some nice talent to work with on both sides of the ball...including 3 solid receivers and 2 outstanding pieces on the offensive line.

Andrew is too humble and team oriented to do that.
Plus, this is Miami. We are STARVED for a star QB. Beautiful women, beautiful weather, no state tax...... and a franchise that will already have a legit #1 WR in Brandon Marshall and some good pieces to work with.
IMO, there is nothing to this article.gunn34 and Section126 like this. -
Luck doesn't seem to have that kind of ego...

Luck is the first player that I'm worried about almost every team with no business picking a quarterback taking Luck anyway purely for trading to the highest bidder and stockpiling picks.
Ya sure, Eli "orchestrated" where he wanted to go... To move up 3 spots from #4 to #1, the Giants gave the Chargers their 4th overall pick (Rivers) and their 3rd round (#65) pick in that draft, and then their 1st and 5th round picks in 2005.
Even if Luck "orchestrated" getting out of going to the #1, they'll get so many draft picks for him it won't be funny. It'll be the Herschel Walker trade 2.0 for a rookie. -
We'll see, I suspect his dad will be a player in all of this.steveincolorado likes this. -

Dont care the cost. He11, raiders just gave a 1 and maybe another for an aging Palmer. Give away the farm as I am concerned (as long as he will oblige) sooo sick of watching 16 diff qbs and counting! As for the weather and storied tradition...sounds like SD to me.

No, the lack of touchdowns are all on Marshall. However, he's still a legit number one wide receiver.

but Marshall has been dragging his feet out on the football field. Seems like he doesn't care -
Doubt it. But if Andrew Luck pulls off an Eli Manning, then the Phins can produce "The Great Train Robbery II."

A catchable pass is not just one within reach. Placement and velocity matter.Sceeto likes this. -
Eh...I'll worry about it in February/March/April...
But Ross better be on his game. He better fire Ireland's @$$, don't need him pissing off another draft prospect like he did with Dez Bryant. -
I am guessing if the stars align and we have the #1 pick, and in the small chance but worst case scenario he refuses to play for us, we make a deal that would dwarf the Herschel Walker trade in comparison to the highest bidder. But again, its October, and I am not to worried about it.

Yeah, some of these drops are the receivers' fault. Others are the QB's fault. The fact that all of our receivers had the dropsies against the Jets underlines the common factor: the QB.Sceeto likes this. -

The scout is full of BS. For Luck to pull an Manning BOTH teams have to be in agreement. When SD chose Manning they AGREED with the Giants to make the trade. If Miami gets the first pick, they do not have to agree with any team to trade him. If there is no agreement then Luck or his agent have no say in the matter at all. The only alternative is for him to be selected by Miami, choose not to sign then sit out the entire season and then re enter the next draft. His stock would still be strong but he would surely drop down in the draft. With the number one pick, due to rookie scale, only getting 22 million this year, Luck cannot risk dropping down the charts any further, it would be useless and he would lose millions if he chose to sit out and wait until the next draft. Who would take a chance on him then ? use a pick on the kid and if he does not like that situation, ist out what, again ?
If Miami does indeed pick him there will not be any trade agreement as there was between NY and SD. -
He wants to win & succeed and play for an organization that will allow him to do so. Miami being "starved" for a QB means nothing; Luck's not a humanitarian looking to throw us a solid.
The biggest things of value to Luck that are virtually guaranteed to be here next year are Long, Pouncey, Thomas and this fan base. Too bad the fan base is acting like more of a detractor than a positive. -

-
either way, we need that #1 pick. -
-
And another thing, if not Miami where the hell would he force his hand to? Denver? A team nothing at receiver and a coach known for running one of the most conservative offenses in the league? Indy? So he can rot on the bench for 5 years? Doesn't make any sense on his part.
He goes to Stanford, the kids already graduated. He isn't an idiot.
