This is spot on. It makes the same point some of us were making last week. We know everything there is to know about Joe Philbin the head coach. He's not going to get any better. He's lost the team. This team still does have some talent. Firing Philbin now could possibly spark this team. 3 games in and it's the only thing that could possibly inspire this team. The Philbin era is over. Here's hoping Ross doesn't wait too long. If he's still coach after the bye week I'll take a vacation from watching this abortion of a team until he is gone.

I've been reluctant to place blame on Philbin, preferring instead to speculate about a wide variety of possible causes, but I agree that if you have any interest in salvaging the 2015 season, you have to do something drastic right now. If this is indeed Philbin's last season if the Dolphins don't make the playoffs, then starting 1-2 is reason enough to make a change now, while there's still a chance for improvement. You don't wait until you're 4-8, or worse yet after a 6-10 season, to make a change, if you're interested in getting anything out of the actual 2015 season itself.

That gif of the woman giving the bird is hilarious

No way he is going to fire him after 3 games, even if he should. Just doesn't work that way.

If anything will happen itll be after the bye week.. Honestly i wouldnt be shocked if we win next week.. and then homers will say "see, you all *****ig last week about Philbin and how we are done, we are back in this with 12 more games, blahblahblah"
Philbin is the master of mediocrity, 8-8 he keeps the fans that want him gone pissed and the fans the support him, defending him again. -
-
I heard a snippet of his Philbin's press conference after the game and he seems to be in somewhat denial about this offensive line. I've lost faith in this guy going back to last season, and while I realize this was supposed to be a process....This is NFL football and quick turnarounds with franchises isn't something out of the ordinary. It's not like the NBA where a coach has four years to build a team from the ground up and then is evaluated. However this is Philbins fourth season here and we still suck. This coaching staff has not gotten the most out of the talent on this roster. In some cases players seem to have taken a step back.

If the team plays like this again next week, you've got to pull the trigger on the bye. You've got to do something to try and salvage the season.

Sadly, I agree. He's just too reserved, too laid back to lead players at this level.

Well hey Ross, at least the Dolphins are semi-relevant in a way. They're still trending on Twitter right now. Of course its for two reasons: 1. They're a laughingstock right now and 2. Miko Grimes got arrested outside the stadium.

Peyton Manning must have saw this coming when he met Philbin and Ross during his free agency.

Hopefully, the Phins can get Sean Payton or someone of his stature should he be available soon.

If we fire him and turn it around, then that person likely drops the interim tag and becomes full time head coach. Anyone currently in the building you see this happening for? Anyone you want it to happen for?

Marino must have a ****ing ulcer after today.
If it were up to him he'd likely drown Philbin himself.MAFishFan likes this. -

I want to see how long Ross can wait. I am curious. Can he wait til the end of this year? Could he actually manage to wait right through next season? If we go 7-9 this year and 8-8 next year does he extend joe?
No one knows! -
He did fire Sparano during the season but he waited until much later in the season to do so. The problem is that I really don't see any assistant coaches who I would want to take over on an interim basis. This is just a bad coaching staff from top to bottom.MAFishFan likes this. -
**** it make zach Thomas or Marino head coach. See if it sticks. If not bring in Malshun or someone innovative in the offseason

That kind of stupidity by an owner wouldn't deserve the support of the fans. Fortunately I think even Ross would listen to Tannenbaum and fire Philbin if the Dolphins don't make the playoffs this year. -

yeah I agree with most of what everyone states here , I see another rebuild coming which it seems like we do every 3 or 4 years and that is gong to completely suck ...
Maybe we can convince Bill Cower to coming out of retirement , he would light a fire under everyone's butt in a hurry, but I doubt they we can get him or anyone else that is high profile , geez this sucks.
-I just wounder if i will see the day when the phins dominate the AFC again, they did it for about 20 years through the 70's and 80's and little bit in the 90's, than enter Tom Brady ... need i say more.
I hate to see what happens to us when we meet the pats , they have been dismantling teams...djphinfan likes this. -
Cowher is definitely not the answerr lol itll be Jimmy Johnson part 2. He is very comfortable being retired and his motivation to come out of retirement would be money, not building a championship team. Just like Jimmy.

Aside from Landry and a few others, just scrap the whole f'ing thing!!! They all suck!!

The season goes to London to play the Jets next week. If the Dolphins lose that one, Philbin might as well take a European vacation. His days will be numbered as Dolphins coach.

So why not fire philbin.now put the players and staff on notice that they are auditioning for a new coach and a position on this team. Keeping him does nothing now let's get a year start on the coaching search!!Last edited: Sep 27, 2015dolphin25, Dolphinzdawgg and resnor like this. -

Mark Dantonio is the best defensive mind in college football and has been for many years. He has all the qualities needed to coach an NFL team.
If Warren Buffet were to make Ross an offer he couldn't refuse and Mark Dantonio was given the head coaching and GM job there would actually be hope.
A top position in the draft wouldn't hurt either.Dolphinzdawgg likes this. -
Although, I suspect Harbaugh would still be hungry if he came back to the NFL. Would want that ring.
Doesn't he have a long contract in Michigan though?
EDIT: 7 Year contract. Yeah, forget about Harbaugh.
