Signs say Sparano hiring imminent

''He's great, he's terrific,'' Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga told The Miami Herald after a 2 Â½-hour dinner with Sparano and several Dolphins employees. ``But all the guys we have brought in so far have been very good.''

All of those guys, however, have not yet been invited back for a second interview. All of those guys also didn't get a night out with a group that included vice president of football operations Bill Parcells, general manager Jeff Ireland, Huizenga and Wiedmeier.

Huizenga still warned that a deal was not yet complete.

''No, no,'' Huizenga said. ``They are going to talk [Wednesday].''

Huizenga then got into his black Mercedes and left the restaurant. The rest of the group piled into Wiedmeier's SUV, which delivered Sparano, 46, to his hotel, where he would get a few hours rest before what will certainly be a long, eventful day.

Sounds like he was impressed with the Owner, and I read elsewhere there was a contract already pre-prepared for him on his arrival and the finaly details are being hammered out. Today..

Would be suprised if by this afternoon we did not hear we have a new head Coach..

Where did you hear that Sparano was impressed with Wayne? Wayne said Sparano was great but did not hear anything from Sparano.

STABILIZING FORCE

There's a reason for that, of course. Bill Parcells was brought in to stabilize a franchise, and before he has even accomplished that feat he has effectively settled a fan base that has largely put all of its trust in a man with a track record. No, Parcells the coach hasn't won a Super Bowl since 1990, but Parcells the presence and the football mind has guided teams to regular playoff appearances, which the Dolphins franchise and fans would clearly accept at this point.

If Parcells believes that Sparano is prepared to succeed as an NFL head coach, then it should be accepted as more than a safe gamble.

But beyond the endorsement from Parcells, there are other reasons to believe that Sparano will be in a better position to succeed than the abject failure that was Cameron.

To start, Sparano has actually experienced success as a head coach, going 41-14-1 with a national title game appearance, even if it was at the Division II college level. Before the Dolphins, Cameron's head coaching experience included only an 18-37 record at Indiana. The argument for his eventual demise there was similar to his case here in Miami: He was put in a difficult, almost impossible position to win.

I'm sorry but the Soprano jokes never get old to me.

That was my impression from reading the entire article which I did not post. I posted the link.. He was happy to be with old friends, and how could you not be happy with a HANDS OFF Owner with deep pockets, and a group of people who WANT to give you a dream JOB in South Florida with a HUGE PAYRAISE??

Sounds like the OP really wants Sparano to be the HC and is assuming that he (Sparano) was impressed with WH. I just hope we get the RIGHT guy, I don't care if he's a Parcells disciple or not. Just get us a HC that can make this a championship team, again!
