A couple of things:
-Who said Free Agents would not wish to sign in Miami?
-Not sure we would sign him
-Marshall and MSW..not sure if that is a good idea
Thoughts?

It would be fun.

Based upon his NFL production, college production and measurables, I would certainly consider it:
2007 NFL DraftPre-draft measureables Ht Wt 40-yd dash 10-yd split 20-yd split 20-ss 3-cone Vert Broad BP Wonderlic
6 ft 2 in 209 lb 4.35 [/B]s 1.54 s 2.53 s 4.39 s 6.92 s 36.5 in 10 ft 1 in 18 rep

6-2, 209, lbs., 4.35 40 yd dash, 18 reps of 225 lbs. Pretty darned solid. That being said, I've only seen him play a bit, I don't know if he's a problem child or not, and I don't know why Jax dumped him. -

Unless he just has no interest anywhere else. -
I have no problems with Marshall. You want an exciting, big, dominating receiver, you take the diva along with it.
I like MSW, but I like our young corps of WR better. you bring in MSW, what do we do with Gates and Hartline? -
More than the financial or even "attitude" concerns are having two larger posession receivers starting. We have another in Bess, hybrid in Hartline and speed in out new pick (givins). Just dont know how much it would benefit unless they really drive each other toward vast improvement. Or if MSW blocks as well as Marshall then perhaps.
-
I was all for it until we drafted Gates. I want Gates to be a featured piece in this offense, but if we bring in a guy that will command as many passes as MSW will, Gates won't see the field much unless we plan on running 4 and 5 WR sets all game (Which I would love btw).
Right now, I just want to keep our current 4 (Marshall, Bess, Hartline, Gates) and bring in some vet FAs/UDFAs to compete with Moore, Wallace, and Pruitt for the 5th job/ST job.
I do think this offense would be nuts though if we brought in Sims-Walker and ran 4WR/5WR sets all game with Gates/Bess in the slot. Then, we wouldn't need another RB behind Thomas.
edit: I do plan on watching some Jags games on NFL Rewind though in the upcoming weeks to check Sims-Walker. -
All for signing him and letting him compete. I think it'd be amazing to have Marshall, MSW, Bess, Gates and Hartline in the stable. Bess and potentially Gates already have return ability on special teams (Hartline as a backup).
Who knows what Daboll's offense will look like?
I'd love to see a lot of 4 receiver sets next season with a combination of two big receivers, a quick Bess underneath, and two vertical threats. Pick your poison! Sounds a lot better than Wallace/Moore making the team to me...
Of course, that's only dependent on if Gates develops.
It's a risk/reward question for the FO.
BTW - I love hearing players that want to play for us, including RBs Kevin Smith and DeAngelo Williams.jim1 likes this. -
What's better than one diva screaming every down asking for the ball, then throwing tantrums which cost his team yardage on penalties?

I would argue that if we signed him we'd have the best full WR corp in the league

1.Marshall
2.Bess
3a. Sims-Walker
3b. Hartline
4. Gates
All of which are young or in their prime. To me thats dangerous. -

Um Did you guys see the QB he had in Jacksonville??? very sorry especially when Edwards was in there. MSW is a game breaker and speedster that can catch however he has had some knee problems the last few years that might be why he was cut by the Jags

There's one WR out there that's worth our interest IMO and that's Santonio Holmes...... otherwise we should just go with what we have.
You take Holmes away from the Jets and Snatchez is riding the pine by mid season.
Holmes is literally the reason the Jets even won enough games to make the playoffs -
Gonzalez is not a WR. I specifically said WR. Jenkins is not better than sims-walker and then if you throw bess and hartline in there. I'm not saying the recievers you are talking about aren't good, im saying that with Sims-Walker Miami's WR corp 1-5 would be the strongest in the league, not 1 and 2 or even 1-3 but rather 1-5. I believe it would be hard to argue against that in my opinion.

Seriously, he isn't all that much different than the typical pro athlete in Miami. He is a big presence and could thrive in Daboll's system. I want as much talent as we can find on offense next year. Sims-Walker would be one of my top choices to join us if I had a list. He and Marshall could easily both have over 1,000 yards receiving and make our QB's and RB's lives easier both catching the ball and in blocking with those big bodies upfield. I'm all for that. Bess would be unstoppable in the slot if we had another top guy at WR2.
WR1: Marshall
WR2: Sims-Walker
WR3: Bess
WR4: Hartline
WR5 / KR: Gates
That is a damn fine group of wideouts.
A good coach and GM can handle this guy. -
Come on Coach Mike, every Coach and GM thinks they can handle a problem child, Shanahan thought he could handle D McNabb..
He does pass my one litmus test for a problem child, he wants to play football, and will play injured, same as Vince Young, if a guy wants to play you can work with them imho.DOLFANMIKE likes this. -
BUT IF OUR OFFENSE WASN'T A JOKE HE'D BE A MORE POSITIVE PERSON IN MIAMI! HE KNOWS HE CAN DOMINATE BUT WAS HANDCUFFED BY POOR SCHEME AND PLAY CALLING! I think even a mature, team player would have had some serious issues dealing with the situation we put him in last year.
We should do whatever we can to add talent on Offense. We already have a big investment in Marshall. Lets build on him (which is what he wants - the load on his back). Bring in Sims - Walker and anyone else that can help us score in Miami. -

Still, his QB and overall team situation was waaay worse than ours last year. Did you see him acting like a girl and throwing a hissy fit like Marshall? I don't think you did.
Plus, I'd take him fighting w/teammates over Marshall's brawls with women. -
-
-
Plus we just invested the 15th overall pick in an OL. -
The Dominique Byrd thing was over them gambling on a videogame in college and they both knew they were going to fight. -
No thanks, draw the line right there.
