Are we seriously discussing drafting a QB who will be 30 by the time 2013 season starts?
Desperation, thy name is Dolphins.Moves likes this. -

Weeden is a very good prospect. He just happens to be 29.PhinPhanatic, Aquafin and PhinsRDbest like this. -
If Tannehill goes to Cleveland at 4 and Flynn signs with Seattle I'd rather sit back and sell the farm for Barkley next year.

If we lose out on Tannehill, you trade back. We take a guy older than me at 8, I'll lose my ****. I'll have a bigger breakdown then when we passed on Willis for TED GINN JUNIOR AND THE GINN FAMILY.
-
He originally pursued a baseball career. Didn't work out. -
If they do get Flynn. That means they outpayed both Seattle and Cleveland. Meaning Flynn's contract is going to be Massive.

Are you guys really talking about drafting Weeden with your 8th pick?
Yeah if you want to take a guy in round 1 that will be there in round 5. Hell, Tannehill will be there in round 3. -

Tannehill is going to suck balls. Weeden might be decent, but I wouldn't draft him because that's all you're getting, a decent journeyman. -

I'm praying Cincy falls in love with the idea of Green, Gresham, and Richardson around fire crotch and trades up for him (with us of course). -

This biggest negative I've heard everyone harp on about him is his age. Well, right now everyone seems to be having viagra induced erections over the possibility of landing a 36 year old quarterback that's had 4 neck surgeries and the last caused him to miss all of last season. How many years do you all think we would get out of Manning?
Here's my point. If Weeden is that good of a quarterback, regardless of his age, that could translate into 5-6 winning seasons in Miami. Now, it's no secret; players like to play for winners. Terrell Owens went to Philadelphia (before destroying that locker room), Randy Moss went to New England, Vinny Testaverde followed Bill Parcells, etc...
If Weeden could indeed provide a number of winning seasons in Miami, surely a good quarterback would want to come to Miami down the road to be his successor...play for an established winner.
Now, is Weeden a Peyton Manning? Chances are...probably not, but that doesn't mean Weeden can't win now.
To me, the age argument is not relevent. Alot of you here have stated he is a GOOD quarterback, but cite his age as his number one negative. Well, how many quarterbacks are starting in the league right now that are Weeden's age now or older?
If age is that big of a factor, then Weeden isn't that good of a quarterback, because if he can't come into the league and start NOW? And needs a few years developing? Then he's not a good quarterback at all and why he's even mentioned by some of you guys is beyond me....however,
If is THAT good, he can start the season and instantly win games..and I don't know about you guys, I want wins now..not after developing a quarterback three years from now.Killer Bees and Hiruma78 like this. -
Yeah, but he's not that good. He's 4th in what is essentially a 4QB class. Had Barkley come out he'd be 5th.
We're desperate and we're making a messiah out of any potential QB -
I'd rather draft Weeden over Tannehill.
I smell bust with Tannehill. -
I really don't see Tannehill going #4 and/or Weeden going #8. That said, I didn't see Ponder and Dalton going as high as they did last year. Just goes to show you how the value of the position elevates the prospect to a higher position in the draft than they probably deserve on their own merit.
If we miss out on Peyton and Flynn, and with Luck and and Griffin already off the board by the third pick, I can see these guys going higher than otherwise projected. But, I still don't think they go in the top ten. Moreover, I can see us trading back in that scenario and still having a shot at least one of them further down in the round. -

Wow, how much lower can this organization sink. This is an organization which has two former QB's in the HOF. A former coach who who has the most wins in NFL history. Yet now the organization has sunk so low that the head coach is someone who has never been a HC at any level of football. The answer at QB, if Manning decides to sign with another team, is a player who has been in the league for four years and has started a grant total of two regular season games. Of course if Flynn doesn't sign with the Dolphins, the Dolphins can always use their top ten pick in the first round to draft a QB would started as many games at WR in college as he did at QB, and who led his team to a very mediocre record last season which caused his coach to be fired. Of course there is always option number three. A QB who will be 29 years old when the NFL season begins and who already has a history of failing at the top level of a professional sport.
I guess all this proves is that some Dolphin fans are so desperate for a franchise QB in Miami that they are willing to waste millions of the owners dollars on a four year backup in the NFL or to waste a top draft pick on one of two QB's who are not really in the top 100 college players in this years draft.
Put me in the camp which says that if Manning doesn't sign with the Dolphins, they should just go with Matt Moore again next year and do whatever is necessary after next season to trade up and get Matt Barkley in the 2013 draft. -
