he hasn't beat out Davis but who knows when it comes to this staff, hell they wanted to take a perfect specimen of a new type of outside linebacker and turn him into a 275 plodder.

 

This team has a long history of doing nothing with 2nd round picks. The last great one I remember was Patrick Surtain.

I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody between him and now, but I remember they traded away a few for lousy QB's and they traded away a few for lousy RB's (IIRC) and Ireland got here and just kept it going.

I disagree with this point on the basis that IMO the trade down in the draft that year resulted in our acquisition of Odrick and Misi instead staying pat and drafting safety Earl Thomas; which IMO was, indeed, one of Ireland's biggest blunders.

However.......I couldn't disagree more about Jamar Taylor for several reasons that I can't go into right now because I'm being called away.

 

you can disagree, but you're assuming we would have picked Earl Thomas if we had stood pat. just speculation and wishful thinking on all of our parts.
Odrick is one of our best defenders. Misi isn't great, but again, he's a starter after 5 years, so definitely not a bust.

you've been right about some coaching things and ireland, but evaluating talent and having a winning record over course of a long time is a different game..your right in this case that are 2nd round picks have been brutally bad.
