so frustrating being a fan. we look like crap all year, then in a game where if we loose we better our draft stock, we destroy one of the best teams in the league. dont get me wrong, i like the fact that we finally showed up, but in wk 17? we saw today all the potential that we have. thats what drives me crazy, we have the talent but way underachieved this year.

tbh.. didn't look like the Pats were playing to win for much of the game. I think they cared more about player safety than anything else. So I wouldn't take this as a sign of much except that we didn't give up (which is important).

Would have been better to lose in terms of draft position but other things are at stake. Don't be that guy.

I have to agree. This wasn't the Patriots at full speed but it was great to see Tannehill out there taking shots and both Landry and Parker showing why they are the future of the franchise. Parker looked like a legit weapon today for sure!
Just heard them say Tannehill finished 25/32 for 350 yards and 2 TDs for a rating of 113. -

Well.. given all the responses about how it's obvious they played to win, let me just point out it's not just an observation that only I (and maybe a few others) are making:
http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-...-to-ensure-no-1-seed-now-become-chargers-fans
"It was almost as if they were playing not to get hurt at times instead of with the urgency to earn the No. 1 seed."
21 rushes and 5 pass attempts in the 1st half? Fewest ever in Brady's career. Yeah.. listen you guys can say what you want about NE just not having a full deck to play with but something else was different today than what NE usually looks like, even with a less-than-full deck. To me it just seemed like they prioritized safety over winning even though both are important. True or not, who knows, but it's apparently a perception shared by some in the media. -
You are fooling yourself if you think the Pats didn't play hard. The wanted home field, bad. They don't want to play in Denver against that defense.

If Pats were truly interested in winning they would not have pulled Brady and Gronk when there was still a chance. They still get a bye and I suspect would rather be healthy than have home field all the way.
But I concur with the original post. Winning doesn't do #%^* for the Dolphins long term. It's 5 minutes of pride and that is all it is. But selecting at #5-7 vs 10-12, could make a Huge difference.
This is Classic Dolphins. Win when it doesn't mean bleep and lose draft position.Agua likes this. -
DRAFT ORDER:
1. TEN (3 wins)
2. CLE (3 wins)
3. DAL (4 wins)
4. SD (4, unless they win)

7. BAL (5 wins)
8. MIA (6 wins)
9. NYG (6 wins)
10. CHI (6 wins)
11. TB. (6, unless they win)
Yeah, slid down to 8th spot with win....for 1st round at least. -

Hopefully, FA will create a logical draft needs, that matches who will be there...otherewise 8th pick could be best player available but not match need exactly.
I am rooting for underclassmen declaring (like Will Fuller ND WR) to increase slippage....and hopefully combine and workouts too. -
Trading down is also a good option but it'll depend on the offer. -
I think we'll just barely be fine, especially if 2 QB's go before us. We'll see! -

Good to end the year on a win, and always great to beat the Patriots

hargreaves III or Jaylon Smith or Ramsey should be available so I'm not worried. That's who I wanted anyway. At least two QBs will be taken and Joey Bosa and jeremy tunsil will be taken before us so that's four picks left and three prospects on the board. have to like our chances one will be available

And on the flipside...when they had to win in week 17 to make the playoffs they go and get destroyed at home against the Jets...go figure. That's our Dolphins!
Hope there will be a time soon when they can win a game in week 17 that actually matters, or where they're playing and they've already clinched something. Since 2001 its been a bunch of choke jobs or already being eliminated from playoff contention. -
Problem is everyone needs to stay healthy. Albert will most likely go down again, Pouncey seems to be dinged up all the time and even Juwan James has been hurt now. It is going to take an early draft pick and a lot of FA attention to fix this line.
I'm honestly a fan of drafting tackles in round two. The drop off isn't very large, if any, if you choose wisely.MAFishFan likes this. -

Looking at things objectively, we do have the benefit of not needing very many impact position players. We need our offensive line revamped in the worst possible way and thank God there are going to be a TON of good offensive linemen available and many of them will be available in the later rounds.
As for impact players, we are going to need a GOOD corner/safetyDolphinGreg and bran like this. -

Miami's first round needs are going to come on defense. Right now it would make sense for Miami to look at DBs and LBs. If Vernon is not re-signed we might throw DE in there as well. On offense I don't see Miami going WR, RB or QB so I think you're either talking TE or trade-down. -
