Everyone wants everybody fired. From. Ireland to Philbin, Sherman and the SunLife Stadium vendors.
But who do we replace them with? Because without offering up a solution, simply asking someone to be fired isn't really helping.
So who are your choices for the following:
GM:
HC:
OC:

I like Philbin, but I don't like some of the coaches. I just don't know about Ireland. I think he really failed on the OL and with the two linebacker signings.

In the defense of Jeff Ireland he did make moves thispast offseason and we all wanted that to happen. It's not his fault that Kellergot injured. The jury is unfortunately out on Dion Jordan (more on him in aminute) as well as Ryan Tannehill at this point.
Phillip Wheeler and Donnell Ellerbe looked like solid additions at firstglance. That was probably the biggest question mark I had about our offseason.I thought that Dansby and Burnett were the strengths of our defense so it waspuzzling to see them go, but I had faith in Wheeler and Ellerbe (still do inEllerbe). Wheeler needs to be moved to backup next season and somebody needs totake his place.
Brent Grimes was a prize of a signing but unfortunately I think it's only for aone year rental. The team will want to see what Jamar Taylor and Will Davishave next season (both Ireland picks).
Mike Wallace was probably the worst free agent signing we have been a part ofin quite some time. Thing is that is not all completely on Mike Wallace. Isuggest he and Tannehill get together this offseason and work on some timingand chemistry. That connection still has promise in my opinion, which leads meto the offensive line.
The O-line was a concern from most of us even before the season began. It waspatch work at best by signing re-treads like Clabo who had been released bytheir former teams. I certainly had questions about it but I was at the leasthopefull it would work. This does bring me back to our draft however....WithLane Johnson available we took Dion Jordan over him and many of us thought thatwas just a little too ballsy of a move on Irelands part. We weren't bringingback Jake Long and I guess the idea was that the big Milk Dud (Martin) wasgoing to hold it down at left tackle. Judging by how the season shaped up andhow bad the line played all year...I think I would have much rather had LaneJohnson over Dion Jordan at least for now. Hopefully i'm wrong by the start ofnext year and Dion Jordan turns into a dominant defensive player for us.
In conclusion to Jeff Ireland staying or going, i’m onthe side that wants him gone. It’s always great to sign a big named free agentbut I believe the draft is where you build a dynasty and Jeff Ireland simplymakes questionable moves when it comes to the draft. It’s frustrating that DionJordan, Will Davis, Jamar Taylor, and even Dallas Thomas are all wait and seetype of players. The same goes for Egnew, Tannehill, and Lamar Miller as well.
I just think it's time to move on from Ireland and start with some fresh motivated personel. I think Philbin gets another year at head coach but to me he's a rather gutless coach. He's got to find a way to motivate this team, there is just too much talent on this roster to play like we don't care.
Mike Sherman needs to retire and hang it up, at least at the pro level. He clearly needs to be replaced by a guy that can get results for this team. It's been way too long since we have had anything better than a mediocre offense and the search continues for the right guy to conduct it....This of course includes Ryan Tannehill....Some of you are madly in love with this kid and some of you completely doubt his abilities. I myself believe in the young man..I think he's going to be here for quite some time. He clearly needs some help in order to get to that next level though. A better offensive line is where it all starts in my opinion. Give this kid some time, and let the running game get going and we are going to win games.

I want CHUCKIE. I don't know who he would be willing to work with? I know he loves Tanehill, and I think our offense would improve leaps and bounds under him. He is also the kind of coach players want to play for. I think this is one of the biggest problems with our team right now. Our guys played harder for Morano with less talent.

Chudzinski as Oc he did great with cam newton -
Tom Heckert Jr.
He got a bad shake in Cleveland and has Dolphins ties.

Call the God damn Pope, because this team is done. Look at this team, it is a joke from your great hope at QB, all the way to the WR they just gave huge money to.

Not sure what the answer is. I just keep hoping that one year we will be back to where we used to be. This franchise has been a rudderless ship for so long, I have no clue what it would take to fix it. Others here who know more than I can chime in as to what we need or who needs to go. Just another disgusted year.
(Keep your hands off Malzahn.)

This, the whole Front office can take a hike!

For those of you with short memories, I'll give you a few things to support why Heckert is a good idea for our next GM:
http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/62363/browns-make-wrong-move-by-firing-heckert -- article arguing that the Browns made a terrible mistake by canning him because he took a burnt down roster, rebuilt the defense, tried hard in just two years to rebuild the offense, and apparently got the right idea by trying to make a RG3 trade happen before Holmgren shot that down.
Now, look at Denver. Nice huh?
I guess the question is can Miami hire away a director of pro personnel as a GM? I think that's allowable. -

HC: Keep Philbin. Second option would be to let one of the two above clean house. But, I don't blame Philbin as much as I do Ireland.
OC: Joe Lombardi is one I would look at (QB coach with Saints for several years). Still very young in his 30's.
(If not, perhaps one of the Bears offensive assistants - their Offensive Quality Control assistant is young and was with Trestman in Montreal. The Bears have put up a ton of points this season even with their starting QB going down).Samphin likes this. -
Ireland must go down. Talent acquisition is the #1 priority.
Ross can keep whoever else he wants.

I don't know what the solution is as of right now. As much as i've cursed Joe Philbin today I do think it's important to at least give the guy one more season. Let him get one more crack at bringing in the players he wants to bring in and go from there. At least we can say that he wasn't short changed during his tenure if it doesn't work out.
Secondly I think this team lacks playmakers on defense. Obviously Brent Grimes and Cameron Wake are singled out on the defensive side because both of them helped us win a few games this year with their plays they made alone. Aside from those two, nobody really stuck out in terms of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. We couldn't get it right with Dmitri Patterson, the entire defensive line really underachieved in my opinion minus Vernon and Wake. I also have questions about Dion Jordan. We need more football players who can make plays on the defensive side of the ball. When we forced turnovers this year we were a hell of a team.
Obviously improving the offensive line is the top priority this offseason but some moves need to be made on the defensive side of the ball. Either a major adjustment in scheme/style, a coaching move, or position movement needs to happen. We have way too much talent on the defensive side to be as bad as we've been (especially against the run). A mainstay at one of the linebacker positions should be another priority. We also need to figure out why we couldn't stop the run this year when we really needed to. There certainly isn't a shortage of talent or depth on that front line so my guess is the failure for them to dominate is coming elsewhere.
In conclusion we need to take a long hard look at both Coyle, scheme, and some of these players. As talented as they are I question their heartbeat...Who's to blame for that? -
Why has no one talked about Scott Pioli? He basically assembled that Chiefs roster.
-
I really feel this is going to be Stephen Ross' defining moment as Owner.
His reputation for many years to come and the future of this franchise is on the line. Hard to attract players and coaches if the owner of the team is not respectedJimmy James likes this. -
