Colt McCoy is widely considered to have shown positive promise after his Rookie season under Daboll, which perhaps makes the job Daboll did in Cleveland better in retrospect as his 3 Qb's he opened the season with all suffered injuries, oddly enough 3 serious ankle sprains, and he wound up playing a Qb straight off of the couch.

...yet still I stare down this ledge

Daboll's strength is supposedly his QB work. In a perfect world, you grab a vet to start (I do think Young qualifies), let Henne backup, and groom a young guy.
If I had to pick between Thigpen and a mid-rounder like McElroy as a developmental prospect, I'm picking McElroy and looking to trade Thiggy for something (anything). -
Eh, make of it what one will, to me it just seems to muddy up the water a bit more, 4 Qb's and 2 really poor starting Wr's, what exactly was Daboll to work with in Cleveland?
Mangini was married to those Wr's and they just did not come through for him or Daboll. -
Or maybe they take Cam Newton? -
Hard to make an opinion on Daboll coming from the Brownies,he is still somewhat of a mystery,it's not like he was working with a great offence.I just hope he does well.

Think people think. :up:GMJohnson, Moves, late again and 1 other person like this. -

I posted this in the Daboll thread in the club, thought I would fit here also. -

I believe Henne is a fine developmental prospect that belongs firmly on our roster. I also believe is too inconsistent to be a starter and lacks adequate pocket presence, hopefully that will change. I see nothing, for example, which indicates Ryan Mallett is a better prospect than Henne, but few would argue that Mallett is a day 1 rookie QB. Henne will improve with better coaching, but I wonder how much.
Henne would be an excellent backup, in the way that Channing Crowder would be an excellent backup. And on a perfect team, they would be.
There won't be many obvious upgrades to Henne out there. I'm a VY proponent because you can never have enough young QBs on the roster who have had success in this league.
Other guys I would consider include Hasselbeck, Palmer (both of whom may not be available), and Gradkowski. The closest I would come to 'anointing' one of these guys is with Hasselbeck (actually my preference) and Palmer. Guys like Young and Gradkowski should have to win the spot in TC.
My favorite QB (not named Gabbert) in the draft is McElroy, for what it is worth. Henne has shown us enough not to panic and over-draft Mallett or Locker. I'm not in a favor of a round 1 QB this year. As for Vince Young compensation, I probably would not trade for him at all. 12 million per is too expensive. If I had to make a trade, a 5th and Thigpen is where I would start.the 23rd likes this. -

We may as well throw in the towel for the season and start talking with Andrew Luck's agent in October.
That would be a DISASTER...:pity: -

I have no quibble with that strategy Killahp, I think Orton is highly underrated and on the upswing, and for our needs 2 #2's would be perfect.
We need a overall upgrade on offense, not just a Qb, so 2 #2's or even 1 #2 and 1 #4 would be fine.
Figure, Starting Qb, Starting Running Back, Starting Olinemen potentially, that is a solid haul of talent.
Or..the #15 overall for Elvis Dumervil....:shifty:
